  • Αφιερωμένο σε σένα,Gloria!

  • i get a sense that this is a rock n roll spiritual... it's not about a girl Gloria...it's take me 30+ years to realize that

  • u2 sucks cock!!!!!

  • @mrsaints73 STFU

  • Why the fuck is October so underrated? The mind boggles!

  • Simple minds r the best group, lets get that right.u2 come second.

  • I love Bono.

  • @sudokuwkroku Ur an azz

  • how is this related to jesus

  • Haha, back when U2 was just another new wave band and The Edge still had hair. Yep, I loved em then too.

  • I'm 12 years old and don't listen to any of today's crap music e.g. Justin Bieber. U2 rocks and has always played an important part in my life. Big fan and always will be, can't believe how young they look.

  • AMO

  • The first time when I lisened that song i was 10 now I have 22 and I only can say Im a fan of U2 and WE WAIT YOU GUYS FOR 2012 AGAIN IN ARGENTINA

  • if i have a kid, i'm totally naming her Gloria :)

  • @luvnpeace12312 don't make that mistake :)

  • Bono = one of the most brilliant voices of ever and The Edge, the devil-man guitar. AWESOME !!!!!!!!

  • @fpa1996 U2 = The Greatest Band in the World

  • Bono is the King :)

  • brilliant !

  • definitely my favorite U2 song. when i first heard this song, especially the end, gave me chills

  • "Hey this is red rocks..Adam clayton.."

  • shit house

  • The definitely the best song of U2!

  • By far, my favourite U2 song.

  • Nooooooo !!!!!!

    So wonderful!!!!!!!

  • ......and then they became too commercial and sold out....

  • @Kelleyann2 I think they had just grown up. And that's a good thing, I guess.

  • Bono on a barge...What more do ya want? Gloria = Glorious.

  • goosebumps the first few seconds then rock out ahhhh

  • que dieu vous protège

  • SouthJerseyGuy .-- O M G !! I'm the girl you were talking to in the Bijou that night. I've been waiting thirty years, call me

  • @northfourty : )

  • i am now 30 years old and i saw them perform in 1979 this song in belfast ohh man. god it was so cool bonos moves were so and are so cool

  • @omersexy : you're now 30 yrs old ? so born in 1981, right ? and you saw them perform in 1979 ? what are you on ??? lol

  • @vtfilip ohhh man i dont remember posting that comment..yea I think i was on shrooms definitely on shrooms..

  • @omersexy you saw them 2 years before you were born? Are you Dr. Who?

  • Brilliant !

  • hendrix's was better

  • Eaily one of the greatest songs of the 80's. I still get goose bumps every single time I hear this track. Long live the 80's in our hearts and memories, what a great time to be growing up.

  • @taipan185 What are you talking about? It was a terrible time to grow up. The world was ruled by creepy old men and everyone was afraid of nuclear death.

The one thing we had was great rock n' roll, to get us through.

Kids these days, all they have is whiny bullshit. I don't know how they're going to make it.

  • @screwyou I had an awesome time growing up in the 80's and I would gladly trade everything we have today to go back. If you were afraid for neclear war you were real bright since it had been obvious for a good two decades that neither the USSR or the USA was stupid enough to push the button since it garenteed their own death. Hell even kids could get their heads around that simple concept. Mutually assured destruction ever heard of it? It's a great thing to keep pinheaded world leaders inline.

  • I #($)%(%)% LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!! especially the end when they all sing GLORIA!

  • LOL 80'S VIDEO EDITING

  • 2...3....4...

  • GORGEOUS!

  • Dec 9th, 1981...this song opened their Gig at Uncle Sam's, Buffalo NY. Next to Killing Joke, this is the greatest 'Bar Gig' I have ever enjoyed. had to be there ....

  • Why can't everyone these days like this type of music, IT IS AWESOME

  • What an incredible track. I wish I could have seen U2 back in those days. I don't rate them much now, but back then, before they became propelled by their own self importance, they had a raw magnetic youthful energy. Brilliant!

  • Oh shucks!! U2 is coming to kick my ass at 2:53

  • sborro sui muri

  • AMAZING

  • I love how they give the Gloria back to Jesus!

  • van and I needed a good laugh, they stink

  • in 1980 in a small pub in dublin where my dad was working at my dad sat down with U2 and had drinks with them before they were famous and said no body relly tried to talk to them and i felt that i just wanted to share this cool story with you guys!

  • I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song!!!!!!!! It's my favorite song by them and I have this video on VHS from MTV when they played videos!!!!!!!!!!

  • I still get goosebumps to this day, even at 40 years old. I lived my early years around the first U2 albums, the best of times.

  • @coolerguy369 I'm 40 too and still excited with their music. The "Boy" album got me going at an early age and they continued to do an amazing job to this day! U2 thee greatest band in the world! Peace, Love & Aloha!

  • U2 The best Band Forever..¡¡

  • ave maria

  • I try to sing this song......

