I like Carlin, but he's dead wrong. Most accomplishments use the knowledge accumulated over centuries. Taking pride in one's people is the highest form of respect, it's respecting the genetic basis of one's civilization.

I saw him do this show last week here in Pittsburgh, PA. From this clip he changed his wording up a little bit, and some of his stuff from this clip wasn't in his show last week. Personally, I thought it was hilarious.

Gay people have gay pride because they have to go through adversity. Growing up they are told to be ashamed of who they are by society, thus lot of gay teens commit suicide. Gay pride is a way of saying, "I am not ashamed of who I am and I am proud of myself for standing here today." Black pride exist for the same reason. But there is no such thing as "white pride" or "straight pride" because being white and straight is being advantaged in this society.

I have seen Carlin 4 times since 1997 and each time he had notes. He even tells the audience that he is preparing for HBO.

I just missed him when he came through town last year. I'm glad he's trying new material though. He certainly has a lot as it is, but his last couple HBO specials have mostly been revisions of previous bits. And this new material kicks ass.
