Cortez did not conquer Mexico, for it did not exist as a nation back then. The Mexicas(Aztecs) represent only but a pillar of the current Mexican nation. The other one, among many American-Indigenous groups such as the Mayas, is the Iberians, namely Spaniards. Let us recall that Mexicans, the majority, are a mixed ethnicity.
