  • that's why i don't have girls... naaah, i'm ugly.

  • band sits down together "so we need decide what were going to play." "well im good at everything" "me too" "same here"... "so i guess were doing everything...damn our songs are going to be long"

  • The ending of this song is better than sex.... well almost.

  • Looking at the people who disliked this video,,,I understand it's not your cup of tea...but truly how can you not at LEAST admire the musicianship,,,bands like this are VERY VEERY RARE..Hell even I know people who listen and LOVE rap call this amazing.

  • i would hate to play this song on rock band i would not have any arms left

  • One of the greatest songs of our time.

  • this song is a fucking masterpiece!!!

  • 7 people couldn't swim to the moon.

  • i perfer there old school shit

  • @SKUNK210 well thats a given, but you should try harder and listen, hear all of it. Its suprasick and creative and they are just getting better which i didnt think was possible.. Release Part 2 of Parallax fags

  • @HiPPoKryPtiC They definitely improved from Colors to Great Misdirect, and even more so from there to Parallax. Their musicianship is amazing, composition is indescribably good; I'm pleased and surprised that they haven't plateaued.

If you look at Protest the Hero(apples and oranges) from Fortress to Scurrilous, they didn't really evolve much, didn't seem to take the time writing and developing like BTBAM did and does. The point being that bands need to grow and develop, and BTBAM does it well.

  • like you are climbing over a hill between 4:50 and 5:39 .... then someone hits you in your fucking face at 5:40 O.0

  • You can't really compare the two albums, they are different in so many ways and focus on different aspects of the bands talents. They are both amazing albums but in different ways.

  • White walls was more.... focused.

  • Swim to the Moon is no White Walls, but it's damn good.

  • @calmsnowfall I actually like this better than white walls... Ive been listening to this album a lot and i think i may like it better than colors. every track is fucking awesome

  • @ElectricTurkey1

Every aspect of this song is poorly done compared to White Walls. The lyrics, structure, everything. TGM is decent as a whole, but in parts it feels forced and unoriginal. Colors was the band at their very best.

  • 8.31 - 8.46. Just listen to those drums, HOLY SHIT

  • 4:02 most amazing guitar section of any song.. imo

  • this is actually a lot like dt, in my opinion. but with a different kind of lyrics. they should be called scream theater haha

  • Those 7 dislikes were obviously people that could not Swim to the Moon

  • I love it how 70,000 people listened to the first part of this song and only 50,000 people listened to the second part. Did they just decide they didn't want to listen to the rest?

  • my dad raised me on Pink Floyd.

I'm gonna raise my kids on BTBAM

  • stop yelling, can't see shit

  • How the fuck can they play... let alone, COMPOSE something like this ????!!!!!

  • I love BTBAM, but their screaming sections that consist of just rhythms and pitchless chugs seem to be like a time filler or something. I love this half of this song because they have the perfect balance of awesome parts and chug riffs. Like 90%/10%. I feel like with every cd they are getting better, adding in more awesome parts/ genres and removing generic time filler stuff. Overall, these guys know prog and are all talented. I like.

  • 4:03, does anyone else think thats the best riff ever? i feel like a god when i play it!!!

  • For every minute of this song that I listen to, my penis grows an inch longer.

  • one of the most brilliant bands in the history of the world. everyone should listen to between the buried and me. the vocals and grind aspects can be abrasive to some, but if you can look past whatever preconceived notions you have about this band and enjoy it for what it truly is, youll be let in on one of the most magical things music has to offer. i encourage everyone to spread the word; between the buried and me has begun their reign!

  • 4:21 is when I cream my pants every single time I listen to this song.

That wall of sound is simply unreal.

Swim to the Moon is easily one of the most technical, most complex yet catchy and listenable, epic, and simply outragous compositions our time.

Between the Buried and Me are the Beethoven and Mozart of our time.

    The melodies...

The constant time and tempo changes that somehow flow so flawlessly...

The more I think about it, I harder I find it to comprehend...

  • Hold on, is this an 18 MINUTE SONG??!!!! Holy dumb fuck!!!

