Mitch Ryder could sing and rock live when he was on. That Detroit sound. J.Geils band took what they had and made it bigger. Bob Gaudio helped these guys. What a great song still...I saw John Mellencamp and Mitch came out and rocked this song...yeah!!
I seen him in a suburb of Chicago years back, he was so stoned they drove him off stage in a golf cart, lol, he signed my 2 picture sleeves when i caught up to the cart, but never said a word, behind his shades he was like a zombie.
This is the best arrangement of these 2 songs... the bass player was the driving force... we use to enjoy playing these and I can't believe that today's bands covering classic rock don't play them....
Sponsored M.R. & the D.W in Concert at the Rock Island, IL Armory (Fall '66). Deal was done by the Blackhawk College Commerce Club (allegedly). :) Really, it was just 3 of us. I was 19 & Ryder wasn't 21. Stayed in the bathroom & wouldn't come out 'til he got COLD BEER! I lead-footed it to "Audry's" Bar, got the beer & back to the Armory. Had to "shimmy" along the River side-along the rail-to the b.r. window. TOO SMALL for a PBR case! Mitch got his beer-thru the window-ONE CAN AT A TIME!!!
I had heard that Mitch liked his beer. He was supposed to play at the Galion Theatre in 67 buat they couldn't get him out of the bar across the street.
As of 2011, the WMG block has been removed; unless the individual publishing co. maintains copyright protection, the work can most likely can be posted. The other thing is that none of the Mitch Ryder/New Voice Rocords was released through any Warner label; it was distributed by Bell (which is now under the Sony Music umbrella). Try and post the original stuff again, and if it gets blocked remind them who owns the original work -- Sony Music, not Warner.
Some acts of the era, when appearing on TV, brought with them an instrumental track of their record, with no vocal, which was played while they sang live. This is one such example.
The music was recorded, but the vocal is definitely live.
@bayridged The vocals are probably live, otherwise Warner Music (who seems to own the song) wouldn't have let med uploaded it. I tried to upload the song from another show, but failed.
@SixtiesPopGold Bet my house that they aren't live;you can tell by Mitch's lack of effort on such a dynamic piece.I know this studio track backwards since it was one of the first bass lines I learned. The TV studio did have some booms that picked up some of the girl's grunts and the audience cheering at the end
@bayridged How big is your house? No, I'm sure you're right. Sometimes I've tried to upload a playback song from two different shows. One of them was successful but the other one failed, so it's a real jungle out there when it comes to copyright. I tried to upload "Jenny Take a Ride" from "Swingin' Time", but Warner didn't let me, so therefore I thought that this Hullballoo clip at least was somewhat live.
@SixtiesPopGold The reason it won't be taken down is because of the applause and sounds the audience is making. The track itself isn't live, but the audience is. When they scan the clip, it doesn't appear to be direct because of the additional sounds - one of its downfalls, but a benefit to listeners like us!
@bayridged This may or may not be live, they we very experienced pros as live performers. They were NOT a studio band. His delivery is always pretty effortless. That's just his manner. He's confident and cocky enough to not have to grin and mug phoney dramatics like they they demand TV contest singers do now.
It's called presence, attitude. His manner is "here I am. You don't like it? shove it." It was Detroit man. Tough guy ways.
@bayridged you would have had to be there when t.v. was invented. these were live show. impossible to get sound and pic to match. trust me, i grew up with it.
@tlynch1218 theres nothing wrong with the origonal tracking , sometimes if uploaders use the wrong , (codecs ) , the audio syncs may not be in sync with the picture !

@sicilianese69 ... his name is Jimmy McCarty ... he also played in a smokin hot group called The Rockets along with Detroit Wheels drummer Johnny Bee Badjanek and David Gilbert, the singer from the Amboy Dukes ...
WOW! Go-Go Girls! Mitch performed at Selfridge last fall. He still has it. Although he said he's going to collect Social Security this year. (Until it runs out due to bankrupsy) -1 for my spelling...

Don't care if the audio is a paste to the live performance; as long as he is singing it then we're all good.

the lead guitar player in this band-JIMMY M.-was way ahead of his time-
he was better than most American white guitar players of the same time period-
this song and "bring it on home home"--off their 1st album--
demonstrates exactly what i am saying----he was an outstanding rock and roll/blues player---
his solo on bring it on home--is equal to -red house -Hendrix-really-Bloomfield-
any blues number recorded by the kings-Clapton-BECK at that time period-
