@TheThunderstorm2 I have a number of West Virginia videos, most from the eastern part of the state. I don't have any Pa. videos except for one where I briefly cross into Pa. on I-81
Nice video. I've lived in this area my whole life. Always love my drives up 211 until it ends in New Market. Your video shows the beautiful peaks of some of the best hiking trails in our area. And hey, no need to rush through this rural area by raising the speed limit, enjoy your day in the country away from the 70 mph rat race you've left behind.
@lebaron719 Thanks! Yeah I drive VERY close to the speed limit these days when I go on Rt. 211 - I always see cops on this route. I plan on re-doing this video next month, hopefully on a day similar to this one.
Surprised you didn't mention the turn-off to Washington, VA (around 2:43). Also disagree with ScrewdUP regarding camera direction. Doesn't have to be dead-center, but this was too far left...messed up the eyes a bit.
@mudfroggie That's fine but again I was still learning the ropes here, I realise I made a mistake with the camera but after I went through all the trouble to film this I wasn't just going to scrap it entirely. It took some time to get this process down to where I have it today and even still today I make some mistakes. I think it came out fairly decent considering it was my first video.
@mudfroggie -This is a far better "first effort" than most people have done, it's better than my first video. Not to mention it's better than some who've done many of these types of videos on here.
@Freewayjim Jim, I don't disagree that it's a good "first effort". I just discovered this collection and started at the beginning. The to-the-left was a bit hard on the eyes, but if that's since been corrected in the other videos (which I haven't gotten to yet), then no worries.
@mudfroggie -I think VA Freeways has gone from starting out to making quality, watchable and enjoyable videos faster than anyone else has, you'll see that as you go through his work. It takes a few tries to work the kinks out.
@Bryant5493 You're absolutely right. And they enforce that 55mph speed limit too. Virginia has to be the worst state for speed traps. At least in the Eastern US. It's the only state in the US where radar detectors are illegal too. Although, the Governor just signed authorization not too long ago to move most of the rural interstates up to 70mph (some already are).
i think you set the camera just right here .. the freeway is not the main focus here , the terrain is .. very nice .a very well start of your first video's man , keep up this great work .. maybe in the future a banner where ever you choose would look awesome , but one of teh best first video's from a person in this category that ive ever seen .. excellent
@ScrewdUPClickV2 Thanks! Yeah, the camera was tilted a little far too the left. The second and third vids from the same route are the same. But the fourth video I shot in a different location has the camera more centered on the road. But, it actually worked out pretty well.
@VaFreeways na it was perfect .. u dont wanna show off the roadway here , just the scenery .. u did right here .. awesome i look foward to your next projects keep it up
Yes, you have videos, nice job, though I would put the camera facing just a little bit more forward. Thats really nice, Virginia has nice countryside. What type of camera do you use? Good job overall.
@FreewayTitan I use a JVC Everio HD camera. It wasn't the most expensive camera out there but I wanted to at least get something that can shoot in HD. I might upgrade down the road. It does nice work overall.
The camera angle actually ends out working because it captures the countryside. But I did correct that in a later video.
That's a pretty neat stretch of roadway; I've seen this route on a map before, but didn't have much of a clue as to its design standards. If I get back out there anytime soon, I'll probably attempt to drive this.
Quick question. Did you have your camcorder set to "Automatic focus"?? If so, try resetting it to manual focus (this question is pertaining to your annotation at 1:33).
@FreewayBrent Yeah, you're right, that was the problem. I shot a bunch of video and didn't see notice it until I looked back at it. It only happened on two occaisions, once in this video and in a forthcoming video.
are you able to get other roads in other states such as PA or WV?

Expect a Fall re-shoot of this video in October.

Nice video.
Virginia needs to get with it, in terms of posting reasonable speed limits on rural divided highways. 55 doesn't cut it.

@VaFreeways
I'd read that, about the Virginia governor signing a bill to raise the rural Interstate speed limit. That's a good start.
