Bad mistake was I think Fg4 to protect the knight

But the problem is that 18....Ne3 is met by 19.Re1. A pin that wins the knight.

Then he should have played Nf2, though after Rf1 or Re1+ it looks pretty horrible for black- his Qside is totally undeveloped and his king badly exposed...
