The part where the narrator said "He wakes up" for the second time in the play through I was worried something happened to my game. Then he said "I'm just foolin" and that's when I knew this is among the greatest games ever made.
He wakes up... I'm just foolin'. He sees what's left of the rippling walls. Years of work, undone in an instant. He sees what's left of Pyth the Bull. The gods, they're all undone. He sees what's left of his life-long friend. His friend, he's come undone too. He sees...what's left...undone.
if you had to choose between pulling the trigger on the sabotaged weapon and destroying (hopefully) only Caelondia, or confessing, and getting arrested or killed, which would you choose?
@SceltorJT You have to feel sorry for the kid. 4 survivors, and one threatens to kill the rest. The Kid's forced into killing so many creatures that are obviously sapient, assloads of Ura, and for what? To fly off and away. Damn.
@SceltorJT My ABSOLUTE favorite part. mainly because of the narration. also, has anyone else noticed that in new game plus, when you start, it sort of drawls "i'll see you in the next one"
"The dead welcome him with open arms, kid pops 'em good... that a survivor? It's the ghost of a lonely Gas 'Fella. Kid succeeds... where the Calamity failed"
Am I the only one who realized this song is ridiculously close to a song that came out in like 2009 by Xavier Naidoo? Really... check it out here: /watch?v=cnajugmHhYc
I don't want to say it was stolen, but the resemblance is kind of suspicious
I'm a graphic design student, and this is my favorite thing to listen to while I do my work. It is great thinking music. I don't just tune it out while I work, instead I hear it, but it is not distracting at all; it blends seemlessly into my projects and is actually a little inspiring. Sorry if none of that really makes any sense.
As a name, "The Mancers" (meaning magic-users) is kind of unsuitable AND appropriate for what they do.
Especially considering that the Caelondians lived with 19th-century tech, and then suddenly they have energy weapons and temporal manipulation devices. WTF
I was sifting through the Bastion OST on youtube, carefully picking the ones i loved and adding them to my favourites.... i just realised I have the entire OST added to my favourites...
This song is in this video that was made 4 years ago. watch?v=MkVLhNTAIVM&feature=channel_video_title at 3:20. Compare it to the music at 0:30 in the Bastion version. What is the original name of this song?
I dont know if im going crazy or not, but has this theme been remixed from a lot of different things? If you search "CUZ IM ASIAN" into the youtube bar, the first 9 seconds.. sounds very familiar right? and that was 3 years old.
I was just listening to a rap song today, pretty sure it's by Ludacris, and they have the same exact low bass part playing in the background as in this song.
Sound developer tryin to make some extra cash on the side?
I was hoping that this was when something dark the kid had done would come out of his past and into his nightmares to kick his ass. But, alas, I got stuck with Evil!Kid, who was really easy. Now, the second time I fought Evil!Kids, well, THAT was a little bit of a challenge...
i would say this game was dark but then i would kinda be wrong since its kind of bright at some bits like when he finds zin and when he makes it to the bastion and all the nice stuff i would say the game is light but then i would be wrong again because there are many sad parts so you know what its a hybred its its TWILIGHT (no not the book) the point in one day where two worlds supposubly combine. when the world is at a very strange and silent peace.
@malivaxx yes but contrast baskicly means one makes the other stand out however the colors blend so well. i would still go with the term *shudders* twilight (CURSE YOU EVIL MOVIE)
@Hothhorn they do mix well due to how well the story is told by the narrator but that don't mean they don't contrast.
your world is shattered, everyone you knew is dead, and there is less then a handful of survivors(and for contrast) but you can fix it, you can set it back(ignoring the surprise at the end).
thats contrast, like if in fallout 3 you found a way to bring the world back to life, and not just clean water for the DC area, but to cleanse it wholly and return it to the pre-war state.
@malivaxx The hope of rebuilding kinda blots out the bleakness of the world ending though. Until the end of the game that is, the final choice is sort of a sophies choice. Doom yourself to the hell of eternal repetition? Or never fix the world and instead just float around on Bastion forever?
@Hothhorn "u know what its a hybred its its TWILIGHT (no not the book) the point in one day where two worlds supposubly combine" Even by mistake ....even by 1/1000000000000000 of a chance dont compare to Twilight ....the book or worse still the movie ............NO ..NO don't even think of it
"He saw his wife-to-be asleep in her bed, but when he touched her, she joined with the ashes in the sky. He then walked back to the Hanging Gardens and stood there, head towards the sky, as if the Gods would answer him."
@HenryKrinkle666 Im not comparing it, just making an obvious observation. The bass from this song and "my chick bad" by Ludacris are EXACTLY THE SAME, and thats a good thing as I REALLY like that beat. Listen to the bass: "Dun, Dun Dun, DaDun, Dadun DaDun DaDun". I actually really liked that particular beat so I noticed it right away. Bastion music is way better than Ludacris tho, if that makes you happy.
@snoochyboochies22 I noticed the exact same thing right away. The beats are the same, which is good, because that beat is awesome. I don't think it's fair to compare Ludacris with Bastion though; they're totally different types of music.
@HenryKrinkle666 Part of the melody is very similar to Ludacris's song, "My Chick Bad." As far as musical tastes go, it's apples and oranges. I really like both songs, because of the melody. A few of the songs on this soundtrack have hip-hop like beats backing them up; that's a plus for me.

@Hothhornno you'd be right in saying its dark.
however you'd also be right in saying its bright.
you see its got one thing that warhammer(bland boring ye'old age and 40K) will never get, contrast.
it sets up the story of the world ending and working to rebuild it, not just mere survival but the steps of rebuilding and restoring.
in these we have both crushing despair at the loss and renewing hope in that we can fix this.
then there is the story of the kid and zia, whos lives actually got better.
