Pastor Warren needs a few courses in apologetics. When Ch.Rose asked if Jesus was the only ticket to heaven and what it meant for billions of other religious people, Warren should have said: all religions have a point of exclusion. Christianity is not the only religion that has a point of exclusivity, and rather than being upset why there is only one way, who can't we we glad that God has provided a way, which is Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.

I think the upcoming issue in Christianity isn't so much the theological abberations common in the last few decades. Many pastors/writers use the bible for quotes and even have fundamental views doctrinally, but the message is still theologically vacuous ultimately. When you pull all the points together, it's more social theory using scripture than the "full counsel of God".
Why the need for countless thousands of "christian books", over 90% of which are admittedly of the self-help variety? We have convinced ourselves that the Holy Spirit's power is not mediated in and through His Word, but through our programs. TPDL came out years ago, and people seem to talk about how it's helped them. We are a self-directed therapeutic society. Imagine this stuff in the first century - the early church would have been absorbed into Rome's many religions if it did what we do.

Yes, but I don't think Warren is pushing a consumerist mentality. Warren talks a couple sentences later about Jesus telling his disciples to take up their crosses and follow him... the first stage is Jesus doing something for us (saving us from our sins). Then in gratefulness for this free gift we should serve God, taking up our cross and sacrificing for others.

Please remember, that although I understand that many people who support complete gay and abortion rights are mad for reasons that I don't necessarily agree with (but I do understand), that Rick has consistently reached out to Obama in the past. Big example is Rick inviting Obama to the AIDS summit at Saddleback last year. That was before the election, mind you. Despite their disagreements on a few key social issues, Rick showed him respect and agreed to disagree CIVILLY.

Excuse me, sir, but he did not say good deeds are the way to salvation. He didn't say ANYTHING other than Christ was the way to salvation. He made that 100% absolutely clear. So let me ask you this: what part do you DISAGREE with? Did you watch the video?
Warren says that good deeds are symptomatic of being saved, and gaining help in doing these good deeds from people who do not believe in us is not wrong, and the verse you quoted does not support it, nor your own failed reasoning.

I think the upcoming issue in Christianity isn't so much the theological abberations common in the last few decades. Many pastors/writers use the bible for quotes and even have fundamental views doctrinally, but the message is still theologically vacuous ultimately. When you pull all the points together, it's more social theory using scripture than the "full counsel of God".

We have convinced ourselves that the Holy Spirit's power is not mediated in and through His Word, but through our programs. TPDL came out years ago, and people seem to talk about how it's helped them. We are a self-directed therapeutic society. Imagine this stuff in the first century - the early church would have been absorbed into Rome's many religions if it did what we do.

Yes, but I don't think Warren is pushing a consumerist mentality. Warren talks a couple sentences later about Jesus telling his disciples to take up their crosses and follow him... the first stage is Jesus doing something for us (saving us from our sins). Then in gratefulness for this free gift we should serve God, taking up our cross and sacrificing for others.

Rick Warren is a member of the CFR (Council on foreighn relations ) it is an organization of trying to establish a One World Government or a NEW WORLD ORDER. He is a also a member of the World council Of Churches WHICH IS A GLOBAL BODY WORKING TOWARDS A ONE WORLD RELIGION.
He is working for the coming of the Antichrist's kingdom!

Rick Warren gives money to charities, which isn't very anti-christlike. As Jesus himself said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand". Warren's in the right house.

great show. nothing bad to say about either gentleman, just glad to see Jesus' name being mentioned, in respectful tones, and some basic gospel principles being talked about. would only
say that US policy, as any for nation state, is clearly not the epitome of Christ, the christian influence has had a limiting effect on the ambition and power seeking, that characterizes every other political ideology.

Warren is too practical. Too down to Earth. Too realistic in what scripture teaches. And that drives a lot of people up the wall. They like it obscure enough to do battle on a foggy battlefield of ideas.

Boyd is far more fresh and bold in his theology.Boyd lost 20% of his congregation when he wrote his book. He is not trying to be all things to all people. Whereas, Warren gained thousands when he wrote his book.I am from St. Paul and go to Boyd's church on occasion. He admits mistakes and apologizes publicly. You get the feeling that he values diversity even when he strongly disagrees on a personal level. It was said "Russ Limbaugh and Ted Kennedy would both be welcome"
