One of the best bands ever. Their music brings back so many good memories living in Kingwood, Texas in the 90's. Got to see them live and front row stage, they were awesome.
super, this is where i first came across The Sundays painting walls in my parents house one August months before the album came out with the video on super channel one afternoon.Amazing band, sorely missed, tivoli dublin gig in my top 5 of all time.
This was the first sundays song i fell in love with, along with here's where the story ends, & when i listen to this one i get a kind of feeling i can't really explain, closest comparison might be a kind of patriotism i think, a wonderfull song.
I first saw this on the chart show in 1990 when it got to number 1 in the indie chart, thanks for putting it up, its a pity they are not around anymore.
I love The Sundays, I was heading to college and discovering all of these wonderful alternative music, The Sundays, Innocence Mission, The Cranes, The Cranberries, etc. but The Sundays was my first love.
It really was a stroke of genius to keep the rhythm section subdued until the final 50 seconds or so. At the very point where most pop songs are winding down with "ad-lib to fade" etc, they're finally unveiling that soaring full-bodied arrangement . And, of course, on repeat listens you come to anticipate that upward shift from the beginning. Still works for me...
If you have any doubt as to Harriet's talent, try singing this. It's fucking hard! Yet she does it SO beautifully. She has such harmony - one of the best singers of her time. Thanks for posting this.
Who said anything about need? If the UK isn't as shallow as the US, why in the world were those no-talent hacks with nice racks so popular there in the UK?
Kudos to you for putting it up! lets hope it stays up.. You-tube would do wisely to stop censoring and java discriminating - it will only act against them
I've been a fan for almost 20 years now, and I would like to thank Harriet and Dave for the great music. I too, wish for more. But after 11 years, I learned to not hold my breath anymore! Too bad, they rank among the best in my opinion.
Harriet Wheeler (the lead singer) is my aunt :) she's still around lol, but her and her husband dont publish music anymore, they have a recording studio though :)
If you're not pulling our leg about her being your aunt - please tell her to please make it possible for us fans to hear whatever her and her husband are doing in the studio. We would love to hear it. Make a web page and stick some mp3 files on it and a link to Paypal or something. Don't bother with record labels and contracts, just make it available.
I'd love to hear more. The Sundays is one of my all time favorite bands ever. It's heartbreaking that they only released three albums.
@matte250992 Tell your aunt there is a die hard fan from Saudi Arabia who's been touched by the grace of your music and voice. God bless her and David wherever they are.
Let's see how long it takes for the multinational record company that owns the rights to stop us watching this. The Sundays' video I uploaded lasted one week before there were viewing restrictions imposed on it (like "this video is not available in your country" blah blah).
