  • What is the model?

  • hey, im looking for a distortion stombox for a punk/rock/grunge and a bit of metal. what would you recommend? please reply, thanks in advance.

  • @yangadoshi

I'd go with the Carl Martin Crush Zone, if you can still find them. I believe they went out of production. The Cool Cat Drive (V1/V2 - doesn't matter much) is better for bluesy overdrive.

  • Hi Robert, you should do a lesson on one of your faster licks at 1:00, it sounds great!

  • great feeling! ;)

  • Nice sound, Great playing - thanks for all your reviews, I appreciate them.

  • DAMN COOL

  • You definately have an ear for melody. Great tasty playing! I ended up buying both the Danelectro Drive and Transparent OD. Lucky me the music store had both pedals in version 1. They hadn't heard about internet buzz about them being discontinued for copyright issues.

  • @pissballs

I just came back from a surf shop, of all places, that had a few guitars and a dusty display of the version 1 pedals sitting there. I already own a CO-1, but managed to grab another one AND the Transparent OD for $55!! Couldn't believe my luck.

  • great playing, I really like the blues sounds. One question, you get a hell of a lot of tonal variety and expression out of your playing dynamics, but I wonder how much of that is down to the pedal itself and how much is down to the amp you are playing through - just wondering how the same riffs would sound with this pedal and a solid state amp? I guess its a cheap pedal, so will appeal to those with limited budgets who maybe can't run to a decent tube all-tube amp.

  • THis guy can jam! You know it once you hear the notes flying lol. I like Dano stuff and this Drive was definately worth a listen.

  • it's really surprising how nice danelectro pedals are. and at those prizes it's hard to beat. you should check out the video by gearman where he puts a danelectro od up to a fulltone ocd

  • Really nice demo..

    5 stars!

I think i have to try this pedal. It cost's no more that a cola and a pizza slice anyway :P

  • Nice hat dude (srs)

  • i cant work with that pedal

  • I really feel ur playing bro..

  • damn how come all guys like you aren't in famous bands? You got some skills bro.

  • Good play! Nice pedal!

  • bad look !!! lol!!!

but good sound and very good player

thank for you're demo Rotren !!!

  • great phrasing!

  • AMAZING! I have to get one now.

  • You are a fun guy to watch Robert. Thanks for all the lessons.

  • wonderful blues playing liking the clothes too!

  • Nice cap mate

  • Yeah, looks like Poochie, the star guest in Itchy & Scatchy.

  • Yeah! LOL! It was so retarded how he left the show!

They just lifted Poochie up the screen saying he was going to return to his planet!!!!!!!

  • Awesome hat.

  • I dunno...sounds pretty good to me. Can't beat that price either.

  • overdrive is a weaker version of distortion right?

  • Basically yeah.

  • sort of... overdrive implies a few things. first of all, having a tone imitating or inspired by tube amp overdrive. it is also implied that it will have enough volume to distort a tube amp. a distortion pedal implies that the tone is tube-inspired, but differs from an OD in that it is not meant to supplement amp overdrive, and has enough gain on its own. a fuzz implies the same as the distortion, with the exception that the tone is not imitative of tube dirt. many pedals are mislabeled however.

  • Overdrive is more crunchy....Distortion is well, distortion...

  • the material of pedal is metal or plastic?

  • i think metal and it's also true b

  • It's metal

  • turn your hat around goofball

  • lol

  • that goofball tore that shit upXD

  • haha

  • got the same guitar same colour aswell with the daker brown pick guard

  • I have this mothballed. It will sound good when you pick lightly, then, shave your ears off when you wack the strings. The distortion sound is scratchy to my ears. You can offset that with the tone knob but then it's limited to dark sounds although it keeps tempting you to raise the brightness. I play a faded SG/'65 Deluxe.

I replaced it with a Delta Lab TD-1 which I am totally happy with and costs ~$50USD.

I'm sure I would enjoy a demo of the deltalab td-1 from you, rotren.

  • @nicethugbert

I know this was from 2 years ago, but I had to comment when I saw you use the same setup as me-SG/65 Deluxe. I have a similar experience w/ mine. I prefer the Transparent OD, but this guy gets a great tone from his Drive, so maybe it just isn't suited to my setup and playing style. It's good and usable, but it just doesn't FEEL as good as I hoped.

  • very Nice man :) Nice play and nice sound :)

  • really feeling the playing..can you post some vids on how to some of the fast licks!!

  • Really great playing!

  • What's with the horrible compression/limiting? I sure hope that was added in post-processing. Sounds like an On-Off DJ compressor...

  • You are a tone monster rotren!

  • it's an ocd clone

  • i'd really love if you could do a demo of the Dano Cool Cat "transparent overdrive" to compare it with this one...

    Really nice demo. 5 stars.

  • Drive

  • wait, so is this the Drive or the Transparent Overdrive pedal?

  • Drive, it says as per title

  • you are a really good guitarist! i like your blues licks.

  • what is itis it just a mini amp

  • no, its a effects pedal/stomp box.

  • is this the silver one?

  • yes

  • yes, he show pic on is site.

  • realy great tone...i love this sound...

  • are there any cables included if you buy one?

  • Nope

  • Does this sound anything like a tubescreamer? I don't know what a tubescreamer sounds like good enough to tell.

  • IMO, not really.

  • It actually sounds betta for me!

  • It kind of sounds like a tubescreamer, but it's definitely not a TS clone.

  • AWESOME YOUR THE BEST!

  • Love your playing man. Great licks around 2:50 :-D

  • Hey Robert. Do you think it has enough gain to use it as distortion? I am thinking to sell my Proco rat 2 and buy the two overdrives and the fuzz.

  • Hmmm, good question. It depends on how much gain you need. It might - you should try it. It's so cheap so why not get one anyway?

  • Great Sounds!

Please tell me, CT-1 or CTO-1 which is it?

  • I'm pretty sure it is the CO-1 because that has a "drive" option on the right side. The other distortion has a gain option.

  • You seem like an educated person......

  • lol

  • @foaminggypsy

    NO WONDER YOU'RE JUST A F*CK**NG GYPSY!

  • Jesus. This guy is scary good. Great demo man. And great blues!

  • cant get enough of this guy .... The TONE!!! just goes to show it's the guitarist not the guitar sounds hot on a $250 tele I cry myself to sleep after listening to this guy cuz he's much better than I. love it

  • An affordable overdrive!! I may just try one of these. You got a decent amp, nice guitar, and obviously years of playing. Noticed you teach. :) This could add just enough bite to the rhythm channel on my 5150.

  • z0mg ur hat is will smiths! in fresh prince of belaire!! z0mg i luv it! >.^

  • lol hell yah

  • a little too much drive for chords i think!

  • this type of blues i can dig!

  • yes..very nice tone..but im gussing its that yummy amp!

  • Which would sound like a cat with a stick up it's ass if it wasn't for the VERY skilled guitarist at the helm.

C'mon man, give the dude his due.

  • Word brother. Dude has mad skills. KILLER playing.

  • Man, I know people get on here and talk about your tone...but, Jesus. Even through the compression of YouTube you sound great. Thanks for the awesome videos!

  • fantastic!

  • 5 stars and great telecaster

  • I think it's a squier, which he talked about in another video. I'm no sure though.

  • yea it is, he installed dimarzio noiseless pickups in it

  • Yay, first view. What amp is that?

  • It's a Heatseeker 18 watt EL84 head. Made by Mack Amps.
