  • Tim Thank you so so so much for doing this:)

I had the pleasure to be part of some things with you when I was young. just a teenager, but we all looked up to you. I still thin you are doing awesome stuff

  • I don't dislike the video! I think it's a very well-done video!! I dislike the content... this is inhumane! If we didn't have people like Ian, Day, and Carley fighting to inform the people and protect our rights to freedom of speech, who knows where this country would be!

  • That mexican cop gave me a ticket for drinking in public.

  • yes they use tasers has "pain compliance" its either shock them or beat them. The dude got smart with cops. trust me you'd rather get tasered than beaten

  • I always find it funny that no one ever does anything wrong, it's the police that are doing horrible things. And the beginning of the incident is never shown because somehow the camera guy is the only one that didn't see it till it's over and the guy is on the floor screaming. Look at all the videos out there like this one and you'll see it too.

  • Tasers do not pollute.

I think it was a very apt choice of protest on behalf of the cops showing their support against idiot pollution on the streets.

More of it I say,...... lot's more.

  • I'm surprised you can even spell Facist, and I strongly doubt that you would know a real fascist if he bit you on the @rse.

  • Only once to make my point. Dreamboat.

I don't have to make excuses I and the majority of people voted them into power, to protect society from idiots like you.

  • Well,... in that case perhaps the Nazis weren't so bad after all.

At least their economic plan worked .

  • If You Watch The Whole Video You Will Understand/Say it better?

  • Typical pigs.

  • Tazer the hippies please. Hippies enjoy the excitement created by, the TAZER.

    I HATE Hippies.

  • There's no entrance for good into the system, but a slim chance and a gaping hole for evil.

  • America isn't fighting defensive wars.

Our soldiers cannon places they've never been, people they've never talked to.

They shoot people in their homes who speak a different language.

Filtered through the trials of war.

The ones who work their way through... continue their careers....?

People who follow orders blindly, capable of killing us in our homes?

    *at gun point*

Lie face down, look away! I said look away!

  • The Police lied too much have credibility.

    How do they have any?

The entire process was full of official police crap.

  • The holocost was 50 years ago!

    Wake up!

  • I will say that I appreciate your deescalated conversational tones in your recent posts. I starkly disagree, man cannot function properly without some sort of leadership. Anarchy has never resulted in a functional society. Also, the police stop hundreds of crimes against humanity every day. "To protect and serve," police are servants not oppressors. How many drunk drivers have been taken off the roads and saved lives? How many rapist/murderers are in prison and therefore no longer causing harm?

  • Comment removed

  • Not every crime is prevented, murders still murder and rapists still rape but instead of 100 killed only 10 are because of police intervention. The crimes don't disappear, but the number of incidents are sharply curved. Next time you see an officer wave to him. Most officers are married and are just trying to keep their families safe. That jobs a lot easier when they're met with smiles instead of harsh hatred. You speak of equality but strive for segregation. I love my fellow man and so should u

  • I'm not trying to suggest that police are the pinnacle of human order. Police Officers are still human, and are still just as susceptible to human lusts as any other person. What I'm saying is that 95% of Police Officers are not corrupt. Sometimes they screw up just like the rest of us, but the truth of the matter is we need them. Or else who's going to stop the delinquents busting in car windows, the average citizen?

  • "Indeed, the interests of the oppressors lie in "changing the conciousness of the oppressed, not the situation which oppresses them"; for the more the oppressed can be led to adapt to that situation, the more easily they can be dominated. To achieve this end, the oppressors use the banking concept of education in conjunction with a paternalistic social action apparatus, within which the oppressed receive the euphemistic title of "welfare recipients.. marginals.. the pathology of healthy society"

  • Comment removed

  • Also, police don't stop murderers or rapists from entering any homes. It's hersey, tv-fiction, fantasy.

When have the police stopped anyone from raping or murdering in Eugene?

When in Oregon? Don't serial killers make fun of police for how easy it is? Police are fantasy insurance and guns for bankers.

    Period.

  • We're slaves and I'm tired of it.

  • He continues to say, "One does not liberate people by alienating them. Authentic liberation- the process of humanization- is not another deposit to be made in men. Liberation is a praxis: the action and reflection of men and women upon their world in order to transform it."

What do you have to lose?

  • Comment removed

  • but why would you attack a person credibility?

