  • Fantastic! What a magical summer!

  • LOVE THIS! I was 14 in 1984 when they won! I had to come watch this to cheer myself up since our Tigers were just nudged from the series by the Texas Rangers 15-5!! You can do it again next year boys!!! FOREVER A FAN!!! R.I.P Sparky!

  • @CanadiAnnie

yeah, stinks they couldnt make it to the series again this year, but ya know what they say- go get em next year

    :)

  • So glad this video exists! Never take it down!

  • @CADeane

why would I take it down????

  • Herbie!!!!!! @1:04

I remember looking forward to that 5th inning and him coming out to and making that walk. So silly but fun. It really made some of the losses more tolerable.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again and again.

  • '84 was magical! I remember Gibby's Home run against the Goose, Lance's big strong bear hugs on Sparky and the pitchers (He cracked Sparky's rib!)...Alan and Lou, Willie Hernandes plus the incredible Big 3 of Morris, Petry and Wilcox. I remember rushing home from church to watch the last game of the series.... There will never be another team for me like the '84 Tigers.

  • i grew up in pontiac and i remember this like it was yesterday. thanks for making a grown man feel like a boy again. so many good times there at the corner.

  • was there any reason for Boy George's appearance?

  • @Sage80 it was part of the song. Boy George was a Tiger's fan. This was at the height of "Karma Cameleon" (spelling?) The song "Bless You Boys" was a Detroit Tiger fan favorite first originated by a local Detroit News station. It went what we today call "viral"....everybody was singing it and buying the record. There were bumper stickers, posters, and T-shirts with "Bless You Boys" on them. A book was even written on the team called by that name.

  • @Minyaelda are you trying to tell me a cross-dressing singing tranny from England was a Tigers fan?

  • @Sage80

The song was put together by WDIV in Detroit who owned the rights to Tiger broadcasts at the time. They did lots of cross promotional work, and had Boy George in for an interview and got him to say Bless you Boys. It ran a few times before games with out the song. Also Sparky Anderson's first name is George so it works that way also.

  • I'm going to share your video.... let's hope it blows up your view counter... Thanks for sharing.

  • @Skulker16
