  • He looks very much like Steve Jobs late in his life.

  • Gandhi is so epic....

  • Interviewer: "Will you be prepared to die in the process of India's Independence?"

Gandhi: "It is a bad question!"

lol at Gandhi's bent for adhereing to probity irrespective of occassion

  • I've read that he did have affairs with his followers wives, I'm not sure if it's been fully proven, but even if it is true, who cares? Affairs are so common today, and frankly, I find that side of Gandhi boring. His other side is much more enlightening, proven and interesting.

  • What a gangster. The father of the Indian accent.

  • this is a bad question *laughs pwns

  • There's a grave calm about him. Almost like some arcane god pondering on the fate of his creations...

  • Ok, Question. What is it about Gandhi sleeping with two girls under sixteen every night? Anyone?

  • @MrMonkeyInk The story behind him sleeping with two girls is, in fact, a little strange. Gandhi, who was celibate at the point this video was taken, often practiced self-discipline. He did not feel that sexual desire was evil, but he did feel that for him, it was a deterrent from his goals and philosophy. Therefore, he shared a bed one evening with two young women to see if he would be tempted sexually. In the end, he was not, but by today's standards used a strange way to test himself.

  • @MrMonkeyInk not every night, at maximum once he tried to see if he was tempted sexually, he was not. He practised self discipline and wanted to test his self discipline. I recommend reading "Experiments of Truth" Gandhiji's autobiography.

  • Gandhi's sense of humor really comes through here. Great video.

  • @Water4Jermemiah : your argument about moderation and acceptance sounds a bit sanctimonious. Gandhiji's pro abstinence and pro revolution stand still has an apparently secure foundation when compared to the pro moderation and pro acceptance principle adopted now.

Also to sum it up "whenever there is a choice between cowardice and violence choose violence" therefore revolutions(violent and non violent) rock!!!!!

  • what a fucking G

  • i love how he doesnt look at the interviewer.

  • Here's my questions for Gandhi:

"If you came to the realization that a god doesn't exist, would you teach that message to your people?"

"Don't you think educating people and allowing people to drink alcohol (moderation) is better than prohibition which would cause violence?"

"What would you have done to try to bring Pakistan and India together?"

"What do you suggest would be the best way to defeat worldwide poverty?"

"Where does the most source of happiness in your life comes from?"

  • No offense or anything, but he was a man that belonged in his time. Nothing more or nothing less. He simply would not fit into this world we currently live in. I'm glad he did what he did for his country though. But prohibition? Really? That's almost laughable. Believing in a god? Really? That's laughable to today's higher standards.

The problems we face today require moderation and acceptance, not abstinence and revolution.

  • @Water4Jeremiah I guess I know what you mean but I feel like that's not the point. Don't forget Gandi is a tactician, from that stand point, he doesn't need to fit in for his tactics to. Look at the wall street protests and civil rights movements for ex, even if Gandi isn't the designer of these tactics, if it may be a part of our instinct, it is still a model of plan/execute/stay we can study and learn from. We today may not fit in in the future, but all will be studied for thousands of years

  • Great man right here.

  • In 2000 years, he will have the same status as Jesus or Buddha have today.

  • @nilsoroni Gandhi never wanted to be worshipped as any sort of deity. He's just a man that knew how to appeal to the religious sensibilities of his time. Such tactics won't work today because god doesn't exist.

  • Albert Einstein said about Gandhi: We may all be happy and grateful that destiny gifted us with such an enlightened contemporary, a role model for the generations to come.

  • @manukanjoor That's what almost everybody says about Gandhi.

  • Albert Einstein said: Mahatma Gandhi's life achievement stands unique in political history. He has invented a completely new and humane means for the liberation war of an oppressed country, and practised it with greatest energy and devotion. The moral influence he had on the conciously thinking human being of the entire civilized world will probably be much more lasting than it seems in our time with its overestimation of brutal violent forces.

  • Albert Einstein said: I believe that Gandhi's views were the most enlightened of all the political men in our time.

We should strive to do things in his spirit: not to use violence in fighting for our cause, but by non-participation in anything you believe is evil.

  • whos your diaper daddy!

  • Nyc english by-- our mahatma gandhi G--( jai hind alwaz-

  • indian accent ftw++

  • Mahatma Gandhi was a prophèt who change the world last year i was in india to make a partnership with a ngo

I had visited a lot of population in a painfull style of Life it was very difficult for me to saw that

I was very sad for them

I think every Indian all over the world must do just one Time in their Life a thing who CAN change their Life évén a little thing

    In a memory of mahatma

  • Oh Fox..

  • "Will you be prepared to die in the process of India's Independence?"

    "It is a bad question!"

That is an honest reply. I respect him for that.

  • @indianidol15 It is a bad question because No one every really dies. N.E.R.D.

