Great footage, but I wish you had thought to tell us which streets you were walking on. I shot a roll of film, also, & the only place I can easily identify is one with a street sign in the photo.
my grandfather was the battalion cheif that died and ill tell u all right now what pisses me off is that they still never fixed the road i will never let someone die in vein like he did he was a hero but there was noway to get out
I remember what the hills over Lake Temescal looked like... it looked like a graveyard, all that were left were people's brick chimneys. It was scary the next weekend when it rained because the hills were steaming. I think i was maybe 7 years old?
I was working with thoroughbreds at Golden Gate Fields when this happened. We all thought at first some aircraft had crashed until we saw the fire coming up over the top. I raced with a friend who was living there at the time and we spent the vast majority of the day up on top of his roof and a neighbor's roof soaking down and keeping the shingles wet all day long. You could feel the heat from the first from where we were. It was the most intense and wildest thing I've ever seen.
I live in Oakland Hills, thank god fire didn't reach my neighborhood but I didn't sleep 3 nights watching TV reports and the scene from 580 was like something from Dante inferno..

This appear to have been taken a short distance from my home which was lost in the fire. You never really get over an event like this.
