  • Would you call yourself a good man just because you follow the laws? World is in perish and America, taking petrols of Africa still not doing a very well project about them - just curing their wounds giving them food and leaving them be, temporary causes is petrol.

Still, you ignore it and live your life along with it, and say ''They shouldn't have born there, it's not my fault they are hungry'' It's not your fault , Global Warming or anything isn't it?

GO ON STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO! YOUR #1 !

  • I saw them and reel big fish lastnight. it was awesome

  • The music video for this song freaks the shit out of me.

  • First song I ever heard by Streetlight, but I'd say Mephisto's Cafe is my favorite song, with this song as a close second.

  • @TheFrickinPope This is also the first song I ever heard by streetlight.(:

  • @TheFrickinPope Even the Pope agrees, Streetlight writes incredible music.

  • @JenkinzFilmz Dang, who knew the pope listened to ska? I should convert to catholicism. :D

  • Streetlight Manifesto- sounds so good it can cure diseases!

  • man thiss shit is fucking wack!!!1

  • Fuck! I love blasting this when I'm in the Car!

  • woah 3 people missed the "like" button

  • hahah fuckin sweeeeeeet genre.. so energetic live..

  • im impressed with this song

  • this shit gets me goin!XD

  • FUCK YEAH SAK FTW STREETLIGHT FTFW ForTheFuckingWIN xD

  • A sped up version of start wearing purple?

  • The ska is Jamaican, have a lot influences of jazz and the reggae come from ska, bob marley played in Skatalites.

  • bob marley never played "in" the skatalites..just sang with them once on the song "simmer down"....

  • yeah, he was a wailer man!

  • I'm pretty sure this song is about the human race... but I'm pretty in love with it. Ska is supposed to be Jamacian, but some if their songs like this one and Everything Went Numb almost have a Mexican feel to them :)

  • nah man, reggae is more "jamaican" then ska, ska is much more jazzier

  • ah ok

  • reggee is a sub genre of ska 2 tone ska is more jazzy but your right all of originated from blues and african music ska was inspired by radio brodcasts from southern america like new orleans and carribian music

  • @synth77

The first generations of ska (first generations and two-tone) were also strongly influenced by R&B. Never forget the Rock and Blues. :D

  • @meemeesiko57 R&B Is Rhythm and Blues...

  • GO STREETLIGHT!

  • These guys take Ska, set it in a rocket launcher, and BLAST that shit way above the others. I love this band.

  • pretty sure they fall under the "fuckin sweeeeeeet" genre of music.

  • @rrrife For sure.

    Just...for sure. xD

  • @rrrife amen

  • ya this song does kick ass =p

  • fire.... i take it u dont play instruments.

all the instruments play in a same key so they all have a sound that syncs together. thats true for every song you hear.

  • you may be right party, but he does have a point they all sound awesome

  • I believe in the theory they are Ska, but I also believe they have a poetic tune, not just to the lyrics, but to the music, it seems like all the chords match up and sound identical and a rhythmic ring, its rather pleasing to the ears.

  • i believe it kicks major ass

  • @madstheglad quite

  • i don´t really care, i think streetlight manifesto is ska, but what the hell, it´s Damn awsome anyway, can´t we agree on that? :D

  • yes indeed!

  • Pretty sure they classify themselves as folk and ska. At least Tomas does. And people who say they aren't ska are stupid. They most certainly are ska, and are more than that, too. A band doesn't have to be just one genre.

  • i've been under the impression that this album has a lot to do with religion, politics and philosophy, i agree with IBSniper in ways for this song but i also get the impression that he's talking about the philosophy the majority of ppl live there lives by, to live a shallow material life, i think he may refer to maladies as aging and the need to constantly look youthful, its almost like were trying to play god by trying to hide the effects of time, (dying = aging)

  • the song fits the theme of the rest of the songs, religion, from what i interpret it just comes to an agnostic, perhaps even atheist message. "all the time we spent vaccinating this disease" its talking about all the foolish ways we lie to ourselves so we can achieve a supposed immortality. "now you're upset because you finally got the notion, that everything you have is spinning down the drain" the album is about how people waste their life on appealing to a religion. while we should be living.

  • @IBSniper See the music video >_>

  • Am I strange for seeing a zombie apocalypse in this song?

"Would you be impressed if I said that the dead would help us counting?"

    dead and doomed, etc.

multiple references to incurable diseases, etc.

