  • The title is misleading. I was expecting something informative about an ALT's experience... It REALLY should have been titled "Students do silly things for an ALT holding a camera for 2.5 minutes."

  • I really want to go to school as an exchange student, but I like to spike the the tip of my hair. Will they make me take it down? :( I always have this hairstyle

  • i envy them!!!!!

  • there was hiruma of "eyeshield 21" on the blackboard!!!!! 0:46-0:49

  • haroshimi masho

  • OMG do they really run the floor like that when cleaning?! If so that is crazy and kind of cool

  • I'm soooooo glad that I can get a degree with just a GED, I'd love to spend the rest of my life in Japan! School isn't for everyone. o>o

  • The girl w/ the short black hair's pretty ^.^

  • Jealousy has come upon MEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! MUST.GO.TO.JAPAN!!!!!

  • I think Japanese people are shy ... as I have read about them .

but, I think it's just the contrary

  • Doesn't look like in all the films with problems, bullying and stuff XD Friendly guys

  • Everyone loves Japan so much. I was drilled that these people are evil cause a bunch of bored ones crushed my grandfather's feet with a hammer when he was a war prisoner. (That's how they woke him up from sleeping one day)

  • @DeutscherausRussland

Yeah, the imperial Japanese were a whole different situation. They were pretty damn brutal during the war, like the Germans and the Russians. Humane treatment of prisoners has an interesting historic development. Even now the concept isn't a given for a lot of people in the world.

I wouldn't let the past poison your present. Cruel things happen to people all the time. Would you hate every man because someone you knew was raped?

  • @heatslap

    Youtube -

They Sold Their Souls For Rock And Roll

  • theirs like one white guy in the entire school lol

  • hmm school looks like fun but its about to nuke its self should study abrode in japan or not?

  • I WANT TO GO SOOOOO BADLY!!!

    ...need...teleport....lol

  • ''YEA'' xD haha

  • Hello , i wanted to ask something, i really wanna go to japan but i'm pretty scared. Like i'm not american or european but latin american and i've hard a lot of people saying they won't be nice to you!. I don't want to believe it because japan people seems to be really nice but you know i'm still scared. If i go there, will it be easy to me to have friends, or it will be difficult!?

  • @cutiesnsd It really depends on a lot of things. Generally speaking you will be welcomed. That said, it depends on where you go, why you go there (student?), and how old you are. In big cities, you won't be anything special. In small towns, you will be more interesting as a foreigner. If you go to teach English, you will be welcomed, if you are just a tourist with no connections, you will seen as someone passing through. If you are a student, you will make friends without a problem.

  • @heatslap Yes, as a student. Thank you so much, i hope it will be easy to me to make friends there. Thank you so much ^^

  • Thye look look like they're enjoying themselves. Just like we all did before we graduated.....

  • they all are so cute!! T^T

  • Were people still nice to you even though you were not from Japan? (I don't want to sound like an idiot, and I'm not trying to be stereotypical) but my mother is taking a business trip to japan and I might have to go to a middle school there. I'm a bit fluent in Japanese but I'm still learning. I'm 13, but would girls still be nice to me?

  • @lalala123able Yes. If you are a good person, people will be nice to you. They will probably be extra nice to you, in fact. But you will be expected to quickly learn how to act in Japanese culture. The schools are more strict than western schools. You will have to learn to be quiet and respectful but if you can, they will treat you as if you are really special.

  • @heatslap Awesome!! I've always been quiet (which is very natural haha) and respectful in school and around a lot of people! ^_^

    I sooooo wish I was there! :)

  • is the school work hard?

  • Wish i had uniforms in my school, cuz atleast noone could make fun of you for what your wearing cuz they're wearing the same thing!Oh and loved that anime drawing <3

  • japanese girls <3 yum

  • Hey, did you get permission from your Kocho-sensei to shoot this video? I kinda want to do a video like this but afraid it's going to cause problems -_-

  • @Blogginjapan Yeah, it is a tricky situation. I was told that I couldn't put up any pictures or video of the students where any of the student's faces are recognizable. In fact, I had a youtube for each of my schools but I had to take them all down. The problem is that students can be stalked from the videos. The students in these videos have graduated from high school at this point so I don't feel too bad. Also, I don't openly say where this is. I don't know.

  • @heatslap

I was wondering what % of ALT teachers in Japan are really serious teachers vs. what % are "Clowns" who came to Japan because they couldn't find a job back in their native country? Sorry to ask this kind of bold question but I've encountered way tooooo many Clowns in my country who are teaching the English language.