  • this song is great for having sex to, they get unintentionally super wet and uncontrollable when this song is playing

  • LIsten to the drums at 4:15 to 4:21 WOW so just i cant even describe it. its the little things that make these guys sick.

  • man this song needs to be LONGER ;)

  • I believe Between The Buried And Me just makes people jizz everywhere with their sexy musical awesomeness lol, I love em!:)

  • This is genious, i lovvee listening to it straight through, its epicc

  • I'm finishing up listening to this entire album here on YouTube, and I must say, this isn't an easy band to digest for a person like me who doesn't listen to a TON of prog and isn't a musician myself. That being said, I do have experience with other bands that are classified as prog or display prog leanings, and this band seems like the kind of band that could become one of my favorites after like 10 listens. The more subdued parts are amazing already, the crazier stuff will take time to grow.

  • why are more poeple not astonished by this band!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Why do both parts of this song not have over 50 million views?

  • 8:00-8:05 greatest moment in music

  • This band is the most EPIC WIN one in the entire musical scene.

  • favourite song on the album, second to obfuscation!............does anybody know the significance of the line " close one eye, step to the side "- the line is mentioned throughout the album and i have no idea what it means

  • @heaucribant1991 "close one eye, step to the side" refers to humanitys inability to to accept an alternate reality and see the truths that are hidden from us. It also has a big part to do with the concept of "CHANGE BLINDNESS", and how the slightest change( like closing one eye and stepping to the side) can give you a heightened perspective and better awareness of the world in which we live. Dont fall into the mold. Or your reality will be shaped and controlled by those who created it.

  • @heaucribant1991 possibly like...look at the world from a different eye, a different point of view? if you close one eye and step to the side your looking at the same thing with your opposite eye. idk thats what i think :P

  • 7:04 - 7:25 makes me wanna cry

  • if i had paul waggoners pinky and ring finger id be complete.

  • @shelalabambook ad a little more,if you don't mind

    1:54 Jazzy tune

    2:32 get a little funky

    3:00 love your keyboard

3:19 having sex with your keyboard?

    4:50 egypt

5:40 Shit your pants in multiple colors

6:29 riding on a lonesome highway

    7:04 relax a bit

  • @th3youngMETALattack i really just loled after i read this especially the having sex with your keyboard

  • @th3youngMETALattack I shit my pants again around 7:30

  • @th3youngMETALattack This just about wraps it up! The epic at the end is a masterful piece of music with some unusual shouting vocals along with the death vocal style. This sounds weird after the country song previously. The vocals are not all that bad even for those who may not be into this brutal stuff. The music is as usual very complex and replete with lead breaks and odd percussion and bass patterns. The band are so tight it is criminal, the drum fills and lead breaks are awesome.

  • Between the Buried and Me remove all trace of cynicism in me. If just for a little while. ^^

  • This could ultimately be the best song i've heard in my whole entire life

  • THIS SONG IS EPIC!!!!!!

  • I love the way Tom screams Swim To the moon at the end.

  • I love the riff where paul lets a couple notes ring out it sounds so amazing

  • Paul Waggoner has some of the most beautiful sweeps that I have heard out of any guitarist out there. Just listen to this song, "Selkies", and "Ants of the Sky" to see for yourself.

  • I was sipping water and at 5:40 i nearly choked... i fucking love this band

  • @ceddimo replace water with beer and I had an almsot identical experience. ^^

  • I love the way his voice sounds when he says "moon" at 0:34.

  • lotsoweed + BTBAM = ....woah

  • @svveett lol hellyeah man

  • @svveett i can imagine

  • man this is the worst rap song ever made

  • Anybody else notice how this sounds just like Beyond this Life by Dream Theater?

  • @Creampuft Oh yeah, at 2:20 you can kinda tell

  • Whenever i hear this,I always think of White Walls.

Whenever i hear Obfuscation, i think of Prequel to the Sequel

Whenever i hear Mirrors, it reminds me of Foam Born A

I think there music and how it sounds are universal

    (which means its plain awesome...)