  • Gandhi was able to show the world, by his own becoming such, the perfection of humility and the power of graceful peace. Needless to say a soul like this ought to be the leader of the world, if such a thing could exist. Unfortunately, those who seek power do not deserve it, and those who join with peace are seldom "allowed" to rule. Such as it is on earth, but other dimensions are far more "sane" than this place, thankfully ;)

  • GANDHI JI IS REALLY THE FATHER OF THE NATION

  • this interviewer also interviewed Bela Lugosi on a ship.

  • what a down to earth man!!

  • @YoshiTheBlue - Pro-abortion, Pro homosexuality, pro exclusion of religion in government, etc.. etc...etc...hardly things Gandhi stood for.

  • Actually I would say "Yes" instead of saying " It is a bad question" (the last frame of the video)

  • Why did M.K.Gandhi give name to the Dalit as "HARIJAN" means "THE CHILDREN OF TEMPLE PROSTITUTE" since he could have given a good name ??

  • @IamGodnLord do you know the meaning really??

  • Dirty gandhi and his dirty talks ! LOL

  • @TheMsUganda u dont even know what he talks

  • i love this man very much

  • lmao Gandhi walks like a G

  • So sad that liberals have used Gandhi's teachings towards irrational causes. Otherwise, this man truly was a saint and one of my favorite soldiers of truth.

  • @Snotra

    Irrational causes such as...?

  • ahaa i love his "ohh yess"

but man, i love gandhi, but fuck this history exam...

  • in that case lol :p well stereotype of western snobbery then :p

  • I agree with "rockey5638"... Bhagat Singh was the real hero and not Mahatma Gandhi..........

  • All these helped, But the truth is , Germany was hiting British home land , They had to protect themselves and their homeland.

They let go of the colonies in a face saving way.

But after creating divisons - Partision of India was made in England.

Some say the current conflicts within India are funded by the old colonizers.

Divide and conquer is tsill at work.

  • india ki barbadi ka yahi kaaran tha kaha jarurat thi pakistan divide karne ki angrez ape aap chale jaate. bhagat ne jo kiya woh gandhi 1000000000000 bar janam le le to nahi kar sakta

  • @rocky5638 aap ko Mahathma samajh me aane ke liye tho 10000000000000 baaj janmaa padtha hain!!!!!!!

  • He was so simple calm ... and he didn't rush in answering the Qs he took his time .. and made great statements .love it!

  • These foreigners are a bit head strong when it comes to conversing with asians.

This person does not realise that he is speaking to some one who is of a greater stature than all white stalwarts put together....

  • @muttsami well Gandhi's idea of India was of a classless society, therefore Gandhi is above no one, moreover he studied in England so he knows about the Western World.

  • incredible. the Brit journalist reeks of the stereotype typical of his time. cocky, narcissistic, condescending. why would he fixate on dress? an attempt to titillate viewers back home with humor directed against 'the mad old fakir' and his stubborn 'native'-ness, no doubt. Highly irritating. But the grounded poise and humble suaveness of our Mahatma is something to see. Bravo.

  • @ikshaku The interviewer's accent is American. The stereotype is apt, nonetheless; possibly more so, haha.

  • He was right it was definitely a bad question

  • He's always to deep in thought and answers every question with profound wisdom. <3

  • is there eng sub of this movie?

  • Looks like Ghandi wants to turn to him and say, "Are you serious? Please leave now, and come back later with better questions. I have history to write..."

  • @Mualkoth haha so true!!

  • @Mualkoth very bad interview, even TV9 does have better questions.

  • @Mualkoth "Please leave now and come back later. Can't you

see I have a serious case of toe jam to deal with here?"

  • @weedaholik420 abe madarchod to tu hai saale harami ke pille

  • @Transpacity Sure... and the Dalhi Llama ruined Tibet and Jesus ruined the Middle East. Peaceful figues ruin our society

  • @Transpacity watch your mouth before you make such a provocative stmt .thnx

  • @Transpacity How did he?

  • Interviewer "Would you be prepared to die, in the cause of India's independence?"

Gandhi "It is a bad question"

What a great response, something a modern reporter has no clue of.

Some things are just not meant to be dealt with in such a manner.

  • 998 billion people know him?

  • "A Jain philosopher said about the glass of orange juice given to gandhi to break his fast: "But this orange juice, this one glass of orange juice, contains millions of people's blood." gandhi gave Dalits a new name, Harijan, which literally means "sons of god," but traditionally was applied by a Gujarati medieval saint to children of temple prostitutes. gandhi once advised a Dalit graduate to scavenge in a better way, rather than take up a white-collar job. O

  • Never trust a woman. Never sit alone with a woman even if it may be your mother, she may tempt you. Do not sit alone with your daughter, she may tempt you. Do not sit alone with your sister, she may tempt you.

