This was the 1st vid I saw on the 1st BD tape I ever got - back in 1990. I was definitely blwon away - it was years before I learned her name. The problem with the tape isn;t the horrible VHS quality (which is pretty bad) but the camera work. It's either too far away or concentrated on her face or arms when it should be...elsewhere.
Beautiful! She's so graceful and has so much control! In my limited experience, it's much harder to dance slowly (like she does) than fast; you can't hide your mistakes by jiggling!
Aah! The best of old school belly dancing! One of my favourite oldies! Life was so much simpler then...everything is so technical now! So easy to watch!
OK, seems I judged her too soon, WOW! She really let loose toward the end. Just what I like to see. I loved the floor work and hair tossing bit. Fantastic
I think she dances and smiles like she's scared to death her wig's gonna fall off. I agree with 1axvn, I like it when dancers dance with more abandon. However, I also see the point that the emphasis is on other places at times and I DO like some of her inventive movements and isolations.
There is something about the way these Egyptian dancers hold themselves, and the insistent rhythm of the music, that is very exciting. Much more so than the pointless prancing of the other dancers - Lebanese, Russian, Brazilian etc..
There are some really amazing dancers that are not Egyptian but practice Egyptian style. Check out videos by Brazilan-LuLu Sabongi and Soria Said and Russian- Katia and Nour. And American Bozenka, although she sometimes does American style too not always Egyptian but she is still really great. I know what you mean but generalization is never good. It just becomes discrimination. Check those dancers out. : )
Now I think I know why wars might be fought over a woman. Such an incredible dancer with lethal beauty and style. Totally unfair to the other women to be so talented and beautiful. Five stars and more if I could.
she is amazing