Of course, I understand that ALT are not the typical Clowns you encounter at NOVA or GEOS or other mcEnglish schools.

    Merry Xmas.

  • @novajoke I think the biggest problem is not that ALTs are bad people as much as they are often just big children. By that, I mean that a lot are hired right after University without ever having worked or having any responsibility. They think it is just "the party continued." The best ALTs I have met in my five years were the ones that were a bit older. Remember that ALTs fall into two groups, JET and all the rest. JET's interview process. Still, a high % of clowns are around Japan for sure.

  • @heatslap

Thanks for your insight! Yes "extended vacation"!

I don't mind people who enjoys teaching the English language as well as respecting Japanese cultures, customs, manners, etc. etc. instead of "Clowns" who like to play race card game/I'm a victim because I'm a Gaijin when in fact it's their own fault for not learning the Japanese language.

Thanks for the video and Merry Xmas again!

  • look at that a nice sweet, innocent and drug free school. Glad I'm not japanese.

  • @Clockninja haha

  • Hiruma!! eyesheild 21

  • zjapan is so cool

  • ru a teacher there?

  • @BazhoStudios No, I am not a teacher there now. I was a teacher there for 5 years. In short, IM not a T-cher NE more.

  • wapaneseee!!

  • woah, they totally exaggerate high school uniforms in animes, making them look all cute and stuff, hahaha!! not that i was expecting the uniforms to look like that

  • @TinaTiny24 Just for the record, this is a JUNIOR high school. High school uniforms are a bit more "cute and stuff." That said, each high school has a different uniform and some are more conservative than others, depending on the academic level of the school and it's location in Japan.

  • aedfuhqeuoifhqeiurfhwqueiofhqweiuh qwehifquowehf OMG i spoke japanese!!!!! Lol jk XP The high school life in japan looks fun but little do we know that there is a japanese high school student somewhere watching "Life in an American high school".....

  • STEPHEN CARL MURPHY

  • japan is awesome

  • I envy you...

  • i wanna get a japanese guirl ..... they are so attractive ..... here what do we have .. fat and arrogant guirls ... no thank you ..... viva japan !

  • @coctailaqua maybe u only can get the fat and arrogant one haha not only japan have hot girls

  • I wonder why they all gave teh peace sign. XD In texas it's nothing but people giving you weird looks if your filming them or smiling nervously then walking away.

  • 0:49 haha, thats from eyeshield 21 ^^

  • lol are these the after school clubs? is that why they are in there gym uniforms? XD love this btw! nice job!

  • ohh i see..that is interesting..lol

  • omg the dude thats video taping is soo cute (*.*) I'm sure life in japan is fun as hell:D

  • tan recagados

  • notice they love doing the peace sign alot..hahah

but this video is funny..i like it..lol

  • @missyingster It's actually "V for victory" they're doing. Japanese *love* doing that hand-sign. Well, kids, anyway.

  • @jannimorandy You are an idiot.

  • @heatslap do you think we know what your saying you too jannimorandy well no!!!!!...

  • @april76301 Sorry. jannimorandy is a racist Japanese person who doesn't like foreign people in Japan. His comment reads, "Without the ability to speak Japanese, how do you teach English. You idiot." I replied to him in Japanese (rather sarcastically). In short I said that I am an English teacher because I am fluent in English (not Japanese) and that Einstein wasn't a gym teacher. In short, you teach what you know. It isn't like I was there to teach Japanese.

  • @heatslap Well, any Japanese--even a kid-- who reads the comments of jannimorandy can tell at a glance that he/she is not a real Japanese because these words are so unnatural and making terrible mistakes both in syntax and vocabulary. I wonder why jannimorandy pretends to be a Japanese expressing those vulgar, racist and even incomplete Japanese phrases.

  • @jannimorandy 日本で日本人の英語教師も英語を喋れないことが多いだよ。君はALTの意味と知っている?文句があれば日本政府にやる。 Do you know many Japanese native English teachers in Japan can't communicate orally in English? Do you understand the meaning of ALT? If you have complaints, talk to your own government (obviously the one who created this program).

  • @jannimorandy

    ALT=Assistant Language Teacher

    在日みたいなことやってんじゃねぇよ白痴

  • Pretty cool man. Respect.

  • what is the name of this song it sounds good

  • looks like all are real brothers and sisters...they all look like same.....

