Interview of Todd McFarlane

Todd spends a lot of time paying lip service to overseas animation, specifically Japanese animation. I have to admit I'm a bit surprised that this animation wasn't done more in house. After all Image is a group of artists who broke away from the two big comic retailers to do their own thing.

@vincentx915 there's a lot of animation not geared for PG-13, but not in in the US or Europe. Asia is brimming with it. As he said, it's weird that there is such a huge gap and nothing to fill it. It's also kind of sad, cause there are tons of cool comicbooks in the US which could easily have been adapted for animation.

i really like the animation style of the series, drawn it that very detailed and yet stark japanese style such as in akira. I always thought that japanese animations looked very dark and creepy as a child, and was so please when i first watched the series. i didn't realise they'd used japanese artists but that was a great decision.

Todd was an illustrator for Marvel comics, famous for his work on Spider Man.

Spawn has always been and is still apart of Image comics.

Man, it's a shame that todd had to sell his company several years ago. So when he said 'the future of spawn depends on how well it does', i thought well i guess it didnt do to well considering it didnt live after the 3rd season. :( Sucks big time, and it left the story wide open on the final episode. Still, mcfarlane is the man, and will go down in history as one of the most successful comic creators that started independantly from all the other major comic corporations.

I would not say Ghost Rider is Childs Stuff. I mean would you really want ur kid watch a hero that is not afraid to kill. Batman has been at different levels. Like Frank Millers Batman would not be a good idea for a saturday cartoon. Ghost Rider is at a hardcore level . Maybe not Spawn level but still not childish!

totally agree..thought they changed the Spawn cartoon to much from the book,same with the movie that was a flop(hated th movie) but they did stay true to what Spawn was about,. and they did the same with ghost rider that they did with spawn tried to make it for all audiences and they both sucked that way....but oh well looking towards the new series :D
