to me, I prefer window's over mac, because I'm the type who builds their own pc's, not buy them pre built. I prefer gaming over editing and surfing the web. But like others have already stated, they both have their pros and cons. Windows is for people who are gamers, and for people who don't want to spend as much, macs are better for people who do editing with pictures and videos.

Try getting your MAC cleaned. Usually the 'shutoff/powerdown' is either cause by an overheating CPU or dirt in the cooling lanes. We had an HP with WinXp do the same thing..

Its a firmware issue, it was fixed, the only reason you hear anything about it at all is that quality issues are so rare with macs, unlike the 309238420934 different PC manufacturers...it's like comparing an Audi (Mac) to a Chevy (PC), better reliability, quality, and performance.

OSX is only compatible with limited hardware... easy example are video cards. Hell MAC is supposed to be used for graphics yet cant even run video cards in Parallel - SLI
The few things that a MAC do faster ( some animation and rendering) you can do much faster usung UBUNTU which is NOT locked down.

I need to send it in again however (so much for new being reliable), as my screen contantly flickers (and there's no firmware update that fixes this problem)... Yet another issue on a new system... If you search YouTube, you can find video examples of the screen flickering...
It is, of course, not true that macs don't crash. They do. PCs I believe crash more in general, but if you're taking care of your computer by running something like Diskwarrior regularly, system crashes are very rare. I can't remember the last time my Mac crashed, because I take care of it.
Lame. This is a specific issue related to only that MacBook model. It has been identified and resolved by a firmware update and hardware repair (under warranty) if necessary.
That's not a software issue, it was dodgy heat sinks, they sorted it. I'm still glad I switched. No platform is perfect, but I spend a lot less time fix and more time doing these days. LOL PC users..
