4 cylinder engines are made a lot stronger these days. I have a k&n intake on mine. Big difference. That's the only thing you need to add on this car. Runs nice. Don't under estimate it. I've beaten many cars in it, not great big muscle cars of course but many others. Its strong for a 2.5 and VERY light. So its like it really has 200 HP. Great handling as well.
The CVT w/ manual ratio shifter is the ONLY way to go on this car. It has all the advantages of a 6-speed with NONE of the drawbacks. And the 4-cyl is very torquy throughout the entire rev-band. The new Altima is amazing.

If you have driven one you would never have said that. It doesn't look like it but when I drove mine it pushes you into the seat and nissan engine seems to have more torque than it has power on some applications. So the torque is felt throughout the who powerband and not just the acceleration.

I test Drove the 2.5 the other day. Right now I drive a 2000 F150 and going to from the 8 to the 4 is a big diff. but the car proved to have nice pickup for a 4, def nowhere near the G35 or 350Z im getting the 2.5 because i cant afford the 3.5 and i just really like this car!

i just got the 3.5SE and it's really nothing like the 4 cyl. 100 more hp with a six speed manual. the cvt is okay, but really nothing like a manual when you're trying to jump off the line or jump outta corners. i got in mine for $29k and am happy with my purchase. with a few cheaps mods and tuning i should be around 325hp which will roast g35's, 350Z's, and don't forget "now that's power" 2.5s altimas.

yeah the cvt is def a bit sluggish from a digg....but thats why im beating it a little after about 500 miles....the 05 altima i had became a beast after a while for a 4cylinder it was very impressive
I own the six, its amazing. off the line its sluggish with the CVT, but after the 40-45mph mark it hauls ass. it takes only seconds to go from 60-80 or 60-100
