4 did not pass, I think people were concentrating on 8 too much. However I feel that Prop 8 was more important because Prop 4 didn't prevent abortion it only required parents to be notified. Still disappointed it didn't pass though.

Unfortunately that wasn't the case. A similar law has been proposed and defeated for the past 4 years. Defeated by a narrow 2 point margin, but defeated nonetheless. I think its just basic that the parents be allowed to know.

I think the yes on 4 people should have driven home the fact that in many places, minors can't have minor surgery without parental consent. If abortion groups feel that giving parents the right to be informed when a living human being is sucked from inside their daughter, their priorities are really warped.

I thought this passed. Did I hear wrong? If I did then I must say I am disapointed with Califorian citizens I thought there might of been some hope for California as the liberals take over. At least 8 past by a slim margin, because when judges over rule over the will of the people we lose just a little more of our liberites, and it just might happen again, it will probably never end, because just look what happens when liberals don't get their way.

what if a young teenager got raped? are they really going to want to tell there parents that and then possibly be denied an abortion from them? its inhumane to make an already conscious being go through pregnancy at birth when they are so young. although if theyve just been sleeping around... then thats another story... in that case yes its just careless abandonment. =)

None of that is the real issue. This is about parents being able to know that their child might be undergoing a medical procedure and maybe take more responsibility for their children. Thank God this passed!

Go fuck your self how are they not real issues? If your child isnt coumfortable telling you they have a problem it is because you havent taught them to trust you with sensative issues. If a girl cant deal with her parents knowing then she shouldent have to let them know. What if she is ashamed or was raped and cant bare the idea of explaing it to parents who will turn there back on her. She should be able to decide what is best for her in such a crucial and possibly damaging time.

If I have the responsibility to take care of my teenage daughter, then I should know if she is about to under go a major medical procedure. Which an abortion is. Also if your daughter ends up in a situation where she is raped, its your fault by allowing her to much freedom in her day to day life where her young and impressionable mind, could easily be municipalized.

Its more inhumane to allow an minor to scar herself emotionally for the rest of her life just so she can end her pregnancy without her parents finding out. Minors are too young to make these kinds of decisions. I'm a minor and I respect that. If they got raped, than they can put the child up for adoption, yes pregnancies are long and painful, but not as painful as a lifetime of living with past mistakes.

Prop 4 doesn't give parents the right to deny their daughter an abortion. It just allows them to know, and possibly advise them. That's pretty basic in my opinion.

Here, you can see that 46% of women having abortion did not use contraception. In other words, 54% did. A different study I had seen showed that around 70% did use contraception.
