  • Wasn't this in the singers dream?

  • @Tranquilance It was in all the dreams, even the kids delusional-dream.

  • I just listened to My Chick Bad by Ludacris, and then listened to this.

Mind blown. Listen to it and you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • He sees

    What's left

    Undone

  • The aroma of the bog....it's....INTOXICATING.

  • This part legit creeped me the hell out.

  • There is no way out.

  • The part where the narrator said "He wakes up" for the second time in the play through I was worried something happened to my game. Then he said "I'm just foolin" and that's when I knew this is among the greatest games ever made.

  • Most people post comments about Jawson's Bog, but for me the most memorable use of this song was during the Ura attack on the Bastion.

  • That'll teach him to take the funny drugs hanging around in the air in jungles.

  • This part of the same was so atmospheric, I was totally enthralled by the experience.

  • "Proper stories are suppose to start at the beginning.....it's so simple with this one.

Now here's a Kid who's world is alright, just snoozing there, on that floating rock.

    He wakes up.....I'm just fooling"

That part scared me and the part where you fight yourself.

  • This was maybe my favorite part of the game.

  • He wakes up... I'm just foolin'. He sees what's left of the rippling walls. Years of work, undone in an instant. He sees what's left of Pyth the Bull. The gods, they're all undone. He sees what's left of his life-long friend. His friend, he's come undone too. He sees...what's left...undone.

  • you know, its kinda scary realizing that one of the secret skills for the calamity cannon is a mini calamity

  • Just ordered the album.

  • @AdahnYemeth Who hasn't ordered the album? :P

  • if you had to choose between pulling the trigger on the sabotaged weapon and destroying (hopefully) only Caelondia, or confessing, and getting arrested or killed, which would you choose?

  • This song is... intoxicating.

  • man music in this game is just... epic.

  • "Now the kid sees something stranger still. Did anybody else survive? Sure enough, he finds...

... Peckers, Lunkheads, Wallflowers, Pincushions, Vineapples, Swampweeds, Anklegators."

  • @SceltorJT You have to feel sorry for the kid. 4 survivors, and one threatens to kill the rest. The Kid's forced into killing so many creatures that are obviously sapient, assloads of Ura, and for what? To fly off and away. Damn.

  • @SceltorJT My ABSOLUTE favorite part. mainly because of the narration. also, has anyone else noticed that in new game plus, when you start, it sort of drawls "i'll see you in the next one"

  • @SceltorJT and Terminator 2 on Laserdisk.

  • @pocketlint60 Whatever happened to the laser disk, everything is better on the laser disk.

  • My favorite Bastion song.

  • Man... all those songs and comments make me want to play this game.... again...

  • 2 windbags hit the dislike button... the kid makes sure they dont stay alive for long.

  • @brobroson Now I wonder how many people read this in Ruck's voice?

  • lol, I read ''Matis Dilemma" - another awesome song by Jelonek xP

  • "What's he thinkin'? Well, let me see if i got this straight - i only heard it once..."

  • What do you say to a kid who's seen too much?

    X: "Surrender."

  • Now here's a kid who's world is alright, sitting on a rock floating in the sky.

  • @TheMet306 HE GETS UP.

    ...nah, I'm just foolin'.

  • That bass!

  • I hear an apple loop in there!

  • "The dead welcome him with open arms, kid pops 'em good... that a survivor? It's the ghost of a lonely Gas 'Fella. Kid succeeds... where the Calamity failed"

  • "Now the kid sees something stranger still...

    Did anybody else survive?

    Sure enough, he finds...

... peckers, lunkheads, wallflowers, pincushions, vineapples, swampweeds, anklegators."

  • @Kcirojjj this part was so mind-blowing....

  • I want a "love" button.

  • The Kid has the nerve to flash that shield he stole; he's a petty thief.

Looks like security is just gonna have to straighten him out.

Kid does what the Calamity couldn't, just look what he did to poor Randy.

  • @Avarice66 and also Zia's story is on that one i did the cauldron four or five times just to listen to this

  • Comment removed

  • the main harp melody sounds like the main melody from H. by Tool.

  • Sounds familiar... I heard the 1:38 part somewhere else.

  • Ratchet and Clank reminiscent anyone?

  • IT'S A GARAGEBAND LOOP!

  • He wakes up. Naah, I'm just foolin'...

  • I'm a graphic design student, and this is my favorite thing to listen to while I do my work. It is great thinking music. I don't just tune it out while I work, instead I hear it, but it is not distracting at all; it blends seemlessly into my projects and is actually a little inspiring. Sorry if none of that really makes any sense.

