Quick reload. He should have mentioned that you must reload before the last round is fired from the chamber. This allows the feed to continue without having to rack the slide. This requires a careful count of the rounds fired. Pretty difficult, and requires an ass load of training to do is a combative situation.
Never can a plastic be durable than steel. The 1911 exist up to this day because of its war track records-that means reliability otherwise they throw it out from service. Try the glock in a war environment to see its durability. Do not let your glocks chewed by a bulldog. I am sure you will buy another.
@diosdadoapias While not as resilient to some forces, polymers are durable enough to withstand what they encounter, while being rust proof and lighter than steel or aluminum. If an operator's weapon is so neglected that a dog not used in any armed force can chew it to bits over the course of several days, he's proven he doesn't need it. I would buy another! Glocks are, along with the 1911, the most popular pistols.
teach how to speed reload using army regulation holster and pouches. Most civilians knows that already because the same like you they are using competition rigs.
the thing with this one thought is when you drop the mag quick for under a second theres allready a ound in thge chamber so all u have to do is slide in the mag and shot real quick you actually not getting a bullet from the new mag
proactive reloading...so a round was already in the chamber. you wouldnt be able to do that with reactive reloading. you got the shot off before you even engaged the mag
I GUESS I'VE BEEN DOING IT WRONG ALL THESE YEARS. I NEVER VISUALLY ACQUIRE THE MAGAZINE WELL, I JUST ALWAYS SEEM TO SLAM THE MAG RIGHT INTO PLACE WITHOUT LOOKING DOWN. I DO GRIP THE MAG LIKE THE INSTRUCTOR SHOWS, & I APPLY PRESSURE TO THE NOSE OF THE FIRST BULLET WITH MY FINGER. BUT I ALWAYS DRAW MY REAR MOST MAG FIRST & WORK MY WAY FORWARD, I NOTICE HE LIKES TO GO FOR HIS FRONT MOST MAG (00:41) EVEN WHEN ITS NOT THERE. I'LL BET HE HAS GREAT SHOT PLACEMENT, & HE IS DAMNED FAST!
This is also the same Army that chose the single shot rifle over the Winchester repeating rifle. The Glock was not chosen by the Army as it was required to be made in the US. Glocks are better than the Army Beretta
@BushidoDevildog Sounds like sour grapes over years of the Marines getting schooled in all the interservice competitions by the US Army. Take your pencil neck ass elsewhere until you can post a video of something approaching shooting skill.
@BushidoDevildog You should have left this, I editted out the fixation with my wt- were you seperated under don't ask, don't tell?? Of note: "...neither of which addresses the issue of this "pro" muzzling the camera (and the presumed crew behind it) with what seems to be a loaded weapon = FAIL." You presume a lot, you presume he's out of shape, muzzles a camera crew, a loaded gun. I presume this Army guy being a better shooter than you just grates on you. Get over it, troll.
@BushidoDevildog I'll take the hug; Marine's need the reassurance. What's telling was your need to make observation on your perception of his weight. He's only one of the top 10 shooters in the world, prolly top 5, but you think he doesn't met Ht/Wt standard and that's all that matters. Take your sad, sorry, insecure ass elsewhere and stop trying to build yourself up by tearing people down. I win at a lot of things over you- most importantly, just being a better person.
@Treblaine For sensible operators trained to be responsible, the glock makes a great weapon. It's cheaper, more durable, and more reliable than the M9 and M11. The Army however treats and trains all its recruits as stupid untrustworthy slaves.
@barccy had to vote this one up i was in ft benning as 11X then 11B and they treat you at first like your suicidal (statistics i guess) then like a drooling special ed kid then finally upon graduation like a toddle who MIGHT get to have a colored marker or crayon if youve been good. Kinda sad but what can ya really do personally I was more afraid of the DI's than any gun
@drbudro you do realize that the camera was probably mounted on a tripod or some kind of mount? i used to shoot speed shooting events we ALWAYS had a fixed or remote adjustable camera if we needed a shot ahead of the shooter. if you seriously think a professional shooter would be stupid enough to actually point a loaded gun at a cameraman, and the cameraman ALLOWED that, well... boy i really hope everyone on that crew got fired.
