  • I like this guy ... Is "Alloy 52" harder on frets than regular nickel ? I have slim vintage frets.

  • @MyPat9999 The Alloy 52 is a harder material than Nickel Plated or Pure Nickel strings, however not as hard as a pure stainless steel string. Overall the harder the material the faster a fret will wear.

  • First fingerstyle song?

  • What was that skeleton song?

  • You've got to be the most passionate player I've ever seen. Great job man...... Thank you

  • what songs is he playing

  • These are the BEST strings to play on a Fender,WHY ? Because the tension of them work well on the thinner necked Jazz bass and they add a nice line drawn down the middle sound between flats and rounds. On a p-bass they give you the well known flatwound sound but can give you some of the crunchy brite-ness of a roundwound without the higher overtones of the roundwound strings. Most of all they are the perfect tension to get a Fender bass to set-up well,AWESOME STRINGS !

  • @cottonfever1221 Almost forgot, they feel so close to a flatwound which are easy on the hands as well as the frets themselves but give the sound of a worn in(not worn out)set of rounds,I cant say enuff good things about them. As a bass tech I recommend them to players who for one reason dont like the way their neck plays on their bass, and 9 out of 10 times their tension and gauge help to get their bass to play 100% better,on a finicky neck these strings work wonders getting better playability.

  • The funkiness of that fretboard is awesome.

  • Can anyone tell me what the song is that Dave plays on the fretless?

  • @Socioistic It's "Skeleton" by Buddy Mondlock.

  • Is that an Ash or Alder body?

  • Is GHS going to venture into balanced tension sets? I'd be interested in trying the Super Steels and Pressure Wounds but I'm addicted to my balanced tension sets I got from Circle K.

  • @tylerwylie Hey Tyler, we have been toying around with some prototypes here at the factory, we will let you know when we have something new to try out!

  • @TheGHSStrings

what would be the best type of the strings that would cut through but still sound dark and mellow?

  • @ejdbk You may want to try they Coated Bass Boomers, they are the classic Boomer string, but a little mellower due to the coating. Likewise the Pressurewound Flats are only slightly flattened and the brightest we offer in terms of a smooth flat wound sound.

  • @TheGHSStrings

i see,do you have a distributor in the united arab emirates?

  • @ejdbk We actually have two, Thomsun Trading & Arbi Music/Massomi & Rezaei Co.

  • @TheGHSStrings

great, the guy who runs thomsun is actually my bass teacher's friend, thanks a lot

  • @tylerwylie I second this request. I've experimented with putting together my own balanced sets from singles and I felt it made me relax my technique and be more confident playing wide interval runs as opposed to sticking to proven grooves.

  • I'm sold. I just ordered a set for my fretless Spector Euro 4lx. Can't wait!

  • Nice work on that fretless bass! Thanks from a bass man in New Hampshire!

  • what happen to these stings i don't see them on the web site.

  • @Onetruthrgv never mind found them.

  • Are there extra long scale 5 string sets that would fit a 35" scale string through body bridge?

  • what song was that plaed with the fretless? that was awesome!

  • This guy rocks!!! The first ad which I don´t have a feeling of a sell out. I might give ghs a try :-)

  • What is the song he plays on the fretless?

  • the first song sounds kinda like Cherub Rock ^^

  • How would you compare the Pressurewounds to the GHS 3060 Nylon Tapewounds?

  • @ltdbassplayer The pressurewound are a stainless steel string, while the Tapewounds are Nylon. Overall the pressurewound will be brighter and give you more pop. The tapewound will be smoother sounding and emulate a more "upright" bass sound.

  • GHS Pressurewounds were the only strings that made my Fender MIM Standard Fretless Jazz Bass sound alright. Ended up selling it to fund a fretless Carvin B40, which still has the stock stainless steel roundwounds LaBella makes for Carvin. Maybe I'll get another set of Pressurewounds for it. Are these alright for string-through-body bridges, @TheGHSStrings ?

  • @spynae The Pressurewound series should work great on most basses and bridges. The only problem I have run into is with the low B winding on a few string through bodies. Some basses have a little more length than others. However, the 4 string Carvin B40 should work well with these strings

  • Are you playing drop-d? The E string looks rather floppy compared to the rest.

  • @thenrylee It's because the camera has a hard time capturing around 40Hz.

  • @fingerboy18

LOL my bad I was on my dads account, he didn't log out. Anyways, I meant visually. It looks like its floppy. It sounded like standard tuning to me. Thats why I asked.

  • What about electric string bass.

    What are electric strings ??

  • May I say that this guy is a beast? Holy crap that fretless song was awesome. Especially on the bluesy cadenza there at the end, you can really hear some great punch and "attitude" from the strings. I'm getting a fretless bass and I wanted a roundwound sound without messing my fingerboard up. These were recommended on TalkBass and being a strictly GHS man already, I will most definitely give them a shot, doubly so now because of this video. LOVE that sound; great job GHS, yet again!

  • @homeslice1479 Yeah, i know. Hes great.

  • Hey, glad to hear that you liked the videos!

  • i found these videos to be very informative, i had no idea what strings to get for my bass. I am going to get GHS strings just because of this.

  • @Pantera5171 Yeah me to.