  • @vcc5 huh Obfuscation = Prequel?? interesting

i was thinking Disease Injury Madness = Prequel

  • Can anyone tell me if the riff from 3:46 to 4:00 is the same as one from Ants of the Sky? It sounds the same.

  • @EmoSceneKid654 its not, its somewhat similar to a riff near the end of Sun of Nothing

  • theriverdragon and hamesdolong, you guys are right. yeah drugs are superb but stoned to the bone. its scrotumnuts!

  • i love how it just goes from brutal and fierce...to slow...quiet...then jumps into a breif second of pagan folk...back into heavy...back into pagan folk...then just starts blending shit together while we all shit our spines in awe of their musical genius...when i first heard this song i was forced into seizures and multiple eargasms

  • @shelalabambook i don't think thats too healthy..

but i know what you mean!

  • @shelalabambook DON'T FORGET THE DRUM SOLO

DRUM SOLO DRUM SOLO DRUM SOLO

  • This song and album is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Never in my life have i related to an album so well. Its Progressive death metal but these songs are more complex and beautiful than anything that ive ever listened to. The mix of Easy listening, folk, jazz, and death metal created an unheard sound in this generic shithole we call earth. My only hope is that im listening to this song as i die so i too one day can swim to the moon. These songs will never leave me, nor will i ever forget their meaning.

  • listening to this cd on any sort of drugs must completely destroy your mind.

  • @theriverdragon i listen to this band all the time when im high its so amazing when your baked especially listening to the whole album cuz it blends together sooo nicely

  • theres so much anticipation and suspense throughout this entire song. PERFECT!!

  • yo i met these dudes in the Brewery in Raleigh NC.... bad ass live.....

  • 8:19 makes me wanna freak out xD

i love that part so much :D

  • their best song by the way

  • i would give every member of between the buried and me the best blowjob i could. cause there greater than god.

  • this song is just fuckin epic ♥

  • Whenever I hear that final chord I get a rush of endorphins. This song is amazing

  • Slide into the water

    Become one with the sea

    Life seems so much smaller

    Swim to the Moon

  • This song is amazing, but can't touch white walls.

  • @jbarzee89 isaw both of these live in NOLA. iwould say they both are untouchable

  • is 3:20 to 3:32 keys? tht just blew my mind....

  • @ZeppelinForever9

you know? i don't think it is...

  • @SkylarrL i saw it live and hes just going crazy with with modulator on the keys, thts why it sounds like that

  • @ZeppelinForever9

    Really? damn.

  • Dude watch

    /watch?v=3Dn-wCaD34o&feature=related

and you'll see Tommy record it. He just like rapes his keyboard.

  • i love every second of this song

  • they bring that kr00sh shred, guy

  • synth solo!!!!

  • Studying to this tune, it's fucking beasting

  • Perfect in every way imaginable.

  • Oh my god, the vocal harmonies give me eargasms all day long. I love this song.

  • it's just so much going on, but somehow they make it all make perfect sense. it's genius.

  • @guitarnukka724 Its called Music theory, harmonize and Timing and Ye, thats why is technical. Its awesome.

  • @ITSjustanothercommen lol i know what it is.. i mean even for progressive metal it's a lot going on and a lot of technical things that you wouldn't even think of

  • Wow. First couple of times I listened to this album I still preferred Colors. I have slowly but surely changed my mind. If you take out the sections when he sings "Floating towards the sun...", "Sleep on..", and "WHITE WAAAAALLLLS" from that album, it sucks. This album is a progressive masterpiece. Except for Obfuscation. lol

  • @TehSpiritCrusher What's wrong is Obfuscation?

  • @TehSpiritCrusher whoa whoa. give it a couple listen tos again. the crazy way they act like a hive mind with two distinct groups. bass and drum and guitar and vocals. way the bass takes control of that song and how the drums follow with the guitars covering the melody. its crazy man. thats one of their best where u can actually see how intricate they really are

  • Wunderbar

  • i feel like they just throw slow in parts in random parts of the song.

