I think you can actually control the MS-20 with volt/oct synths by plugging into the VCO input up in the top left :) Takes a bit to get the scaling right...
thanks for this amazing video - this saved me some try and error and manual reading :-) ...especially i like that you explain everything in a very well structurated way and in an optimal logical order!!! GREAT
@lolcat23 I am a much better player than singer, it's true... but I am an infinitely better singer than I appear to be in this video. ha ha ha. There are a number of my videos in which I'm performing live... I'd rather you judged my singing by those! Thanks for watching! : )
hey thanks for all your vids, they've help me a lot to understand that patch panel laberynth.
though i go a question, ii've been triyng to synth a guitar Bassto the external signal proccesor but, i just get distorted bits, no scale or notes, is there a way to do it right? or is my ms wrong?
It takes a lot of fine tuning of the knobs in the ESP to get it to track the pitches in your input source. It's probably not going to track every single note, either... you have to sort of adapt your playing style to the needs of the ESP once you've got it to the point where it recognizes the pitch of the input. If it's distorting, turn down the input level!
hi marc. great videos! i have a question to ask you. how do i filter an audio signal and also have cv from say a moog mp-201? is it as simple as a y cable to feed both in? btw what is that on top of your ms20? thank you
Well, to filter the audio, there is an audio-in jack on the face you plug right into. However, you're going to have trouble using CV from the Moog because Moog output is volt per octave, and the Korg wants Hz per volt. You may need to find a converter! The thing on top is a Rolls passive four channel mixer!
i understand where to plug in audio to filter it what im asking is how to i filter audio and have a cv from another sorce come into the same filter. i know this can be done because if you plug the audio jack half way in you can still utilize the hard wireed envelope and filter from the esp.
Plug the audio into the audio input, and plug the CV control plug into the filter input of your choice. Then the "ext" control knob will control the amount.
I just LOVE the external input controlling feature of this synth! And, as I said sometimes ago, I repeat that your videos are very useful and nice, and you're english is clear! Ottimo lavoro :)
This video is good. I have been fiddling with the software, but I see the hardware synth in my future; maybe run 'em both together for a little vst vs. hardware ms-10 action! Thanks...
Wow that was great, but i think mine doesn't work fine, because the oscillator 1 sounds like a bot always, it doesn't have pitch. Do you know where can i get it fix? maybe i can, im studing electronic, but what if i failed O.o
Tell you what would be cool.. an album of you crooning some of the greats just like you're singing in to that mic... "laaaaaaauh laaa laaa baa baa daaaaauhhh"
thanks a lot, really good demostration!

Have you every tried making a vocoder effect with the ext ins?
dcisthebruce 1 year ago
@dcisthebruce Of the myriad cool things you can do with the ext input, vocoding is unfortunately not really one of them!