Mine. Anyones specifically, I assume you run the comments on this forum, officially kicking anyone off who feels to speak their mind?

    Are you a police officer?

You should have asked, are you a drug user.

Paulo Freire, can remind us all that, "Knowledge emerges only through invention and re-invention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry human beings pursue in the world, with the world, and with each other."

  • Waisting our time, marshal law happens and we're all dead.

    Cop snuff squads.

Military trained to shoot us in our homes.

    Nazi's all over again.

It's sick, we could survive very well without outside influence forcing events in our lives - Like work and school which are in opposition to what we need to do be doing.

We need to reform the entire system, give control to students, kids in school, people who aren't corrupted by drugs and power.

  • Your right, surviving without police has worked really well in places like Haiti and pretty much all of Africa. Police are what stop murders and rapists from breaking into your house. Or your Hippie Bus, whichever you value more. Using your own logic, if we gave the power to the "students" who's to say they wouldn't abuse it? Do you even hear what your saying? Its completely absurd. By the sounds of it, your already corrupted by drugs...

  • I'm tired of being scared of my city managers. I'm tired of relentless fear of torture and death at the hands of my communities leads.

  • They subdued him, put him out of sight and tortured him! They're criminals and should be treated as such. EPD is a terror force ensighting fear in the lives of the community. They are unwanted, we don't need them, for all we know, they're running the drugs from mexico.

  • Yes yes, thats exactly what they did... What planet are you from again? Just out of curiosity, do small children scare you as well? Puppies perhaps? Your right, our cops are running around with machetes cutting limbs off the innocent every day for drug money. Your such an insightful person... I would recommend that you lay off the LSD... the booze wouldn't hurt either, you might even see the police less often if you obeyed the law...

  • Comment removed

  • I love peaceful protests and civil disobedience, but this was just stupid. If the goal was media attention, at least they got it for their cause, but spraying people with an unknown substance is just begging for trouble.

  • I agree completely, the EPD does a great job. If I were a cop I'd call for back before I confronted the guy who just told me "do you want poison in your face?" The cop is perfectly in his right to tazer someone who is presenting himself as a threat. I saw the whole incident. You didn't show any of the crap he did before the cops tazered him. You activists give people in Eugene a bad name. I feel bad for our cops, they get paid crap salaries to deal with this shit.

  • authoritarian douchebag

  • Just look at these disgraceful fat cops tucking in their layers of fat because there's a camera around. Fat cops always act tough in numbers and at the other end of a gun or taser. Fucking fascists.

  • What happened just before the police got there? How did it all begin? Apparently some guy did his best to appear to be spraying pesticides in a public area? How stupid can you get -- you can't yell fire in a crowded theater and you can't "pretend" to spray poison in a public area. You took pictures and videos of what happened after the guy was on the ground but completely missed the purported "Rodney King" moments. What sloppy reporting and protesting.

  • bootlicker

  • You're right. I can't believe these "activists" were so completely bamboozled as to believe that it's ok to "pretend" to spray people with poison. Bootlicker activists, trying to live up to their leader's ridiculous plans. They should have stood firm, stood up to it, said that they would protest, but in a smart way that would get the regular people on their side, not antagonize the very normal people that they claim to want to convert.

  • Yet another example of "group think" mentality.

Police dogs are trained to bite fleeing suspects, something that most dogs would not do.

Similarly, it seems the police have subtlety, rationality, and humanity trained out of them. They are given weapons and trained to use them with immediate Pavlovian response, without thought, or later remorse.

Using a taser as a compliance tool against a suspect on the ground is cowardly... no, it is psychotic.

  • Best part Even the little girl in this video, Doesn't want to be apart of this CRAP!!!

She refused to be your Muppet!!!

(9:29 into the video) the very end

as well as through out the whole video ! Even your kid knows your video was SHIT !

  • Funny how she cant look straight at the camera !

I think she is lying !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

besides that fact her story keeps changing!

The she says that this was not a huge radical display (7:20 in the video)

*****Then what where the props for !?!?!?! ****

The big water bottles, the white suites, And Tim Lewis

If you are trying to do and investigative story,

make sure you eye witness is not lying !!

She keeps contradicting herself !!!!!!! Don't quit your day job! IDIOT !

  • bootlicker

  • She asked Ian what he had said to the undercover cops, "you didn't ask them if they wanted to be sprayed with poison did you ??