  • I'm trying to learn from 1:00-4:50 on the piano and holy shit is this song ever hard. I've got 10 fingers to work with and I still can't keep up. Paul Waggoner is the 2nd coming of Christ I swear.

  • @Hoovus9 Tommy Rogers does the piano/keys

  • @slapguitarer Well I know that. You can get GuitarPro to transcribe the tablature into staff notation and I'm using that to learn it on piano.

Regardless, the organ solo in that section is still nuts so props to Tommy for pulling it off too.

  • @Hoovus9 Oh, I didn't really understand what you meant at first, sorry about that. Yea learning the guitar parts on piano is gonna be a struggle. BTBAM is just the definition of talent

  • talking about prog metal dont leave out dream theater although there not as good as btbam they got some pretty amazing songs

  • This whole song is amazing. I hope that one day I'll write a song as epic as this.

  • Such a glorious song, BTBAM is one of my favorite bands...along with Opeth. Man...the Colors album was definitely my favorite...but I have to say The Great Misdirect is right up there with it.......I LOVE how the lyrics of all BTBAM songs sound like stories. not normal pop lyrics that rhyme, but actually POETIC PIECES OF ART! BEAUTIFUL!

  • It's like a brother to White Walls...which makes it sexy.

  • @guitardude1243 HELL YEA! two fine ass sexy songs! mmm mmm!

  • @guitardude1243 Or perhaps a sister to Ants of the sky.... which makes it extra sexy

  • @guitardude1243 This song is actually considered to be a part of "Sun of Nothing". A very sexy part of Sun of Nothing..

  • @guitardude1243 I like it more than white walls.

  • @guitardude1243 i read on wikipedia its supposed to be a brother to sun of nothing from the album colors?

  • @guitardude1243 Tommy has stated that in a way its a continuation of "Sun of Nothing"

  • @guitardude1243 and a cousin to Racecar by Periphery

  • @guitardude1243 watch white walls live at house of blues new orleans, itll knock your socks off =P

  • Actually "Swim to the Moon" in my opinion, relates more to the song "Sun of Nothing" in that both song are talking about a person whos mind and will is to fix this troubled earth and find peace, but abandonment, lonliness and/or death is the only way to achieve true peace, and is what makes it impossible anything short of death itself. Which brings us to "floating twards the sun" and "swimming to the moon". The' both metaphors for accepting the fact that fate, peace, and death are all one.

  • AMAZING.

I looove how BTBAM go from a heavy, sick, breakdown to a softer melodic... and then put it all together.

  • that break down is fucking epic.

  • Between the Buried and Me is the greastest band in the world to be able to constantly play like that remember it, be that creative and make it sound incredible. It's what makes BTBM the greatest Heavy Metal Band in the WORLD.

  • New flash: No one cares about genres.

  • Old flash: learning to spell saves lives

  • Probably the best Youtube reply ever. Nice one

  • @zeroskater105 I wouldn't go as far as saying they are the Greatest Heavy Metal Band in the World, but their pretty close... Their definitely the best Prog Metal band :D

  • Opeth

  • Definite king crimson influences in some of these parts. 2:45 especially

  • @flopeartbruford

hell yes its cause these guys take influences from great bands and make more great music with those influences

  • EVERYONE shut the hell up please, lets all stop debating and please just listen to the godliness that is BTBAM-Swim To the Moon.

  • You can't handle it, get outta here.

  • 4:22 ummm holy shit it meshes together so well

  • emericashoes you fuckin douche bag, thanks a bunch for posting this sick album!!! :D

  • alance out of them all, but thats just me.

If they could make something that combined Colors progressive intellect and Alaska's heavy but steady technicality, then they would have a masterpiece on their hands.

  • Ehh, personally i find Obfuscation and Disease, Injury, Madness are the closest things on this album to what BTBAM is all about. This one comes in third but about half this song and the rest of the album just sound way too progressive.

It's not necessarily a bad thing they wanted to do something more progressive, it just doesn't appeal to me as much as their past albums have.

