  • do you need to be a fireman to become a Hazmat?

  • @350z350zify Good Morning & Thanks for stopping by FirehouseMike... You don't have to be a Firefighter to be involved in the Hazmat Community. Depending on where you live some County Hazmat Teams are managed by the Division of Homeland Security (DHS) or the Local Emergency Planning Commission (LEPC). Depending on your educational back ground you may be a civilian asset for the team. You can also look at any of the Private Contractors or Private Industrial Clean-up Companies out there.

  • @FirehouseMike thanks! (:

  • well... I think it's a bit odd to see the trainer in normal clothes

  • @jnightstar Since it's a simulated situation most instructors will be in street close or day wear. This a very common practice for the fire service in the United States. Thanks for stopping by & commenting on my videos. Best regards...

  • Just keep in mind these suits have some resistance but are NOT puncture proof. Manage your breathing, and think through the problem. Move slowly but deliberately.

  • Thanks for stopping by FirehouseMike and commenting on the videos... You're correct about the puncture issues and we cover them in the classroom portion... The main focus of this workshop is to build confidence in working your way through reduced profile situations.

    Best regards & stay safe.

  • hazmat guys/girls

    have big balls.

    much respect.

  • hell yeah, i could NEVER do that

  • ooo ok thanks alot =O

  • cool i wana be a haz mat lol looks hard... so what do they do it for? like incase of a virsus scare?

  • Hey... Thanks for the comment/question... Kingdemon815 you can do whatever you want. Just set a goal benchmark your requirements to meet that goal and work on one benchmark at a time and before you know it you'll be what you wished to be.

  • Now as for what these guys are doing in this video... We teach the Hazmat Responder how to handle tough situations and the panic that may be seen when you're in the Hot Zone when something goes wrong. Hazmats can be chemical or bio-hazards and the different suits have different perposes.

  • This training is to get the Responder to think about in suit Emergnecies. We put them through physically tough tasks to cause them stress so they can work on managing the Panic Factor.
