Vartan was born in Iskretz, Sofia Province, Bulgaria. Her father George was a Bulgarian]. He worked as an attaché at the French embassy in Sofia. Her mother Illona was Hungarian.[2]
She is french pop singer, born in Bulgaria, a bulgarian but not ethnic bulgarian, she is mixed from parents of armenian and hungarian ethnic groups. What a rich mix ! She is great :)
She is bulgarian girl! And that is all! You are mixed! Ha- ha! For her speack only song's like" La Maritza" "Облаче ле бяло" ...... The rest is propagande of french!

Yes, Sylvie Vartan certainly is our star, and a star who shines very brightly! She truly is a wonderful person and has done a lot to help Bulgaria, particularly the underprivileged children there. She is the pride of Bulgaria and the world needs more people like her!
La Maritza is essentially the story of my "grand escape" from the Iron Curtain! There was also a 4th person who came along with me, my mother and my uncle. She was a distant cousin. Sylvie Vartan also left her homeland almost the same way as I did with a group of 4 people, which included her parents and her brother Eddie although it was about 10 years earlier.

GREAT VIDEO GEORGE. It keeps getting better all the time.
When I hear this song now it brings to mind of you, your mom
and uncle getting out of Bulgaria.