When they made Colors, you could see the progressive influence settling in as a primary.

Alaska i found had the best b

  • @ReaperofLight00 I agree, although I liked Colors a bit more than Alaska It had a perfect mix of soft, heavy, and other XD

  • Still the best band I've heard, always keeping it fresh. I just wish more people were more opened minded and stopped listening to just Young Money and Kesha or whatever that bitch is called and listen to music that requires some knowledge of theory and compostion

  • hashisan

im a huge metal/progressive fan, but just because you listen to music that your not a fan of doesnt make you close minded. Music just might not be their passion as im assuming yours is

but i do agree in hating that stupid kesha bitch lol

  • I thought Colors was more music wankery then TGM, and that TGM felt alot better written.

  • Fantastic guitar work!!

  • Between the Buried and Me...brought to you by Ponzi International.

Does emericashoes hope to recoup his $250 'investment' by recruiting BTBAM fans into a pyramid scheme?

I would hope people aren't that dumb, but you never know...

  • @emericashoes

What a coincidence! That's exactly the reply I'd use if I was trying to recruit people into a pyramid scheme.

  • @emericashoes its a sceme dont even try to bullshit your way out of it lol

  • @emericashoes Why don't you just re-invest that $10,000 into 40 separate investments of $250 and make yourself $400,000, if this works so well?

  • @pinman101 Clever.

  • @emericashoes im just happy to see you guys listening to BTBAM. always bought emerica, love them :D

  • @lithiumdeuteride

Maybe not a Ponzi scheme, but yeah, it looks pretty sketchy.

  • Did anyone hear Dream Theater through out this song? o_O Like, I picked up some bits and pieces of it. But...I think it might just be me.

  • OK, 2:21 to 2:33 sounds very much like parts of Dream Theater's "Beyond This Life." Does anyone hear what I'm talking about?

Not that I'm calling BTBAM ripoff artists, I'm just sayin'.

  • ha i didn't catch that the first time through, but now that you mention it...

  • well..unfortunately...BTBAM and have become very Dream Theater-ish and stopped writing good cohesive songs and went for the "look what I can do!" type shit...musical wankery. No doubt they are world class musicians but the musical masturbation on this album really hurts it and what made Colors such a better album.

  • @InvisibleTeeth i would like to disagree, this song is half solo, but its half of what makes it epic. as for the other compositions, apart from a few headscratchers, most of them are very well composed pieces with complementary parts that really mesh. only thing about colors is that it was a bit more avant garde, and the fact that the whole album was one song -_-

songs in misdirect are in general more complete. i thnk ur just more dissappointed it wasnt colors II

  • No..not really...in fact I like this song...but it was TOO much like colors...especially like obsfucation and DIsease, Injury, Madness...it's what makes Fossil Genera, Desert of Song, and Swim to the Moon better than the first 3 songs....Mirrors isnt all that great either IMO.

  • continue listening to the first 3 albums, as for me i enjoy the progressive direction, though i wouldnt mind some more old school BTBAM songs thrown on the album as well

  • I'm not one of those "I only like old school shit" type people...my only gripe with the album si it's far less cohesive than Colors was....alot of the song sound like a mish-mash of whatever...the exception being Fossil Genera...which is brilliant IMO.

  • @InvisibleTeeth Welcome to progressive music then XD lol

  • Why is this comment here? It's definitely supposed to be replied to the your post above kamikaz1k's..

  • its a thread system now, so all relevant are just lined chronologically

@InvisibleTeeth: i think ur right, been listening to colors again, as an album it works way better...but obfuscation and mirrors are still great.

  • love the psychadelic bit at 6:35 :D

  • SHROOOMS! LMFAO!

  • shevanel cut a flip my fave :D

  • orderd that and colors. and my roadtrip will be perfect

  • am i suppose to nut every time i hear this.. i fear i might need medical attention

  • Thats it I'm getting this album. Like a drummerd dream album haha!! I like it because they fuse so many differant styles together that it all becomes some beast or massive proportions!!