  • Wish I could go back in time... winter 1980, found myself in this little club in Philly,The Bijou Cafe. Not getting anywhere with this cute girl I was talking with,I decided to listen to the band that was playing instead. After about 3 songs, it was apparent that these guys were DAM GOOD.Little did I know that the band playing on stage that night, in front of about 100 people, would turn out to be 1 of the world's greatest rock and roll bands... U2

  • @SouthJerseyGuy1 cool story bro!

  • @SouthJerseyGuy1

I was at home in Beantown and a dj on the radio had just got a cut of the single. It was in the early evening.

He put on Gloria, came on after it was over and said: "oh my God, I'm playing that again right now".

He played it for 1/2 an hour straight. I remember that 1/2 hour like it was yesterday.

    U2forlife

  • This was the 80's kids.

Sorry, you missed it by about twenty years.

  • @endgammer Dammit!

  • @endgammer 30 years.........!

  • @SouthJerseyGuy1 what do you mean "one of the greatest", lol... (bono on larry king)

  • @SouthJerseyGuy1 and just to think how that great little band could turn into one of the most bloated overrated combos in the history of rock n roll, churning out MOR crap like Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own

  • How I loved them in the early 80's! Gloria! In te domine!

  • I think U2 found what they were looking for in their first 4 albums......

  • @lennomenno Dont forget about The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby!

  • @viperdude281 I dont deny they can still put out some good tunes..But for me there was something very exciting and magical about U2 in their early days....and that all seemed to fade once they hit the "big time"... if you want to call it that....which seems to have started around the Joshua Tree.

  • @lennomenno I dont know I think their whole legacy revolves around being successful in multiple genres of music, but yeah I completely agree that their music making was much more pure (hard to find the right word to use there) in their earlier days.

  • what ever happened to U2 between then and now ??

They've been kidnapped by aliens and replaced by fakes, it's the most probable theory

  • Gloria...in te domine

    Gloria...exultate

    Gloria...Gloria

    Oh Lord, loosen my lips

  • the 90's were the best. Old U2 is a lot better than this new marketing U2

  • 50 persons that prefer Justin Bieber

  • OMFG This is not even compared with Gloria of The Doors or Gloria of Jimmi Hendrix

  • @LeventNimet I wish I grew up in the 80s, Being in Middle School now sucks, everyone has terrible music that comes out these days! Never forget how lucky you are!

  • Three good LPs then....

  • Now this was U2 when it was great and NOT the top 40 pop shit they pump out now!

  • So glad i was a teenager in the 80's growing up in Dublin. I felt an energy and an edginess to the music of the time which sadly people don't see now.

  • My favorite U2 song STILL, after all of this time.

  • Still does it for me!

  • Amazing song, those were the days when passion led peoples hearts....

Fuck the music of today, no soul, all about the money and thats it... Tits and ass x 100.

  • I only like U2 from the early years like War, Boy, and October. But I see what DCO36 is talking about.

  • @COYI1895

Well that will happen with any artist. Some people hated Dylan after he plugged into an amp.

  • @mattressjedi I agree with you. Mind you, I was never into Bob Dylan's music though. I think the early stuff of U2 is great stuff and then Bono and U2 ruined it all by believing in their own hubris and let their egos mucking it up a bit.

  • todo un clasico

  • pra mim o disco mais embematico do u2 sou fã destes caras irlandeses

  • Μου αρέσουν οι u2, αλλά αυτό πάντα το αγαπούσα!Gloria...

  • I wish I was born in 65 to be able to appreciate U2 in the 80s

Cuz I was born later andd I missed U2 debut !

I want them not to grow !!

I fell in love with the best band ever <3

  • U2 is long gone...80s will live on...

  • @EdRoy01 comon now i respect your opinion but i personally love the way U2 has evolved as a band....i mean yes i feel the 80s were their best work and i loved achtung baby and zooropa wasnt bad... the late 90s dance craze sucked but it was an evolution phase for them....then in 2000 they came back with a sick album in all the things you cant leave behind, going back to their lyrically inspiring roots, yet with an updated sound....not a huge fan of the latest album but every cd is different

  • U2 are not the band that they once were. They have lost the special raw, spiritual energy they once gave their audience. Bono and the gang have become drunk on celebrity and now sing on trivial matters that the man or woman on the street can relate to. Still a good ban but way as well call themselves Take That.

  • Yup..I was a junior. Great times!

  • OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @LeventNimet Here, here! Nowadays, nearly all music acts reek of being engineered and molded for public consumption. It's like money is the goal, whereas it used to be the bonus for creating art and being wild or thoughtful about the human condition. Look at Bono here, just 21 years old and already he has a confident, independent way about him. A leader. He's not doing it because some corporation told him to.

  • @hawaiidispenser Now, his corporation is telling him to do it. Haha

  • @LeventNimet yep so it is, totally all fed up, situation fed up, life fed up, ppl fed up, women fed up yeah i can go on, ohh yeah all suckers living in a virtual world, money money money again situation fed up, i also miss those days.

  • @LeventNimet you forgot about Adele and Foo Fighters!

  • @LeventNimet The world is soulless, and ever was, the big difference between than and now, is that, it had much more exceptions, people who had the interest in making real songs, instead of comercial shit, people like these nowadays, do'nt play on the radio, or tv.