And Ian said Ya Ya, That he was just playing around.

( 2:34 Into the video) LOOK it up

Then she goes on to say (5:00) "that it sounds pretty threating that a statement was put out", that Ian asked, the under cover cops " if they wanted poison in there face," ( 2:34 Into the video) LOOK it up

  • ZI do!! msg me on M.S.N. nfo in profile.

MSG me on M.S.N. ID is in my profile. is

  • It takes too long to taser this guy. Please edit out the whining and get to the money shot.

  • you, sir, are unamerican. please leave the country. thank you.

  • "I was just doing my thing not bothering anyone and those mean bad ol cops assualted me...for no reason!"..."I will be traumatized for the rest of my wittle life."

Ha ha ha ha! Oragan sucks!

  • "Oragan"? Ha! What a "moran". XD

  • Down With Cops! Down With Corporations! Down With America! We should be able to do anything we want and spray and threaten people with what ever we want! As long as you are a college student you should not have to abide by any law at all!

  • I'm not sure why I care, but why do people make comments about things they are completely uninformed about?

If folks actually took the time to be informed, they'd realize that the police beating had NOTHING to do with the obviously street-theater prop water bottle, as Ian Van Ornum was clubbed, had his head slammed on the pavement and was Tasered twice AFTER the spray bottle was completely out of the picture.

Again: are the people posting friends of cops or just ignoramuses (or both?)

  • Amen, Thom!

  • Thanks for the video, it is way better by making it a movie format. The kid made a mistake by saying it was "poison" but he shouldn't have been assaulted, beaten and arrested for it. People have the right to protest. Whoever made this you should put "Ian Van Ornum" in the title so it is easier to find on YouTube, I just read the article somewhere and wanted to see what happened. So much for the Merry Prankster, I guess when the powers co-opted the 60s movement, it was all over for having fun

  • Post the raw footage, not this edited garbage.

  • It is extremely ironic to see Harcleroad on the 11 o' clock news the other day, stating that Mr. Lewis is not considered Media. YET according to a Feb. 24, 2000, article in The Register-Guard."Mr. Lewis is a reporter, and he was reporting," Harcleroad said at the time.

Ironic it seems that Picture Eugene are the first to break the very story about weather or not Lewis is Press/media and the Subpoena.

  • See, if people took my advice in my last post asking people to "read the papers" once in a while, they'd have learned that Lewis had a copy-protected tape in the camera which he didn't realize until after the tasering had happened.

The first shot you see in this video is the first shot Lewis recorded. The editing was done to make it more watchable and put it in a narrative form to help people understand the events from the points of view of those who were there.

  • Well, thank you for the protester's side of the story. Now, would anyone mind giving us (or just me) a link to a youtube video with the EPD's side? After all, there are at least two sides to every incident. If not, everything we don't see on this video is...how did Carley put it?...Oh yeah: "complete heresay."

  • It's unfortunate that generally the only people who take the time to post comments are those who for whatever reason (rational or irrational) are pissed off by what they see.

Folks who are glad to see the truth come to light don't usually feel moved to post something.

Hence the proportion of negative comments to positive ones. With the negative ones almost always full of inaccuracies. Folks should read the paper once in a while and actually keep up with what's going on.

  • There sure seem to be a lot of folks commenting here who have clear bias and a bone to pick with those advocating for a cause.

I was there and helped organize the rally. No thugs were involved in the demonstration. The thugs showed up later to violently silence those assembled.

A show of hands: how many people making posts critical of the demonstrators have direct ties to police (or a bone to pick against the "counterculture")?

  • I'm sorry, I don't have any sympathy for this kid. Maybe he learned a very valuable lesson. You break the law, you suffer the consequences. Threatening an officer wasn't a very smart move, neither was spraying an unknown substance out of a chemical sprayer!

  • These guys have a really great cause but if they want to be effective they need to learn how to be truly non-violent, that means being respectful and compliant with police. They would have continued to have a good rally if the one kid wasn't so boneheaded. The taser might have gone a little far but come one, dying from a taser is about as common as dying while getting your wisdom teeth removed.

  • fry hippie!

  • It's hard to believe the EPD when they have a history of abuse (pepper spraying tree sitters? C'mon.) Ban2Bahunter, so he doesn't put his hands behind his back - how does that give permission to use tasers? Far too violent. There are better ways to take care of the situation.

