  • Sounds like a Birdie

  • Rumor has it that the SL-5's are supposed to have K-3H horns on them. Think of the Acela Express power car and HHP-8 horns with the highest and lowest notes missing.

  • yeah baby yeah, holy moly that's terrible

  • SEPTA should use the same kind of horn that the Philadelphia Flyers used for their goal horn from 2003-2004.

Look up "Philadelphia Flyers Goal Horn (2003-2004)" or "Flyers Custom Goal Horn".

  • Nah, it's just a shot horn. They'll fix it. Usually they're really good about that kind of thing. Most of our trains have really cool horns.

  • Sounds like the horn has a low pressure problem. It could be the soinold problem

  • The horn is a Leslie RS-2M where the #44 bell has gone silent and the #31 bell isn't doing a great job. The Leslie RS-2M is a great horn, but Septa treats them like crap. Lycoming Valley Railroad has great Leslie S-2M horns. It's like NS and the P5, the P5 is a great horn, but NS makes it crap (and the P3 also).

  • i agree,SEPTA does treat there horns badly.

  • yeah hopefully the new units septa gets will have better horns

  • WTF WAS THAT? THE OTHER HORNS ON THE SILVERLINER IV's are better.

  • so very true.

  • That horn was lame! SEPTA has the worst horns ever!! NJT may have some bad K5LAs on the Comet V but they are much better then SEPTA'S!!!!! Cool night shot though. ***** for the night shot (*****)!!!!!

  • thanks!

  • Those SilverLiner IV HAVE BEEN AROUND AS FAR BACK AS 1976!!!!

CHANGE THOSE HORNS OR GET NEW TRAINS.

    SEPTA, THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

  • yes i wish they would get new horns, but they are getting new trains to replace the old units.

  • They don't have to get new horns, because new horns don't sound as good, they should just retune them back to the good sounding horn it used to be, but railroads are pretty horn uneducated.

  • The Silverliner V units that SEPTA is buying is to replace the 1963-vintage Silverliner II units.

I think SEPTA should develop a trainset that uses a diesel locomotive that can also raise a pantograph in electrified territory - that way, they can run on a lot more trackage, including the old RDG Bethlehem branch, etc.

I love the sound of the Hornblasters HB4H (the old Flyers' goal horn), but I've heard that they are not reliable. I'd also love to see K5LA's on SEPTA trains as well.

  • i would sugest new horns...

  • when

  • im not sure.

  • can u try film the r3 while u at platform of woodbourne station instead of the parking lot

when u going take r3 train ride

  • if i take a ride,yes.

  • Most likely, that set of cars spent that day as follows:

6:07 am left Elwyn as train 328. 8:17 am left West Trenton as train 329. 11:01 am left Elwyn as train 350. 1:02 pm left West Trenton as train 349. 3:12 pm left Elwyn as train 370. 5:18 pm left West Trenton as train 371. 7:17 pm left Elwyn as train 390 with scheduled arrival at West Trenton at 8:56 pm. The next day, they likely left West Trenton at 6:06 am as train 315.

  • these cars do travel back and forth among the SEPTA System.

  • this horn it's like a goddamn piano key

  • it does,lol.

  • yeah, their horns suck!!

  • Yes the Silverliner IVs have nasty horns.

  • that sounds like my MSTS silverliner II horn

  • really,i dont think it does,i use that horn for my silverliner IVs.