  • @LeventNimet anyone tell you how ironic that statement is yet

  • @sharqi666 anyone tell you how ironic your name is yet?

  • So many memories from this time. I wish the world felt new and exciting. Something about the 80's made you feel care free.

  • @anarchyolson Yeah...it's called being 16 years old.

  • @anarchyolson Umm..yeah..it's called being a teenager.

  • @anarchyolson Drugs? :P

  • dull

  • OMG I can't believe I found this thanks for putting this awesome song on here <3

  • First heard this on wkdu Philadelphia while looking out of my bedroom watching Hurricane Gloria roll through. October 1985.

  • @endgammer That was a time I'll never forget. I was a Senior in high school in Guilford CT. The storm made most of the trees in the Green look like pick up sticks. But on a lighter note there sure was a lot of great muisic. I had a chance to see U2 live at Red Rocks it was great!

  • this song kicks ass!

  • back when Adam Clayton actually PLAYED bass

  • bono, bro, u got a hell of a flow going on there

  • 47 Justin Bieber fans.....

  • They made Latin cool!!

  • GLORIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......GLORIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...........

  • I first heard this played by Steve Wright when he was on radio 1.. had to order it from Ireland.. not a massive fan now but the first 3 Albums are genius!

  • a perfect song

  • The barge is the key.

    THE

    BARGE

    people

  • gay...

  • @uzickimajmunac the way they act in the video may seem dumb now, but remember, this was 1983

  • @TMLorfing just kidding. Video is nice.

  • @TMLorfing 1981 actually. They had a little more poise and money for their videos in 1983. Longtime U2 fan

  • @uzickimajmunac go fuck your mother asshole

  • @dropkickspanky777 gay means happy, man.

  • the buildings in the background at 3:10 to 3:20 do they still exist in dublin?

  • @xtractor8 they do still exist. we were there 2 yrs ago across the river from where the video was filmed. hasn't changed very much.

  • ANother fucking generic comment as number 1 again. WE GET IT!!!!. at least say something more meaningfull about early U2 than this is music.

  • what's old is new again, esp. since Ireland's economy nowadays is as shitty as it was when this video was shot ;_;

  • 46 people are jealous of bono's hair

  • 46 people hate the name Gloria.

  • bono is a fag the guitarist is awesome.. but bono geez louise what a fag

  • Comment removed

  • @MegaBassPlayer97Gr well maybe i shouldnt say fag cuz thats could offend gay people.

im say bono is a weirdo

you listen to the doors version of this song youll seeewhat i mean dude

  • bono massive hair

  • wonderful energy like all great bands, better then, but thats not to put them down, a great band

  • I saw them around this time supporting The Police at Gateshead. They completely blew Sting and the boys off stage. Great times!

  • 45 people searched glorial

  • i know im gonna sound old and dumb for this...but for whatever reason, that riff reminds me of old nes megaman music...

  • u2u2u2u2 we love you for ever...love from portugal....the best band 4 ever...u2 portugal

  • "kp365: This is music: Just go out on a barge, set up your amp and fuckin play! Not the crap on the radio now. "-lol! ..so true. For me they were unique & the best band from boy to the unforgettable tour and the late shows of that period. Just to speak of thgs found on utube, u cant compare mindblowing shows like dortmund 1984, live aid & few others until 1986, with anythg that came after. that was rock. Since 87 they became a strange concept between politics and mass entertainment. A u2 fan.

  • Classic...Classic U2 was the best of their time for rock. How could 44 ppl dislike any old U2??!!

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE this song!! And Bono's hair! And Edge's pants!

  • I remember a rock critic friend of mine gave me an article from a Christian Music magazine in which they reviewed October. They were extremely close to breaking up over the issue of religion. Thankfully, they stayed together. That being said, the first 3 U2 albums and all the rarities and B-sides from that era are my favorite period of U2. All in all, I think October might be overlooked when people talk about great albums.

I saw them on tour supporting J Geils Band in 1982, they were amazing.

  • @ecosmart123 , I also saw them open for J Geils in Los Angeles - it was an odd booking (J Geils is R&B based), but you could tell, they were pretty intense live, and a sign of things to come. Then I saw them in L.A. for the "War" tour, with "The Alarm", and that was the show that was nearly "out of control", it was like Bono and the band nearly pushed themselves over the edge - absolutely intense.

The hidden jewel on "October" is "Tomorrow".

  • @ecosmart123 You should see them now! They are still the greatest band and their spirit hasn't changed.

  • chaep music

  • My FAVORITE U2 sonnnnggg!!! :) :)

  • Amazing clip ! wow !

  • Gloria Jesus♥♥♥

  • This was their first official music video and one of the first videos to be shown on an early version of MTV that was being tested out in a few US markets in 1982. This according to "U2byU2" Love this song, especially the live Red Rocks version.

  • OMFG WHATS THAT THING ON BONOS HEAD?!?

  • @PizzaPusher2 a great big cock

  • @TheBrowndawg you love those don't ya

  • @MrPatrickhawes haha left myself open there huh.

  • @PizzaPusher2

He admitted that he looked horrible at that time. he said: "Some people still hate us because of that haircut."

  • @Gilnar13 He still has fucked up hair xD