"everything you had is spinning down the drain"

I get the other meaning too, but I just can't shake this one.

  • I think it's a metaphorical zombie apocalypse, if anything.

  • I looked around, I stood alone, I knew what I had to say, I said its not, my, FAUULT.

  • At that point is says, It's all my fault. He finally realizes at the end it is his fault.

  • The fact that you spelled ska 4 times with a "C" just shows you don't know what you're talking about. Fast paced punk music with a large horn section with major to minor bar chords is SKA. Sure they have different types of songs but they all have ska elements. Led Zeppelin was a hard rock band and they had blues songs, they weren't a blues band.

  • ok how is this not ska????!!!!!!!! do explain. if they are not ska what are they? you might be looking at it the other way. just cuz some songs arent ska doenst automatically mean they arent. this is ska. thats it.

and they are very anti suicide better place better time is about the guy pleading with his gf or whoever not to kill herself!!!

really, you dont seem to know very about them... no offense or anything but im just sayin.

  • OH i take offence, i know just as much or more about kalnokys music then anybody else. and yes i know they are against suicide, but the majority of the songs arent about suicide....and whats the big deal i dont call them a ska band cause their much more than that... i can give you a whole list of ska bands and not one will sounds like streetlight. face it their way more than just ska... mabe they were called a ska band when the first cd came out but now they are much more... keabey dont count.

  • i understand what your saying now hes saying that while they are a ska band he wants to say that there so good that they are beyond it not that it isnt ska it just is so good that it surpasses the awesomeness of ska

  • i dont really think streetlights ska either.... some songs are sca... but i think streetlight as many different genres in them. so i woulnt call them a sca band, cause not even half the songs are sca, but ya alot of them are.......but would you impressed is not a sca song

  • this is defiantly ska 0.0

  • streetlight is most definately third wave ska

  • alright, im not trying to start a argument, and im not trying to be a dick, im just voicing my opinion, and i have too ask this question, do you know what ska is? its a style of music that is greatly influenced by (and not only by) jazz and reggae, third wave ska is ska that is greatly influenced by PUNK, in my opinion that is what streetlight manifesto is.

  • umm streetlight manifesto is ska punk. fool!

  • and if you knew what third wave ska was you would know that is basically the definition of third wave ska, dumb-ass

  • omg! people are stupid! whats all this about emo?!?!?! cmon! its ska! simple as that! uh oh! a ska band that wrote a song that isnt about parties and friends and stuff..... who cares! he is a good song writer! and ska is ska! no matter what the song is about.

  • SKA

    SKA

    SKA

    :D

  • Wait?

Are you guys saying streetlight is emo?

Because there songs are anti-suicide (Most of them) and I haven't heard one yet positively about suicide.. all negatively about it.

  • nononono.

    its skaaaa.

    not emo.

  • I know, That is what I was saying...

  • theres only one song against suicide

  • Wt?

Do you even read the lyrics of the song?

Almost every song on the album is about suicide, then against it.

  • not really, in a sense ya, but the only song Really about being against suicide is heres to life... all the other songs are more about not wasting your life on religion, cause you could be wrong. or not wasting your life in general. i cant think of one song agaist suicide exsept heres to life.

  • "But don't take your life

'Cause it's all that you've got

You'd be better off just up and leaving

If you don't think they will stop"

Better place Better Time is one right off my head.

I guess it doesn't really matter, I wont reply to another post (It's generally a waste of time) about the topic, but feel free to reply to this post, just keep in mind any questions in it wont be answered by me.

  • yes, a better place a better time is a against suicide song....... i completly forgot, but ya thats really it (i think) any way the point is, not all streetlight songs are against suicide, but not one of them is for it. they all have their own meaning... even if it is simmular to other meanings that they have.

  • hey guys of youtube! (and girls)

i was doing a survey throughout all major social websites. question: please answer(reply)

DO SKA KIDS/PEOPLE GENERALLY HAVE A DISLKE FOR SCENE/EMO KIDS?

its for a summer school project, not to do hurt anyone.

    thank you !!!! =]

  • for me no. but thats because i grew up with emo and got into ska about 4 years ago. for others it may be different.

  • thank you for your participation!

  • Not a big fan of emo people in general, not trying to be a jerk.