  • I have to say this is very edited...why aren't you showing the complete video? Sounds to me that the protesters didn't cooperate with what the police were asking of them. And BTW, I was there at the arrest on 6/8 at the LTD station: the cops did the right thing- the guy was a major drug dealer who tried to pass the drugs off to his girlfriend and they both tried to run! I appreciate the work the police are doing to clean up downtown!

  • hey, there's a trojan in this vid ! ! anybody else get that? my mcafee stopped it before it got in.

  • anyone who's on the same side as the pigs should try getting tased multiple times while being held down without resisting then see how they feel about the cops

  • Yeah, I wish I would have commented sooner, but was unable to sign in to my youtube account. I was there. The police and other law enforcement agencies that operate locally use unjustified force way too often. Also: police incident at bus station downtown Eugene 6-8-08.

  • This video tells a one-sided story. It's useless. In fact it's worse than useless.

  • I move to rename the Ken Kesey "Free Speech" square the "EPD Taser Zone." Let's call a spade a spade.

  • I find it amusing how people who have no idea what even happened have such strong opinions that the "protesters" are guilty.

People like that add nothing to the issue and clearly have an agenda.

  • He's lucky he only got tasered. If the Cascadia eco-terrorists received an envelope with baby powder and were asked "would you like to get anthrax?" they might feel as threatened as the EPD officer facing spray from an unkown bottle. The video is typical Cascadia propaganda, and unfortunately confirms the opinion many have of Eugene - anarchists, riots, and protests. Wish these folks would get out of the 60's, as well as Eugene . . .

  • this shows how police handle protests... kinda like china eh?

  • EPD should have tasered all of you

  • This video was a waste of my time. Doesn't anybody have it on their phone?

Aren't these policeman innocent until proven guilty?

What actually seemes plausible is that he was in the road, and possibly somewhat defiant. How defiant is irregardless if he thought telling ANYONE he was spraying or going to spray poison was funny. I would have tried to take him down too.

  • Editing a video to blatantly show your side is called propaganda. In doing so you have lost the credibility of anyone who is not already a supporter of your cause. If you had video that showed the police crossing the line, you would post it UNEDITED.

Peaceful protests are also law-abiding protests. You are not allowed to threaten a Police Officer. You are not allowed to impede traffic.

  • This video doesn't even show anything...

You fail, stop trying to fight the man, because you'll just get tasered. Nice description of a bunch of hippies complaining about their stupid cause.

"yea man, like they were like, uhhh we're just helping the environment maaaan"

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oregowned!

    dont tase me bro!

    EPD FTW!

  • I was thinking, the protestors should hail this as a victory. Thanks to the tasering, this story has recieved FAR more publicity than it would have had they just been protesting on the street one day.

By sending the signal to EPD and other cops nationwide that when they taser people they turn up the volume on their voices, you will reduce this behavior and flip a strategy that is supposed to terrorize citizens into something that strengthens us.

  • Actually, 12 have filed eye witness reports with the city of eugene police auditor as to what transpired. There were many witnesses, including myself.

Regarding the video tape, have people considered that there just might not be any other footage?

Or perhaps video is being saved for the trial.

  • full video please. I would like to see what happened just before he got tasered. If you don't have that footage, you should explain so.

  • I totally agree. Though I have never had a bad experience with the police, if they do wrong they should be punished, but I also saw a film edited to make themselves look like they did nothing wrong, but she did state that he did say that to the cops and he thought it was funny....

  • at 2:35 she actually states "you didnt ask him if he wanted to be sprayed with poison did you" and he said "yeah yea, I was just playing". But police do not take things like that lightly, and so they probably called it in. Undercover cops are to basically stay annonymous and thats why they didnt do anything at that point, but they probably kept an eye on things, they saw someone who seemed threatening to the public.

  • Tim hates police and he will do anything to prove they are "bad" people. The truth is this guy fought with the police. Thats why Tim hasn't released the video otherwise you would see that he deserved what he got. The police can NOT lose fights or they have no power to do their jobs. This idiot got tasered. I think thats a lot better than the alternatives like geting shot with bean bags, rubber bullets, beaten, etc.

Much of this commentary is outright lies.

