  • I have 500 B & W photos of surfing tournaments in Galveston,I just started listing them on e-bay for sale,They were photos taken by a sports photographer from the Houston Post,I wish I knew who they were,I sold some to Pat Magee,he knew most of the surfers...cool video ...after I gather more photos,I'm laying them out and composing some music ,I will put together a video and show the photos, lots of great "Nose Rides"...some beach surf shops etc...I will go take a look at your web-site....

  • Did you know Lee Lucas ? Fry comp. team...

  • I didn't surf but I lived there at that time and was also looking for people I knew back then. I was in a home for runaways called "The Bridge" around 1971 In Galveston, TX. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone familiar with the place or know someone who was there. I was 11 years old at the time but the place mainly had teenagers staying there. I remember walking on the sea wall and going through a hurricane.

  • beautiful waves!

  • omg i lived 1 mile from the fishing pier WOW WHAT MEMORIES

  • hey did anyone know Dwayne Nolte from this time?

  • does anyone remember stuart jowell

  • nice but i got two questions. Is the water in the winter colder than southern california's water which is about 78 degrees currently? and do u think surfing in galveston is pretty fun for a beginner?

  • The water is colder in the winter & surfing in galveston would be fun for a beginner

  • ok thanks man im getting my board soon

  • @AOdaman

i was here a lot back then but i don't see me and my 7' Hansen Superlight in the videos. I think the water here is warmer than what you are describing and it's not as good as this anymore. There used to be a sandbar that made the waves break and it isn't as pronounced now probably due to storms like Alicia (83) and Ike. However decent days are still here, just harder to find. Try Surfside.
