I remember when I first saw this video on Top of the Pops in 1969. I think it might have been the first pop song with a video. It was fantastic then and it's still fantastic. Until today never thought to see if the original video was on Youtube and lo here it is. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@maryseacole58 Yeah, Davy and Mike hated the Pop trash that was being written for them, and eventually got free of their awful contract so they could make their own music.
This was a great song. I remember when it came out. Nobody shows the Archies anymore. Who were the voices? I miss these cartoons. The cartoons and music today suck!
I remember buying the 45 rpm of this song when I was around 11 or 12 years old. it was the first record I bought at K-mart. Ah the memories! I would play it over and over and over!
I remember buying the 45 rpm of this song when I was around 11 or 12 years old. it was the first record I bought at K-mart. Ah the memories! I would play it over and over and over!
khoinguyen2204 : That's Hotdog, the one new thing they added to Archie for the TV cartoon over the comics (besides the idea they had a band--the token non-violent Saturday Morning late-60s swing of things, ie Sabrina and Groovie Ghoolies, Josie and the Pussycats, etc etc, I'm amazed they never had the Scooby-Do bunch go that way...)
DavidNettleton: Cartoons don't talk back! Don Kirshner was also getting tired of The Monkees. I agree, this song would've been perfect for them and likely their third #1 single.
I can't believe the Doors never got their own Cartoon Series like the Archies even though the Doors will eternally be remembered as the greatest "Bubble Gum" AM Radio Group of the 60's...Dan Nealon
COOL...have seen the music part of this in various permutations (David Steinberg's comments when it appeared on his show are classic)...but can't remember this one...for all I know i did see it, but fantastic to see it now...5*****
I remember when this song came out, and they pressed a thin vinyl copy of it on the back of a cereal box -- either Captain Crunch or Sugar Pops I think, but not sure. I cut it out and put it on the turntable just to see if it played, and it did.
Steve Haddican - Can you watch the Kissing Booth while I do the Scentsy Fundraiser at Play this weekend? Enjoy the video - hey this is going to be my new ring tone! I will be warming Sugar!
I've seen a live action video of this song, filmed outdoors in (I guess) LA or SF, and featuring THE hottest babe in a hight t-shirt dancing. Only saw it once on TV.
To answer that davy jones felt it was a kids song for bubblegum band so he n others n network then said No ....let ron dante n jeff barry n toni wine do it also richie adam also did some work n co wrote song....he also did songs n sang on the Bananna splits show
@rockerchic63 I don't remember the episode but somehow I totally remember Veronica doing that little dance and that goofy dog, so I'm right up there with you age-wise. Who cares! We were kids without computers, ipods, cell phones - we watched TV, read books and played outside - our schools didn't have metal detectors and the worse we saw was a kid get into trouble on an Afterschool Special. I don't mind being my age when I see what kids go through now - it sure ain't the Archies & Sugar Sugar.
We are defiantly from the same era. I loved watching the Archies, Scooby Doo, and the Partridge Family. My kids love computers, but thank goodness, they love to play outside more. We could play outside from dawn till dusk , and never had to check in with our parents, unless we were eating over at a friends house. That is the only thing that scares me raising kids now. But I would have loved to have been a teenager in the 50's I love the cars, music & clothes of that era.
@rockerchic63 IT WAS A PROGRAMME????? omigosh, i was like 5 when i heard this song on the 'top 40 hits' lol... im 13 now,, i just thought it was a song:$?
Good music
