@bumtaksi actually it´s pretty simple. if all the parts are separated, you just click on a layer and drag it above another. at 3:48, he´s nesting the left arm. so, he clicked on the layer of the lower part of the arm and dragged it above the layer with the top part. as you can see, a vertical line appears as a guide. when he relased the layer (at 3:51) the lower part became nested with the top. so, always the most important part of the body will be above the others. let me know if this helps.
I have a problem nesting images. when I import a photoshop file with my layers separated and try to nest them, the one nested becomes really small. is there a way to nest them without this unwanted size change??
@St4rdog the only way I found to vectorize was selecting a frame, right click, them import and vectorize, but only from a drawing element, not an image one. plus, the vectorize was very limited. I tried with the psd file but it combined all the layers when was imported. well, thanks anyway for the help. your tutorial was very good!!
i need help... im trying to attach the right arm which should be in front of the body, to the body i dont know how to put it in front without detaching it
@Marioiswicked there´s a very easy way to do that. nest everything you need. then go to the properties of the element you want to be in front (in this case, the arm) and change a little its "z" offset. I would say 0,1. if you change too much (1 or more), the arm will look much bigger. but the order of the layers should remain the same (the body above and the attached arm below). hope that helps.
@MovieLordMarty To ease, select the frame, then click Function Editor tab above Timeline. Select the keyframe (red square) then choose Velocity from drop-down box, click bend shape to the right of that. Now move the green handle to smooth the line.
I was very confused by using pegs... First time i add 1 peg to one draw and next all pegs to 1 peg xD Now i c i must using draws ;p Thanks. Very nice tutorial - no voice but very good!
I got Toon Boom Studio yesterday, hoping the cut-out feature would be easier than the one in Flash CS4 (That never listens to me >:O) and I had a LOT of trouble. The official site didn't help me,but your tutorial did. THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH!
Ok so. I've been using sony vegas9 to animate. i downloaded toonboom 4.5 and when i import my characters from microsoft paint it wont let me do anything to them. like change background colors or select theyre arms or legs or anything. i really dont wanna have to redraw them . any tips?
Toonboom is vector drawing, not bitmap. You could convert the images to vector with right-click, then use the cutting tools to go around the parts you want.
3d animation is not necessarily better that is a matter of opinion! Toon Boom is FANTASTIC for 2d animation but if you want to get into 3d animation then try 3ds Max or Maya by Autodesk.
I have been playing with 3ds Max... Very powerful tool for many applications, but so complex you will invest ALOT of time in it before you start producing real quality anywhere mear what you see on TV.
This is so much easier than Animate Pro.

07gdo 7 months ago
@07gdo I can't test that out to see what's happening. Try convert each layer to a vector inside TB (right-click > convert to vector) then try again.

when I try and nest by clicking and dragging, it only moves the layer. it does not nest.

If you don't have version 4.5, then you'll have to Peg every layer, then nest the pegs.
