  • I love the snot snorter in the audience.

  • OOPS! ... 5 more Mormons almost heard the truth.

  • @hammerogod

    LOL !

  • There is nothing wrong with textual criticism of any book including the Bible. Much of “criticism” on the Bible was originally done by pre-archeological German Rationalists who came up with their theory before they bothered to put spade in the dirt. Most of the people who involve their-selves in the type of “criticisms” of the Bible found on this video use old sources. Read a book!

  • @nextluther12

Sorry for my delayed reply, but I was out reading some excellent titles like, ‘The Bible Unearthed’ by Silberman & Finkelstein & the wonderful tome, ‘A History of God’ by Karen Armstrong, both ripping good reads! Now are we discussing the book which condones slavery, murder, rape, warfare, child sacrifice, cannibalism, death to unbelievers, as well as segments on a specific deity’s concerns about real estate holdings, unicorns, giants, global floods, talking snakes...

  • ...magical gardens and language changing towers? I’m sorry but as an ex-Mormon and ex-Christian I’ve had my fill of mythology and scriptural absurdities. When we mere humans can be more moral than our gods, it's time to give up the gods. I too would like to invite you to read a book, perhaps starting with the titles listed above? All the best in your studies!

  • I do not know where to begin with the sea of ignorance that is your mind. Apparently being an atheist makes you a horrible exegete. But you do what every unbeliever I talk to does and that is through a myriad of issues up like if I cannot answer them all in the amount I have you’ve proved your point. The only thing that you prove is you cannot handle an honest intellectual exchange.

  • @nextluther12

I'm so sorry for disturbing your great mind. It must be difficult dealing with members of the ignorant, unwashed masses such as I. I trust you'll have patience as you teach me the ways of truth and Christian reality. As I say to the Mormons who frequent these pages, where is the evidence to support your claims? If Christianity is what it claims to be please provide the evidence, not apologetics, but actual, verifiable evidence. Thanks again for you help in this matter.

  • @ExmormonFoundation I'm glad you are seeing things my way. However, to answer your question we would first have to know what do you consider to be evidence?

  • @nextluther12

Well I would say evidence which counters what we know about reality, history, science, biology, archeology, geology anthropology, physics, etc. For example, in Matthew 27 we find an account of an actual Zombie Apocalypse taking place, yet no other records save for Matthew provide evidence that such an event ever took place. It would seem to me that if the dead did indeed rise and wander around that it would be rather significant and widely recorded in the historical record.

  • @ExmormonFoundation Hey, great question. First not all evidence is evaluated in the same way. This is called “The Crackers in the Pantry Fallacy.” It was coined by Greg Bahnsen. Have you heard the debate between Bahnsen and Stine? The way you test quasars and the way you test philosophical presuppositions are not going to be the same. Also, just because one person records it does not make it unverified. Did you know that many of the wars of Cesar were only recorded by him. Running out of room!!!

  • @nextluther12

Caesar was not recording the supposed "greatest story ever told." It's very simple, if the dead suddenly started walking around Jerusalem or anywhere else, it would be recorded by many, many people, including non-interested, non-biased third parties. Just think of such an event taking place today. Are you honestly suggesting that no one else would record such a fantastic event? It's like I tell the Mormons, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. It's that simple.

  • @ExmormonFoundation How do I begin to untangle this? First the comparison between something like that happing to day and it happening back then is shaky at best. Next, your charter of zombies is ironies. These people were not walking around trying to eat brains. But again, clean intellectual tools (like accurately representing your opponent) are not the trademark of the atheist. The real problem is Atheism vs. Theism. Running out of room again. I have much more to say.

  • @nextluther12

It's very simple. If the dead came alive, walked around and had tea with their loved ones, people are going to notice. If it happened then, then why not today? Was it more magical then? Did the sun set in a different way in days of yore? Your Bible in the account of Matthew states quite clearly that the DEAD WALKED AGAIN! There's nothing to untangle. It's utter nonsense.