  • its soo cool i have it in my playlist check it out ^-^

  • colonized country, at all..everything seems like a big game written by big brother and western world,, that is it fucking bastards

  • What school do you teach at I wanna go there as an exchange student =D

  • oi! i like this song, very nice beat who sings it?

  • Kansai kids just seem cooler lol

  • @sk8tertater Kansai in general, or a specific location?

  • @BlueDragonMaster98 Well, the only ones that go to my school are from Osaka. But compared to Chiba kids, they be cooler

  • awww, i wanna go there, too. my school in germany is quite boring -.-

  • hey i'm going to Japan as a transfer student next year. any good high scools? :D

  • looks like fun...if that was here in ireland you'd see a lot of zombies and wankers trying to act hard lol.

  • I am an American and I want to teach in Japan as a English teacher. Preferably in Kyoto. What would you recommend for me to do to make the transition to a Japanese life style? And what would you recommend for me to prepare to go there, I still haven't gotten a teaching degree yet, but I will be working on it soon.

  • @TwilightKitsune89 You need a college degree. Kyoto isn't such an easy place to teach as everyone and their mother wants to go there. You don't need a teaching degree but if you really want to make life in Japan your future, get a ESL or a TEFL degree. Research into the "JET programme". Also, you can try "interac" as it gives you more of a chance to pick where you go (but less money, benefits, support). Lastly, it isn't necessary but it's a good idea to study some Japanese.

    Good luck.

  • @TwilightKitsune89 You do too? Cool. I prefer Tokyo, but I hear Kyoto is great as well.

  • what the ALT means?

  • @animeloved

    "Assistant of Language Teacher"

  • Wow. You're a teacher in Japan?? That's so cool. I wanna go there. Their schools look so awesome.

  • OUTSTANDING

  • beeeeeccckkkkkkkkkk

  • than k you s o much^^

  • they all look so happy ^_^

  • OMG i soooooooo wana go to Japan now!!!!!!

  • Thx for sharing. Nice to see you read comments too.

What about french in Japan ? I know it is used in some meal they eat, but what about nowadays life, how they communicate between themselves ?

  • @RedSword69

I have been here for 5 years and French is basically only used as borrowed words (as you said, usually for food). Every Japanese person studies English for years and years during school but they don't use it to communicate between themselves and French is thousands of times less popular here as a language of study. I have heard of one girl who studied French in my 5 years. That said, I live in the countryside so maybe it would be more popular in cities.

  • Hi dude. Thx for sharing this video. It's fun to see you're reading comments too.

I've a question for you : what have you seen of french language since you arrived in Japan ?

I know they use it for some meal ("parfait", "framboise"), but what about when they talk between themselves ?

  • erm what is a ALT? xD sorry if my question is dumb and alsoo..... err how much a ticket to japan cost?

  • Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) a native English teachers almost universally fill this role. Google "JET program"

Prices for tickets are pretty expensive from American, Australia and Europe but if you happen to live in Asia, it isn't so bad.

  • a ok thanks :) but i live in canada xD so yeah let's say really expensive ^^"

  • Very cool dude. Love it.

  • 1:07

Oh geez, that looks like fun! :D Lol. I've always wanted to tie mops to my feet and slide around a floor that needed washing. Sounds fun to me. :D That looks like another version of that. :D

  • just got to thinking, they are really nice over there,

i mean they greet you etc. when u walk by them,

we have a foreign student from japan in my school and pretty much no one greets, ppl just walks by.

dont really know why i made a comment on this --- but are japanese that cheerful and nice to you when you are a foreign exchange student ?

coz it isnt here in my school, kinda sad :(

  • He teaches English to them, from what I've read on his other video and when we have our Japanese kids come to our school, they aren't really anywhere and they are viewing the school to much for us to say hi, plus most don't know Japanese. Even if many of us have Japanese backgrounds.

  • i have watched this video a million times, and now i finally realized who it is they drew on the black board O.o hiruma from EyeShield 21 xD

  • わたしもにほんでおいしてましたりあ。

  • Wow. It looks so fun there. If only schools were fun like that here. Nice vid by the way.

  • Focusing too much on the guys... Needs more girls!

  • true

  • Im jealous,.. i want to go to japan to!!!

  • hi i 'am saffe from philippines can i made you as your friend... just made a comment w/ me

  • Man, I wish that I could go to a japanese school.

It looks like it would be so fun~

  • how did u get over there?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Look into the JET Programme. I am an English teacher in a Japanese public school.

  • yow heatslap Damn u! im really envious! grrr... so how was life in japan? im from the philippines so we're both in asia! but ive never been to japan.