  • @BurningAscent It does make sense.

  • @BurningAscent You know what, next time we get to play music in my basic drawing class, I'm gonna break out the Bastion soundtrack.

  • @BurningAscent Don't worry dude. It makes all sense!

  • Am I the only one that thinks this song is inspired by the song Ake Ni Somaru ?

  • @lancell

    yes

  • As a name, "The Mancers" (meaning magic-users) is kind of unsuitable AND appropriate for what they do.

Especially considering that the Caelondians lived with 19th-century tech, and then suddenly they have energy weapons and temporal manipulation devices. WTF

  • The kid in abastion always reminded me of Batman. UNSTOPPABLE.

  • Why have the same comments been top comments for 3+ month?

  • @lollol012

    Because they're good?

  • dododododo

  • I was sifting through the Bastion OST on youtube, carefully picking the ones i loved and adding them to my favourites.... i just realised I have the entire OST added to my favourites...

  • @VolatileSeraph "Kid goes through the videos...favoriting each one he sees. He can't help it, they're all too good to pass up."

  • @VolatileSeraph Wait, let me do that again...

  • @VolatileSeraph "He favorites every video like there's gonna be a prize for it."

  • This song is in this video that was made 4 years ago. watch?v=MkVLhNTAIVM&feature=channel_video_title at 3:20. Compare it to the music at 0:30 in the Bastion version. What is the original name of this song?

  • Comment removed

  • @KaptainCruel To make it easier:

    youtube [dot] com/watch?v=MkVLhNTAIVM&feature=channel_video_title

  • @KaptainCruel bullshit

  • To be fair, that Ludacris song uses exact same bass progression. That said, this beat > Ludacris' beat.

  • The orchestral arrangements kinda remind me of Ratchet and Clank, which was one of my favourite games :) but the other songs are absolutely unique ~!

  • @K1LL14N Same here. Its like a less techno version of that series' soundtrack.

  • I listen to this when im deep in thought.

  • the more i listen to the music on youtube the more i want to BUY IT !

  • Who the fuck disliked the song?

  • @VBarkeeperV obviously some sort of vagrant or peasant. his presence here is unwelcome.

  • i dont get what you meen.

  • I dont know if im going crazy or not, but has this theme been remixed from a lot of different things? If you search "CUZ IM ASIAN" into the youtube bar, the first 9 seconds.. sounds very familiar right? and that was 3 years old.

  • Kid has the nerve to shine the shield he stole.

That's what he is - a petty thief.

Look what he did to poor uncle Barry...

  • @lollol012 Kid walks into one of Caelondia's famous watering holes.

    Wait, haven't I...?

  • Best game 2011

    Best Soundtrack 2011

  • Then the kid wakes up... I'm just foolin'

  • I love how the guy narrating this game sounds like the xtremely sexy big brother of god after he inhaled a box of chocolate.

  • Ehhhhh? I thought that sounded familiar.

I was just listening to a rap song today, pretty sure it's by Ludacris, and they have the same exact low bass part playing in the background as in this song.

Sound developer tryin to make some extra cash on the side?

  • @MrKrashmoney i don't think so, considering this sounds much better than anything by ludacris, exhibit A - that terrible voice is nowhere to be heard

  • "Kid just rages for a while..."

  • I was hoping that this was when something dark the kid had done would come out of his past and into his nightmares to kick his ass. But, alas, I got stuck with Evil!Kid, who was really easy. Now, the second time I fought Evil!Kids, well, THAT was a little bit of a challenge...

  • i would say this game was dark but then i would kinda be wrong since its kind of bright at some bits like when he finds zin and when he makes it to the bastion and all the nice stuff i would say the game is light but then i would be wrong again because there are many sad parts so you know what its a hybred its its TWILIGHT (no not the book) the point in one day where two worlds supposubly combine. when the world is at a very strange and silent peace.

  • @Hothhornno you'd be right in saying its dark.

however you'd also be right in saying its bright.

you see its got one thing that warhammer(bland boring ye'old age and 40K) will never get, contrast.

it sets up the story of the world ending and working to rebuild it, not just mere survival but the steps of rebuilding and restoring.

in these we have both crushing despair at the loss and renewing hope in that we can fix this.

then there is the story of the kid and zia, whos lives actually got better.