  • @ExmormonFoundation This is very true. I don't know about the tea part. However, this is a problem for the Atheist not the Christian. Right. The real problem is does God exist. If He does then resurections are not a problem--in principle.

  • @nextluther12

No, this an issue of evidence for even you as a believer do not "know" that a god exists, you only believe such to be the case, that's why you exercise what you call faith. If the dead did indeed walk as the account of Matthew so clearly shows then there would simply be many, many extra records of such an event taking place. Again, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

  • I origianly gave this a thumbs up based on the fact that it was good reseach on mormonism. However, when he started to dis. on the Bible I changed my mind. Sory if my thubs up confused anyone! Still good info on mormonism through.

  • @nextluther12

So higher textual criticism only applies to the Book of Mormon and not the Bible? Now I understand why Christians label the Bible as infallible as it is apparent in your reply that Christians have no interest in actually verifying that the book they so ardently and dare I say blindly defend is actually worthy of such a title. Your position of perceived doctrinal or scriptural prominence is no more sound than that of the Mormons.

  • You can believe in the book of mormon, if you want to. You can also believe in beheaded saints that walk with head in hand to a certain site to make it a place of pilgrimage. Or you can believe that Nahuatl is derived from Hebrew, if you faith is stong enough. Or you can believe that Santiago is the Matamoros charging a stead again the Sarracen infidel. In the very first chapter of Mormon (Nephi) an angel appears telling a character to kill a guy with his own sword...

  • What more can i say after 45 minutes of proving the Bible is sufficient, and completely destroying Smith's entire demon inspired cult?

All they say is that they prayed (to Jesus) about "all the questions they had", and now they have perfect "peace and love about all the teachings of the one true church."

How does a Christian combat THAT?

    Have a pray-off?

  • You can't combat that. Combating one's belief with another never wins, it's much like putting lipstick on a pig. It's very hard to do and it annoys the pig.

Stick with a factual approach and build from there. I suggest some great starters: The Global Flood, Tower of Babel, Kolob as the source of light for the Sun, The City of Enoch floating off in space etc.

Once you help the Mormon see the folly of their magical beliefs, then you can work together on your own.

    All the best. -EMF

  • lies. he is likely a homosexual activist. do not trust him. don't even listen to him. Satan's quicksand

  • Alright genius, what are the lies? It's easy to say something is lie, it's another to show a clear and honest refutation. Perhaps you better do a little more research instead of relying on your "faith" (see ignorance.)

For the sake of your own mind and the betterment of our species, back up your claims! Do some research!

  • Faith = ignorance? Have you told that to Jesus or have you turned against him too. Sounds like you're an extremist. I bet you were a hardcore mormon now you're a hardcore god hater. pitiful. Repent.

  • What a jokster you ar GM! homosexual activist! Oohh, how scary! You are a pathetic excuse for a Christian little boy/man, let alone a mormon. What does it matter if he supports the rights of homosexuals? It has nothing to do with this talk, of course, it's just how you sad excuses for human beings hide your hate by calling names. Don't mind the facts, man, just call name!!

  • No, I have not told that to Jesus silly. He's too busy with the poor, the homosexuals, the neglected & down trodden to worry about my calling your ignorance which you cloak in faith as absurd. I think he already knows that, that is if he were real.

Signing off now... I've got some more deity hating to do. Damn you Zeus! Screw you Poseidon! To hell with you Allah and your flying horse too! I don't hate Odin, but Thor is a right bastard. Who does he think he is throwing his hammer like that?

  • @GohModley:

Yes, faith is indeed inherently ignorant. An atheist is not an extremist, he's just more consistent in applying logic. Consistency is not extremism. Once you apply the criticism you have of other religions to your own, everything will fall into place. All religious claims about the gods and the supernatural are bullshit, and the sooner we all realize it, the better.