  • ばかですか?

  • 誰なの?

  • I would normally simply erase this ill-informed, hate-spewing, racist garbage but I will keep it up as an example of just how idiotic and pathetic humans can be. So, everyone, please take this pitiful chump as an example of how NOT to think.

  • @heatslap - oh man what u are awesome !these kinds of shits are everywhere . ( talking about of TyraBanksNoI )

  • @TyraBanksNoI You are an idiot and a fucking racist.

  • America has a lot more of those. I bet you got porn mags scattered all over the floor!

  • like ur country is full of mother fuckers like you na .

  • lol, HYYYPOCRITE? :) Youre the one thats being racist.

  • You're strange.

  • @TyraBanksNol

    You just described America...

    Not Japan...

  • wahahahah......yuichi from eyeshield 21!!!!!!!

  • I would love to go to a japanese school. My school is so boring

  • i love japan!...even though i haven't been there..hehe but i'd love to go 2 school there ^_^

  • And btw; Those who are looking for the soundtrack in this video ...it's 'Beck - This Girl That I Know'.

It's a rare soundtrack from that I heard so you might need to search a bit for it, if you like.

  • If you look different you can expect a unique treatment one way or another. It's normal that you are viewed as exceptional if they don't see your color type often, weather you are white or black.

But what Heatslap said below is most likely what you can expect (third comment of his downwards).

And last but not least, it doesn't need to mean that the general public is straight forward racist ...but just not familiar how to deal with different skin based people.

  • Ha. when i go to Japan gonna show them some tricks. Amazing!!!

  • u guys r lucky i wish i could life in japan it looks fun

  • Heatslap, what's the name of the soundtrack? Thanks in advance :)

  • the boy in the beginning was funny and cute ^^xDDD

  • arigato~

  • Hm..

I'm a white female visiting Japan this coming Summer.. so should I beware of flying insults because I'm American?..and if anything else White with blond hair? lol.

  • No, don't worry. They'll love you.

  • And how is it when you are dark skinned?

They just dont care do they?

  • 0:49 Hiruma from the anime eyeshield 21!(WOW i remember the name)

  • i always wanted to live in a small town in japan and go to a school like this, cause everyone looks so happy, not like in america theres drug addicts and bullies everywhere im my highschool. but most asians have parents that disipline them. :( too bad i can only be young once, maybe i can raise my children in japan thatll be nice. (im asian ill fit right in)

  • man they know how to let loose i wud b all stiff if they pointed that camera at me

  • That's a really good point. I am not really sure how to account for it.

  • @2118viper most asians love having fun and knows how to let lose! as a matter of fact.... they're pretty lose most of the time

  • o i c

  • So both of are information is correct, it just depends where you go.

  • Yeah, that is true. You are both right. I have lived in Japan for 5 years now. White foreigners are the "preferred" foreigner (unless you are Russian since there is a bit of a Russian bias in some places). African Americans are also well treated but they will receive a fair amount of racism here simply because people don't know what is right or wrong to say to them (due to little experience). Racism through ignorance rather than ill-will. But we are all foreign to them, for better or for worse.

  • asian people is the only in the world who clean the aula after lessons!Let learn from this Peoples..ASIA THE BEST

  • dude, u r correct

  • man seeing this vid makes me wish i was never born in the u.s. :(

  • How tall are really Japanese girls and boys? I'm 1,90m tall and I do not wanna feel like the tallest boy on the school xD

  • how can u tell which is a girl or boy they all look the same?? FUCK IM CONFUSED!!!

  • japanese high school looks like to much fun! what are those little sliding doors that they're pushing open with their feet, like at 0:05?

  • The walls have little windows down low and up high so the school can get a good cross-breeze in summer. Works wonderfully.

  • I agree with you on that, American schools SUCK! No offense to my country, but I would like to transfer to Japan for college.

  • why?

  • I need a change of scenery and culture.

  • oooohhhh

  • and be bullied just because you are not japanese.

  • Actually no, if you are a white/black American the Japanese treat you REAL well. Quote from people I know who have been to Japan.

  • Actually, not exactly, No matter if you are American (Born in North America, america is a continent) or Chinese or else, if you are not japanese, you are foreigner. Japanese people are racists at some point, Quote from me, I have been there many times visiting my wife parents (Wife is japanese) and suffered acts of racism every now and then. (But mostly on big cities like Tokyo, wife parents live in a small town in Yonago, no problems there)