@TonyRocksGuitarHero In what context? If I had to answer, I would say "changing a mag" is putting a fresh magazine in, while discarding the existing one (like changing oil -- or something). While "switching a mag" may be more like a tactical reload with "retention", meaning you keep a hold of the partially depleted magazine and switch it out for a fresh one.
More than likely though, they actually mean the same thing, which would likely be discarding a magazine.

ummmm he's not empty when he reloads because his slide doesn't lock open. That's kinda cheating if you ask me. YES he is very very fast on reloads but it's not a 'real' reload when you reload and still have a round in the chamber. IMHO Although counting your shots and knowing when you need to reload is great. But in a real shooting, I'm sure I won't be able to count my shots; not with someone shooting BACK at me!
@deepwaters6969 1. Many fighting instructors teach tactical reloading, in which non-empty magazines are switched out with completely full ones during a lull in combat, to ensure the weapon operator has the highest amount of immediately expendable ammunition at all times. Weapons with magazine safeties, such as the HiPower have had them removed for the sake of firing during a change. James Yeager and the Magpul crew have videos dealing with empty chamber pistol reloading though. CONT.
@barccy hey i got a question, how come while reloading a handgun you sometimes cock it and sometimes don't, like they would just click a button on the side of the gun.
@Th3ArrowMan "Cock" only applies to the firing mechanism at the rear of the weapon. Manual cocking before firing in a single action pistol would mean that that pistol was decocked as a safety consideration beforehand, but must be cocked to fire the chambered round. In a double/single, cocking changes the initial double action pull to single. For reloads, with an empty chamber & open slide, depressing the slide release lever on the side can be faster but is less reliable than manually releasing.
@deepwaters6969 2. They recommend racking the slide rather than using the slide stop/release because of a possibility of missing the small lever. Some pistols (like Taurus 92s) will release the slide automatically if you insert the magazine with great force at a 45 degree angle.
@barccy Some top instructors teach to always rack the slide, some dont. Both have their pros and cons. It just comes down to a matter of you having more tools for your tool box and you the shooter picking which one works best for you.
@deepwaters6969 it's a glock either 17 or 19. He has full mags but fires only 6 in each clip. you can see the amount of ammo he has when he shows that the mag is on the "step of the palm"
@deepwaters6969 This is marketed towards competition shooters, if you check the other vids. Those guys count their rounds, map their courses and never reload with an empty weapon.
@deepwaters6969 thats how marksmen are trained though. they do that subconsciously. and if you let it lock. theres a good chance you'll hesitate. and be dead.
@deepwaters6969 i agree, he's fast but with a round in the chamber he's already set to rock and roll when the new mag is seated. don't know why so many negative votes
@SASS50566 I agree. What kind of example does this set for learning. If I was a rangemaster and he did that in a shoot I'd have sent him home. The way the video is spliced together it looks for all the world as if the chamber could still be loaded the first time he did it. He talks about keeping his finger off the trigger - that's great but if you're busy ignoring some basic safety rules, why emphasize others? Keep your muzzle downrange Mr. Even in a video I can feel myself cringe.
@SASS50566 how do you know there was a cameraman present when he was doing that? Especially in the parts where his barrel is aimed directly at the camera? No sane cameraman would be standing right there, he'd be controlling the camera remotely.
This guy is way too good. Am I the only one, though, who sees the irony that he is using a Glock 17, despite the fact that the US Army has the Beretta M9 as the military service weapon?
Yeah, I see what you mean, but, so many US government agencies use the Glock 17 that it's as standard issue as the m9. I guess it's up to personal preference for him, really.
@subaru84 I am quite aware of that. It's just ironic that the M9 is good for the troops, but when given a choice the Army shooter who represents them uses a Glock. While I love the M9 and carry one personally, it's a testament that they don't provide the best equipment.
Why do you only shoot 6 of the 7 rounds at the beginning?