  • It is degrading to generalize personal biases onto a large and incredibly variegated population of dissenters. And it is degrading that the side I agree with ideologically can stoop to calling its opponents 'tard' and other names, as if that promotes the peaceful agenda we profess.

The truth is that we are denied full freedom of information, and in response we lash out at each other rather than those withholding said information. Slinging mud at each other is just another repression of dialogue.

  • I guess folks will just have to wait until the September jury trial to find out whether there was more video or if this is all that was recorded.

  • Was I there? No. Do I think the cops used excessive force? Very likely. Do I know something about the demographic about you little stuck up self-righteous sensationalist brats? LIKE THE BACK OF MY HAND! I have to agree with frankhotsauce that footage is being witheld because you know it's too incriminating for your agenda and not the full story. Coward.

  • Long hair on guys use to be just a simple symbolic non-conformist fashion statement. Nowadays white kids with nappy filthy dreadlocks and beards is some kind of obligatory rite of passage among college brats with rich parents. Its almost like your destiny is to say: "Hey look at me! "I'm self-righteous flagrant high-profile self centered idiot kid with rich parents who thinks the sun shines out of my assshole!"

  • Since some asshole wants me to shut up I think that's a clear sign that I'm really the only rational person that can see both sides of the issue here. You costume peasant spoiled hippy brats with rich parents playing self-rigtheous savior of the world doesn't save people from pesticide corporations. Get it? You're not working class people! You are brats with clique of other brats with time on your hands. Have your protest, just don't interfere with traffic! We don't like your elitism!

  • can we see the whole video??? uncut?

  • I was an eye-witness:

It was never about the water-filled spray bottle.

The real story is what happened after the bottle was out of the picture: officers grabbed Ian from the sidewalk, dragged him across the street and Tasered him once to knock him to the ground. Then, with a knee in Ian's back, an officer grabbed Ian's hair to bang his forehead on the pavement, then with Ian still pinned to the ground -- hands behind his back, handcuffed -- the officer Tasered him another two times.

  • Obviously you have the whole arrest on video, based on the still photos of it. Why did you rely on opinions to tell what happened instead of letting the truth be shown? Why don't you show the entire video, instead of just the edited version? If you had video of police assaulting this guy, you'd think you'd be the first to show it. Your omissions speak volumes. Maybe the unedited version doesn't jive with your commentary. Be wary of those with agendas which deviate from the truth.

  • TUjumbo79 is an agent provocateur, look at the date on his account, does anybody find it a little too convenient that the guy just joined to troll this channel and has almost no activity at all on his page.

    Advice to the channel owner:

If you have people pulling this crap and they look this suspicious, block them.

  • By all means 'BLOCK' those that disagree with your views...that's "free speech" for ya.

  • FYI, TUjumbo79,] That 'old bastard' happens to be driven by government and the Weyerhauser corporation that doesn't give a fuck about spraying poison in public schools. Look at the Triangle Lake video on this channel you callous insensitive fuck.

  • If Ian really was pointing waving that applicator at people, especially cops, saying "do you want poison in your face?" He deserves everything he got. It's no differnet than if he was waving a gun around. How are people suppose to know whether it's just water or not?

  • Police State. You're living in it America. Enjoy.

  • Classic abuse of power. "If you don't do what we say, we'll hurt you." Disgusting.

  • nazi.the most unamerican thing i've heard all day. can't believe you said that.

  • abusing freedom? wasting your time? may you suffer a horrible pesticide related terminal illness. the sooner the better. now i know what they mean when they call you a useless eater. you're a fucking idiot.

  • I wish I could say I was supprised by this...

Have you noticed that all the 'critics' are just repeating the police line? I wonder if they even watched the video?

  • Did what they were supposed to do? Cops are not supposed to use tasers for pain compliance to make an arrest.TUjumbo79 is obviously a tard.

  • Gotta be careful with your props. I gotta say the score goes to the police on this one. And I hate cops, I believe in the NWO and want to fight it. But if somebody points what appears to be a deadly weapon at me they better realize they may lose their hand.

  • EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT:

I saw them grab Ian by the shoulders and arms, drag him across the street, throw him against the wall, then another 2 officers arrived and one deployed a taser which knocked Ian to the pavement, the officer then kneed Ian in the back, grabbed his long hair and slammed his head down on the pavement and then tasered him at least another two times with Ian lying on the ground face down with hands already behind his back, writhing in pain and screaming "why, why?"