    -M.K.Gandhi

  • @IamGodnLord great depth in those words, not a simple human like you or me can understand the meaning.

  • "I believe that if Hindu society has been able to stand, it is because it is founded on the caste system. To destroy the caste system means that Hindus must give up the principle of hereditary occupation which is the soul of the caste system. . It will be a chaos if every day a Brahmin is to be changed into a Shudra and a Shudra is to be changed into a Brahmin. I am opposed to all those who are out to destroy the caste system." -- Mahatma Ghandi

  • @IamGodnLord I truly belive in it.

  • Get over yoourselves seriously. The immaturity on here ridiculous! India would not be where it stands right now if it wasnt for this great man and many other great men and women who fought for peace for our future generations! India is full of such vibrant culture and religions. Where else would you find this? Be Happy with what you have! Let go of Grudges!

    JAI HIND! :)

  • The freedom of india was due to the Sikhs whoever thinks otherwise needs to get slapped in the face twice do nothing and go on a hunger strike.

  • You are a Paki that's why you are ignorant

  • So I say you from now Harijan . Your family is Haijan and your clan and class is Harijan.

Now Are you happy to say you Harijan. Great Harijan son

  • Gandhi is biggest Hoax of the Century, a fiction promoted by Britishers themself.

  • @TheMsUganda u should know more about India

  • Entire Dalit in India hate and abuse Gandhi. For Dalit Gandhi's name feel disgusting and do mockery of Gandhi because of his malicious mentality against Dalit

  • @IamGodnLord 'entire dalit' is a little big word to say to identiify Gandhi in India... u do not understand `India then

  • In india, at the time, I do believe that the natives were hostile to photography and the like, on account of superstition. They believed that photographs stole small pieces of the soul. With this in mind, his reluctance is understandable.

  • beautiful

  • Harijan Means "Children of Temple Prostitute" in Hindi it is called Devdasi ke aulad.

    Gandhi said Dalit Harijan

  • @IamGodnLord Harijan - "Hari" meaning "God" & "Jan" meaning People, Together meaning "Children of God", Quit spreading Hatred and False Propoganda against Gandhi Paki Scum.

  • DIVINE souls never use word death and die. They know this life and passing is just another PART OF THE GREAT JOURNEY OF THE SOUL. I HAVE BEEN, I AM HERE AND I WILL RETURN.

    JAI SRI KRSNA

  • JAI HO

  • Gandhiji jai!

  • who is this stupid reporter..No sense of respect for the great person he was talking to

  • @shachindra3dec Definitely shouldn't have asked the question about dying.

  • @shachindra3dec The mahatma's belief system, as he always said, is NonViolence. By saying the reporter as stupid, you seem to have crossed the line, which Gandhi would have liked you to not to. If you say that you know him even a little bit, then you should not have said the guy as stupid. Forgive me if you disagree with me.

  • THAT IS A BAD QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A great man!

  • its a bad question....lols...well said Mr Gandhi

  • May God give one Gandhi to US and Afghanistan

  • this interview reminded me a bob dylan interview. interviewers can be quite insipid.

  • Gandhiji has inspired me in so many ways. had all we humans like him, this world would have been a better place. Love you gandhiji.

  • Gandhi wanted Prohibition, according to the video. If we can not grant him that, let us at least try to live up to his request of staying ever away from alcohol.

  • India needs Bapu once again..

  • @ashutoshbarawkar no we don't but we do need bhagat singh rajguru and sukhdev .

  • A very precious document: a must see testimony.

  • He had the chance to ask him ANYTHING and he asked him what he would wear...This is sad!

  • @xXxmia87 what else you going to ask him? the meaning of life? hes just a man, who cares what he thinks

  • @xXxmia87 Well That was not the time for asking what suiting or shirting he wants to wear. It was the question of Nation's Independence like 4th of July. Do you ask George Washington what he want to wear?

  • "It is a bad question",hahahaha well said Gandhiji.

  • hats off 2 n body bending 4 u bapu..

    heard ur voice 1st tym

    thank u 4 uploading rachit

  • Rare document. When asked, "Would you be prepared to give your life for indian independence?" Gandhi ji cuts all petty jingoism and says, "It is a bad qusetion."

  • i recpect him!1

  • "I am an optimist." Gandhiji's glass is ALWAYS at least half full. Namaste Bapu.

  • I actually guess it appears so because the interviewer is apparently instructed to speak loud and slow for getting the video recording right..Gandhiji though is his usual self..

  • God's son borned in Betlehem.I think borned an other child's God.He borned 1869 oct.2.

  • God's son borned in Betlehem.I think borned an other son's God .He borned 1869 oct.2.

  • Leaders leaders that what we should analyze and try to be, otherwise we can not get rid of imperail powers hand on our countries. Peace and no violence so dialogue solves the problems. Peace be upon Gandhi like many others who served for the peace of human and world
