@shiteetah Well, nice to hear from you, too! Sorry about the salivating wife thing. Was all that dripping a gentle hint to get out there and catch her some crappie? My wife wonders why I slobber while cleaning them....... :)
@nealbassin Thanks, Neal. I have no idea what a straight up g is (GaGa has two g's) so I'll just have to agree with you - ha! Thanks for watching and best wishes.
@bugsme10 Yes, and I'm catching fish again, too! Ha! Stay married if you can because my Wedding Singer rates are out of sight. Not sure how your bicycle would work in the wedding, but it would be unique...... :)
@seemyshell Absolutely. In fact, last season I came in first place in the "America's Got No Talent" competition. :) Thanks for watching and glad you liked the fun stuff.
@NWanglerz Yep. One thing's for certain, GaGa songs are rhytmic....I have a little AM-FM radio (uses one AAA battery) that keeps me company. Of course there was some post-production audio mix in there (very clever by me) since you really couldn't hear what was coming through the earphones. Gonna try your trout worms on crappie today! Will let you know if you need to change the name to Crappie Worms! Don
@Traveler2112 Yes, she is, Bo. I enjoy listening to her album enroute to the lake. Can't imagine what it must be like to be just a kid in school and doing all the musical enterprise at the same time. Must be something in the air up there in Edmonton! Don
@MegaTroutFishing Thanks, Chris! No drilling through ice either! Oh, I'll add you to my "fan" dance list/shout out card, and if I dont' forget in all the excitement of my next trip I'll say hello. Still one more video of the "early Jan" trips ready to be uploaded, but I'm going again today on a new trip. Best wishes, Don
@Winkiedoodles i hear you thats great Don - what is the water clarity where you are fishing? is it crystal clear all the way to bottom or do you have some haziness in the water? around here i used to catch some nice crappie this time of year but recently nothing - even with tiny jigs but our water was changed dramatically with huricane Irene and those changes have not reversed yet.
@bloodknot101 The water is clear down to around 3 feet and then hazy (a nice blue/green color). I'm finding them on rockpiles and drop offs in 8-10 feet using a leader length of around 6-7 feet. Clobbered them again today after a 2 week break; used some new and different little jigs. I think those PUNKS don't mind making my day!
That's something else you & my Dad have in common, Don. "Calibrated Eyeballs!" (Dad also has "Calibrated Feet," being the awesome Land Surveyor he is.....Dad always told me you should never use a preposition to end your sentence with.....LOL!) Another great one from Don's Fishin' Feast! Keep 'em comin', bro! Man! Did you get into 'em or what? That Lake Springfield sure has some killer Slabs! Do you eat any of 'em? Have a great day!
@OutdoorsmanByDesign Your dad is a smart man and knows both surveying and the King's English very well. Matt, there's more crappie in that lake than the national debt. They've moved up the river and are congregating at various "hotspots" here and there. I've located a few places; certainly not all, and was just lucky to bring lures they wanted. Yes, of course they go from lake to fry pan; great table fish. Going today; wish me luck! Don
@pelletgun12 Thanks, Mike, but whoever told you that was crazy....... :) As you know, crappie fishing is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Even the "big" fish are generally smallish and don't jump or drag you around the lake, but still a lot of fun!
Great stuff, Don. My fever's up but I missed a perfect day to fish last week, as I was still taking down the Christmas decorations. We should have some warmer weather coming shortly, and I'm going to hit the lake. Keep up the good work. I still haven't caught up on all the videos you and Matt have uploaded in the last 5 weeks.
@CASSCOMOSURVEYOR Thanks, Roger. I had ours down by 2 Jan and think it was around the 3d when I decided to try this whole Jan crappie fishing adventure. I went the next 4 days and then took 2 weeks off because of high winds and family requirements. Going out in an hour or so again so wish me luck! Don
you're becoming the new mr. crappie! definately going to have to get some mega strike cuz if its good enough for roland... its good enough for me haha. great vid.
@bassinmissouri Thanks. Crappie have traditionally taken a second row seat in my fishing agenda (bass focused). Of course I've caught a lot in the past, but the whole middle of winter in a river in a kick boat-pontoon thing is new for me so it is fun to have figured them out. I'll be focusing on big lake crappie this year in my Tracker.
@FishingwithKT Thank you! I don't know for sure if they cleaned their rooms up or not (slobs), but I did catch several nice slabs! :) Thanks for watching.
@virginiabassin Sure. Three primary ways. 1. Sling it out, let it sit. 2. Cast, and wait. Then pull 2-4 feet. Repeat. 3. Cast, wait, retrieve s-l-o-w-l-y. All three of these methods worked in the area I was fishing, and I'd often vary the method with each cast of the squirt or the Float N Fly jig. Trying again today; wish me luck!
@CaliFishingV2 Yes, and I put a comment on your profile about being careful with that copyright business. I don't know why some channels are seemingly able lto use any song in the universe with no issues while others are banned or blocked.
@spaceroamer Well, you have pike, perch and bluegill, so I bet there's crappie in the area as well. I'd caught them in the spring and summer before and an "old timer" told me to look for them in the area I was fishing. I just looked at the little fish finder and there they were, so some sort of fish finder should help you find them.
Great :D
