  • thanks a lot, really good demostration!

  • @riccardelli Thank you, and thanks for watching!

  • I think you can actually control the MS-20 with volt/oct synths by plugging into the VCO input up in the top left :) Takes a bit to get the scaling right...

  • Thank you so much for these MS20 vids - your work has paved an express route to many a creative roll....I'm so glad I stopped by :)

    - Peace.

  • thanks for this amazing video - this saved me some try and error and manual reading :-) ...especially i like that you explain everything in a very well structurated way and in an optimal logical order!!! GREAT

  • @lukesfx Thank you very much! I'm glad I could help!

  • Have you every tried making a vocoder effect with the ext ins?

  • @dcisthebruce Of the myriad cool things you can do with the ext input, vocoding is unfortunately not really one of them!

  • This thing is badass as hell. I want one....

  • lol, you are a MUUUCH better keyboard player then singer, if i should judge by the singing in this video :P

love your videos, also the oh, and also ones <3

  • @lolcat23 I am a much better player than singer, it's true... but I am an infinitely better singer than I appear to be in this video. ha ha ha. There are a number of my videos in which I'm performing live... I'd rather you judged my singing by those! Thanks for watching! : )

  • @AutomaticGainsay in fact, i just watched one of those live performances, and yes, it does appear you can sing! *gasp"!!

  • @lolcat23 Ha ha, thank you!

  • hey thanks for all your vids, they've help me a lot to understand that patch panel laberynth.

though i go a question, ii've been triyng to synth a guitar Bassto the external signal proccesor but, i just get distorted bits, no scale or notes, is there a way to do it right? or is my ms wrong?

  • It takes a lot of fine tuning of the knobs in the ESP to get it to track the pitches in your input source. It's probably not going to track every single note, either... you have to sort of adapt your playing style to the needs of the ESP once you've got it to the point where it recognizes the pitch of the input. If it's distorting, turn down the input level!

  • hi marc. great videos! i have a question to ask you. how do i filter an audio signal and also have cv from say a moog mp-201? is it as simple as a y cable to feed both in? btw what is that on top of your ms20? thank you

  • Well, to filter the audio, there is an audio-in jack on the face you plug right into. However, you're going to have trouble using CV from the Moog because Moog output is volt per octave, and the Korg wants Hz per volt. You may need to find a converter! The thing on top is a Rolls passive four channel mixer!

  • i understand where to plug in audio to filter it what im asking is how to i filter audio and have a cv from another sorce come into the same filter. i know this can be done because if you plug the audio jack half way in you can still utilize the hard wireed envelope and filter from the esp.

  • Plug the audio into the audio input, and plug the CV control plug into the filter input of your choice. Then the "ext" control knob will control the amount.

  • I just LOVE the external input controlling feature of this synth! And, as I said sometimes ago, I repeat that your videos are very useful and nice, and you're english is clear! Ottimo lavoro :)

  • Thank you!

  • This video is good. I have been fiddling with the software, but I see the hardware synth in my future; maybe run 'em both together for a little vst vs. hardware ms-10 action! Thanks...

  • Wow that was great, but i think mine doesn't work fine, because the oscillator 1 sounds like a bot always, it doesn't have pitch. Do you know where can i get it fix? maybe i can, im studing electronic, but what if i failed O.o

  • I had no idea the MS could do this with external signals. I'm starting to actually like the thing now.

  • cool!!!

  • there are moments i JUST DON FUCKING GET ANYTHING you tell there :D

  • Tell you what would be cool.. an album of you crooning some of the greats just like you're singing in to that mic... "laaaaaaauh laaa laaa baa baa daaaaauhhh"

  • Awesome

  • Hella cool song and effects

  • you and your smarts

  • did you make the song yourself that you had playing in the beginning?

  • ur one of my fav youtubers cuz you explain synthesis really well! wish i had an analog synth..

  • thanks for the patch panel tutorial vids. you really helped me to understand how to use my ms20. keep going.

  • another geat video :) I love the song at the begining and end! Whats it called? :)

  • I'm interested to know if you ever heard of the Korg MS-10 emulator they made for the Nintendo DS, and if so, what you think of it.

  • my friend has that game, its so fun

  • love this! best synth videos on the tube.

i'm waiting for the midi-fied rerelease of this

  • Thank you!

  • midi-fied rerelease what the hell are you talking about?

this is going to be re released? please let me know if that is true.

AG you still have this ugly beast?

  • dude you are the most awesome synth reviewer ever. Love your 'comical' approach (or maybe its just you), yet staying serious. Nice!

  • Thank you!

  • The frequency tracking is a neat feature, but a bit unstable :)

  • It is a bit unstable, but instability leads to happy accidents!

  • Man I love this channel so much.
