SL is a buisnes, Taking real people and real emotions onto this virtual world where money is key and shopping is addictive for the people who cling onto this virtual world for social reasons from what there real lives lack from, spending up to 6-12 hours a day online and some spending over 100$-400$ a month on virtual goods.. Taking advantage of people making them think that the virtual world is a good educational and social network.but yet they charge you big for the things that you want.

I go out into the community and do the medication for the vulnerable/ill members of my society - I find it relaxing and on most occasions rewarding and sociable. I do not have time to create a false 'perfect world' I try to make the real one better.

I too, assist housebound people with Aspergers, Austism and Agoraphobia, in a support group meeting on Second Life. These people cannot leave their homes or socially interact normally, and require special assistance and help. Good on you for supporting the community. Many of these people cannot leave their homes, and being in other countries, may not receive care. I also, live in the real world, as I am a teacher and educator. MOST people try to be something 'sexy'... the thing is, people's concept of sex is usually 'slutty', 'nasty' and 'cheap'. Porn is the big money maker online, well... in SL, sex products and services are second only to land. I think if it's that Second Life offers people the opportunity to be their true selves, that people are not very significant to begin with.... more or less TV watchers and underachievers. As someone with a Masters in education, SL is a wonderful platform for people to express themselves, hear live music, learn at virtual universities and socialise. SL breaks down the barriers of country borders, and can assist many people, to access a network of friends and support. Virtual worlds are becoming a reality. Like moving to a new city, it takes patience to learn the ropes and establish friends. SL works wonderfully well, despite our love of paying it out for LAG!

Hi Warship, I am not a Computer gal either, but i have learnt basic computer coding in two computer languages, from looking at easy "scripts" used in Second Life. EG: One script might be the coding to make an object change colour. I can build my own "cube", make it change colour, or move, or turn invisible. Now I understand what "computer programmers" talk about!

My POINT is that the overwhelming majority of people that you run across in SL would probably turn out to be someone that you wouldn't like all that much in RL. The platform itself tends to make most people scatterbrained as the attempt to figure out where their clothes are in their inventory.
