Imagine coming across that score. It would look like braille. If we didn't live in this modern world with our universities like we have this would never happen.
honestly every single note in Kissins performance is as clear water. Kissins technique is so demanding on the notes that none cant even get by Kissin. this is thee best interpretation i and we will possibly ever hear. not everyone will agree on me and i can accept that. this piece is all about technicality but somehow with ease, Kissin puts emotion and feeling into the piece. Kissin . . . . love you forever
I don't usually comment on videos on youtube because I don't like to get into the youtube comment fights everybody's in, but PLEASE think before commenting to these videos. This is a very unreasonable and uneducated response to this video. Who made you the expert? Do you know anything about piano or music???
@donaldcallen You are right: 1:33- was a moment of slip, and there is another later. However, nic-picking rested, this is still an exceptional performance.
Beautifully played. Younger Kissin (as in this vid) appears better focused on music itself, sharper, more agile, and delightfully crispier.... A true prodigy, no doubt. I have a Russian colleague; he takes Kissin as a national pride, a pianist second to none. I certainly agree with him regarding this performance: second to none.
@PowerofTrueInsight I was wondering what you feel about the current Kissin. To me, it seemed that he was trying to force his artistic development, and there was a long period where he made a huge amount of recordings that were plagued by breathing issues, and a horrible misuse of rubato to try and seem poetic, especially in Chopin.
The young Kissin was a wonder, but then the older Kissin is someone the New York Times critic can recommend a coach for.
the ending kills me everytime I watch it! Not only he is a prodigy but also, after a beautiful performance, he bows 2 times and just leaves the stage like nothing happened...O.O <3 Evgeny!
@donaldcallen Yeah it is a pretty good performance. I find a lot of Kissin's later work to be pompous and generally underwhelming and that probably influenced my original post. Either that or I was just in a bad mood. : )
as far as i'm concerned, people have commented on kissin's hairstyle before. so why am i not allowed this freedom of expression? i obviously listened to kissin's music (this isn't exactly the most popular video on all of youtube), but i liked it enough to not comment on the more trivial things i didn't like about his performance.

I was just wondering...how difficult is this in comparison to Prokofiev's other works? Like Toccata for example?
Darklord12356 2 years ago
His style of playing really commands each note. Nothing gets by Kissin. This is the best!
