@rollingwith24s he just got a good start and it looks like the car 3 positions ahead of him before the restart got a slow jump bottling up the group and forcing him to go low to keep up his momentum and make the pass. it takes the cars about a lap to get up to full speed so anytime you can get a jump before the green drops you have a huge advantage in momentum
@nuncahomo he would only have died if he had hit the wall head on... and he was about 2 feet from that. he would have just clipped it otherwise, and probably would not have been seriously hurt

Okay, if you honestly did not see it, then you obviously don't understand what's considered to be close call in Indy Car, let alone auto-racing in general. Watch from :10 to :14 and hopefully you'll realize "what happened".
From a different angle, you can see a puff of dust come up, proving he did whitewall the inside wall. He's unfazed as his hands don't even move, and he doesn't overreact/overcorrect..he just drives through it, and continues to accelerate.
Had the rain not come right after the Marco flip, Dario was out of sequence and would have had to eventually pit, and Helio would have pretty much taken over the lead....and probably would have been a 3-time winner.

Okay, if you honestly did not see it, then you obviously don't understand what's considered to be close call in Indy Car, let alone auto-racing in general. Watch from :10 to :14 and hopefully you'll realize "what happened".

From a different angle, you can see a puff of dust come up, proving he did whitewall the inside wall. He's unfazed as his hands don't even move, and he doesn't overreact/overcorrect..he just drives through it, and continues to accelerate.
Had the rain not come right after the Marco flip, Dario was out of sequence and would have had to eventually pit, and Helio would have pretty much taken over the lead....and probably would have been a 3-time winner.
