@northfourty I'm not surprised to hear that about the "Russian Roulette" business. From the very first time I saw this movie, I always wondered about that myself. I was just a small kid during Vietnam but I never heard that once, and I'm sure that if it was even remotely true, the media would have reported it over and over again. Hollywood and the truth don't necessarily go together.

F*cking A, man! I saw Franki Valli and the Four Seasons a few years back and he dedicated this song to veterans, as he likely, always did after this film. The song will always be associated with this great masterpiece. I think this film was ranked #53 of the greatest films of all time, but it is so much better. Just incredibly moving, a timeless classic. It always makes me cry.

I think that men are fabulous, I thank God for them, every time I travel into the local mountains (So. Just realised something. The way they're betting on their game of pool bears disturbing resemblance to the russian roulette scenes later on in the film. Yet another complex subtlety of this amazing film.

I think the reason so many people find this film boring / too long is because they don't give it repeat views. I have watched this film over 10 times now, and I still pick up on subtle details important to the story, every time I watch it. Truly incredible film.
