The text on this video is a lie. The cops were called to the library; they just didn't walk in and start carding people. Students are issued ID cards, and know that trespassers will be asked to leave, and arrested if they refuse. The guy was told to leave since he refused to identify himself as a student. When he didn't leave, the cops arrested him for Trespassing.... a perfectly legal charge. Then he resisted arrested, and the cops followed procedure for that too.
Sure, let's get rid of the Taser and go back to the 26-inch baton. Let's bring back all those broken bones and stitches the baton caused, and the Taser was designed to prevent. Yeah, but I seem to recall that before tazers came along, all but the most psycho cops were usually willing to wait and talk things out with a suspect first. Using a baton required a cop to get up close and personal. Nowadays, cops can obtain instant compliance by simply pressing a button, and not even worry about getting their uniforms dirty. Tazers may do less damage, but it's made them lazy and more quick to resort to using force.

The truth is most of these students are children with little to no real life experience and a limited knowledge of the law.
Receiving an education or having a degree does not always equal intelligence. About 1/3 of college grads skated through with less than a C average. Most of these College Grads couldnt figure out anything on their own. What I am referring to is their lack of real life experience at this point in their lives. Then he was "randomly" selected to have his ID checked again. He was told to show his ID or leave. He opted to leave. In the time it took to get his stuff, the cops came.

No, tasers have had their lethality proven, especially among lightweights. The chance of killing an adult male with a taser is relatively slim, assuming he's in good health, but this is never guaranteed. It is dangerous and absolutely unnecessary to use on someone who is compliant and/or immobilized.
Good thing he was neither compliant nor immobilized. And yes, tasers have risks. They are far less risky than using batons, or punches/kicks, or main force to force him into cuffs.

The text on this video is a lie. The cops were called to the library; they just didn't walk in and start carding people. Students are issued ID cards, and know that trespassers will be asked to leave, and arrested if they refuse. The guy was told to leave since he refused to identify himself as a student. When he didn't leave, the cops arrested him for Trespassing.... a perfectly legal charge. Then he resisted arrested, and the cops followed procedure for that too.

Yeah, but I seem to recall that before tazers came along, all but the most psycho cops were usually willing to wait and talk things out with a suspect first. Using a baton required a cop to get up close and personal. Nowadays, cops can obtain instant compliance by simply pressing a button, and not even worry about getting their uniforms dirty. Tazers may do less damage, but it's made them lazy and more quick to resort to using force.

Receiving an education or having a degree does not always equal intelligence. About 1/3 of college grads skated through with less than a C average. Most of these College Grads couldnt figure out anything on their own. What I am referring to is their lack of real life experience at this point in their lives. Most of these kids are there for the show. They will take a half truth from a stranger as pure gospel, and then they will add their own half truth to keep it going for entertainment. .

True Intelligence is a combination of several different areas, including education and life experience. This protest was just the flavor of the week, the following week there was a different one. What I find really hard to accept is, that authority - be it police or campus security, went through the last resort which was to taser this individual.
Surely all alternative measures were considered with dealing with this non-compliant rebel, and eventualy there must have been a physical altercation brought upon by the actions of the individual FIRST.
I'm not saying this is what happened, im saying this is the most probable reason why he got tasered.

Some seem to think the guy was actually doing something wrong. He had already shown his ID just to get into the library.
Then he was "randomly" selected to have his ID checked again. He was told to show his ID or leave. He opted to leave. In the time it took to get his stuff, the cops came.
He was walking out willingly when the cops grabbed him.
There were what 4-6 cops there, and NONE of them would give their badge numbers to the requesting students. Which they are REQUIRED to do.

No, tasers have had their lethality proven, especially among lightweights. The chance of killing an adult male with a taser is relatively slim, assuming he's in good health, but this is never guaranteed. It is dangerous and absolutely unnecessary to use on someone who is compliant and/or immobilized.

Used to imobilize the refusing individual so that officers can place the subject in custody. once in custody if no where near their respective cars, they can continuously taze the subject if they dont comply with the officers orders. If something happens we call the police, and if a policeman just walked into the library and tasered a student or anyone for that matter his ass would be fired. The only salient questions are: Did the ID rule apply to all students regardless of race, religion, creed, etc? Yes. Did Tabatabainejad know about the rules? Yep. Were the library admins applying a properly enacted school rule? Yep.

At that juncture, he had two choices. Comply & leave to get his ID. Or stay, and violate his student code of conduct & trespassing laws (because there is absolutely no question that the library admins were the proper authority designated responsibility for the library).
He was REPEATEDLY warned that if he did not leave, the police would be called to remove him.

He learned that indeed when the property authorities tell you to produce your ID or get out, you have to comply.
Had he left immediately when he didn't have his ID, there would have been no problem.
But typical of the breed he wanted to argue that the rules don't apply to him, and didn't try to leave until after he was under arrest.

I have Security on my School, and they do not say "Where yours ID" They never have to ask when your on Campus UNLESS there entering the Campus. if he was Only going ON the campus it would make sense, but he was in the library, THEY DO NOT NEED TO DO THAT.
