Sometimes I worry about the U.S. I am currently in Chile right now, and here the people at least know the consequences of disobeying the police, and they deal with it. Get shot with rubber bullets, tough. You want to talk about an oppressive government, these people had a nut job Pinochet only 20 years ago. So yes they can protest, but if they get shot by rubber bullets, they should take the pain.

If the protestors were having a peaceful rally, which that's what it looks like, then the police are out of line. As for the racists post that keep popping up about Mexicans and minorities, look everyone came over here from somewhere else(except native americans), we yell land of the free and huddle masses, but then when people of color come over it's all, "Wait maybe we should rethink that". For shame, everyone deserves a chance. We should be a beacon, not a police state.