  • @malivaxx yes but contrast baskicly means one makes the other stand out however the colors blend so well. i would still go with the term *shudders* twilight (CURSE YOU EVIL MOVIE)

  • @Hothhorn they do mix well due to how well the story is told by the narrator but that don't mean they don't contrast.

your world is shattered, everyone you knew is dead, and there is less then a handful of survivors(and for contrast) but you can fix it, you can set it back(ignoring the surprise at the end).

thats contrast, like if in fallout 3 you found a way to bring the world back to life, and not just clean water for the DC area, but to cleanse it wholly and return it to the pre-war state.

  • @malivaxx The hope of rebuilding kinda blots out the bleakness of the world ending though. Until the end of the game that is, the final choice is sort of a sophies choice. Doom yourself to the hell of eternal repetition? Or never fix the world and instead just float around on Bastion forever?

  • @MisterZimbabwe Not forever, its kinda hinted that you MIGHT find someone/where else to be :O

  • @Hothhorn "u know what its a hybred its its TWILIGHT (no not the book) the point in one day where two worlds supposubly combine" Even by mistake ....even by 1/1000000000000000 of a chance dont compare to Twilight ....the book or worse still the movie ............NO ..NO don't even think of it

  • @Hothhorn There is no peace at all in this game. What the shit are you on?

  • The guy who narrated this game was amazing!

  • Rucks: this place is.....intoxicating(echo)

    *30 seconds later*

    Me: What the hell Rucks!

*Kid wakes up after passing out*

Me: What the hell Kid! What kind of nightmares do you have?

  • "I'm Zulf of the Ura, pleased to make your acquintance."

  • "There is no way out."

  • if i had the money, i would pay the narrator to narrate my life and tell me bedtime story's.

  • @SkruffyPretzals Only if you can get Jeremy Irons to say all your dialogue. "You do not understand... This is a matter of pride."

  • The Pyth part of this level was kinda scary O_o

  • @JPMHUDProductions Yeah, killing that cute Pyth plushie is.....WHYYYYYYYY!

  • "peckers, lunkheads, wallflowers, pincoushins, vineapples, swampweeds, anklegators"

  • @blindga That scared me shitless first time through.

  • " Kids led a hard life... Supposing what hes says in his sleep ain't no lie"

  • kid just rages for awhile...

  • hear those drums? dnb lovers they were.

  • "What's he thinking? Well let me see if I got this straight. Only heard it once."

  • He has the nerve to flash the shield he stole.

  • 2nd favorite song from the game

  • You can buy the soundtrack NOW! supergiantgames DOT bandcamp DOT com

  • "He saw his wife-to-be asleep in her bed, but when he touched her, she joined with the ashes in the sky. He then walked back to the Hanging Gardens and stood there, head towards the sky, as if the Gods would answer him."

    Amazing.

  • @DaCruHunter is that from the game cause i never heard rucks mention this

  • @colnelScar2 It's probably not word for word, but Rucks says something like it in the Bedroll Who Knows Where

  • Probably the best-constructed track in the game.

  • Your quotes from the game that you use as the description? Perfect. You have chosen...wisely.

  • This is one of the coolest levels. LOL, this beat is sounding like "my chick bad" from ludacris... LOL LOVE IT

  • @snoochyboochies22 I don't know how I feel about you comparing music from Bastion to music by Ludacris...

  • @HenryKrinkle666 Im not comparing it, just making an obvious observation. The bass from this song and "my chick bad" by Ludacris are EXACTLY THE SAME, and thats a good thing as I REALLY like that beat. Listen to the bass: "Dun, Dun Dun, DaDun, Dadun DaDun DaDun". I actually really liked that particular beat so I noticed it right away. Bastion music is way better than Ludacris tho, if that makes you happy.

  • @snoochyboochies22 I noticed the exact same thing right away. The beats are the same, which is good, because that beat is awesome. I don't think it's fair to compare Ludacris with Bastion though; they're totally different types of music.

  • @HenryKrinkle666 Part of the melody is very similar to Ludacris's song, "My Chick Bad." As far as musical tastes go, it's apples and oranges. I really like both songs, because of the melody. A few of the songs on this soundtrack have hip-hop like beats backing them up; that's a plus for me.

  • @HenryKrinkle666 I think the word you're looking for here is synonymous to "blasphemy."

  • @snoochyboochies22

Yeah you got a point. When I heard the bass I instantly thought of that song lol.

  • got the credits song anwhere? i love this games music

  • My favourite soundtrack in the game

  • Nah, I concurred this level no prob lol

  • Fucking awesome!, thanks so much!