  • thank you for answering :)

  • Most of the guys I know that listen to ska have gone out with scene girls, so I'm guessing no. I don't have a problem with them, anyway.

  • thank you!

  • on every video of sm people are talkin about what genre they are. who cares its just good music

  • yeah. btw its punk/ska haha everyone should know that. i mean there's no way to mistake it.

  • O hot damn

  • nice call, rotten hamburger! (:

  • 112 rating! all 5 star

  • streetlight is just their own genre

  • just throwing it out there, this bands pages seem to have a lot less jackasses than you usually see; way to go guys

  • cause streetlight fans are generally mature individuals. the jackasses go for death metal and pop.

  • Lol, what? Pop, yes, but deathmetal is a very intricate type of music, I don't understand.

  • many metal heads like one kind of metal and hate every other kind. specially in the -core genre's.

  • oh, I agree, that is very dumb, I think being single-minded about any music is kinda dumb.

  • indeed. open minded is the way to be, you enjoy things so much more.

  • Yes, I am glad we agree. It also makes you a better musician (if you are a musician). And yeah, if you are open minded, you can always find something new that is great. I only discovered these guys about a month ago.

  • I am a musician, i play drums. the one thing i love is always having a bass to fall to, i can from Wagner to this to Amon Amarth without skipping a beat

  • Haha, sick man. I am a musician also. I play guitar, a little percussion and do vocals, and also write and compose. But yes, the diversity makes you so much better.

  • what kind of lyrics do you write? I'm one of the biggest lyrical contributors in my band. mine tend to be emo unfortunately, or very very violent

  • That's interesting actually. Most of my lyrics are very political. I get most of my inspiration from current political events, such as the Iraq war, etc. I am an anarchist, so there's a lot of fire in the lyrics also, haha. Most of my stuff is folky though. I also right a lot about overcoming an obstacle, or even just relaxing, I tend to run around quite a bit, but most of my songs have incoherent political reasoning.

  • cool. we should trade lyrics sometime, if your interested message me your email. you seem like the kind of guy that makes interesting conversations.

  • you guys are crazy, im a bass player and all the lyrics i write are about food and chillin and playing music lol

  • what kind of genre is this called?

    its sooooo different!

  • it's not softcore lounge jazz its ska

  • It's not exactly ska.

Alot of people consider it ska, but it's only semi- ska. It deviates from ska a bit. Listen to what the trumpet player is doing at like 1:37. That almost sounds like flamenco. Plus, they don't have a whole lot of two toned guitar. Ska definantly has a hell of alot more reggae feel to it.

  • this is 3rd wave... two tone is 2nd wave... and 1st wave was originally jamacian so dats where the whole reggae feel to it comes from... i think=P=]

  • I know I'm being a nit picking jerk, but I dance Flamenco, and I gotta say that at 1:37 (and the rest of the song for that matter) sounds far more salsa than flamenco. But yeah, the point you were making is absolutely true!

  • whats funny is all of you actually thought i was serious

  • No, it's not actually ska. It sounds really ska, but still isn't. Its kind of a half ska thing going on, but still isn't full ska, it has a bit of a Spanish sound to it.

  • Isn't it called third degree ska or something like that? My friend explained it before, but is that what you're talkin about?

  • Its 3rd wave ska

  • just...nvm...

  • It's third wave; close lol

  • third wave ska. basically punk/ska

  • are you a R-Tard this is Ska!

  • its called ska and it kicks ass

  • giveittomegiveittomegiveittomegiveittome!

  • amazing amazing amazing song it is stuck in my head and i always sing it at school and everyones like wat r u singing?

  • same here lol

  • so tru

  • This song reminds me of this kid that died in my school, he got hit by two cars, first one hit him, the second one ran him over. rip patrick 15

  • Whoa, that's just awful and sad. :(

  • the album is about a person being stuck between relgion and atheism and whether neither are right. Hence the album title somewhere in between.

  • Hmm i thought they were atheist but i hoped not, cuz i love this band and religion wont stop me from but i ma christian myself. Nethertheless...ROCK ON STREETLIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • are you some sort of religious bullshitter, stop talking about it and go pray to god,

people here dont care if its anti religious

stop forcing your views on other people and go do something constructive

  • um, I didn't write the lyrics for the album, hoss

  • Man that really sad... Hope he rests in peace...

  • yes streetlight manifesto, i would be

  • Streetlight is definately my favorite of all bands.

  • ear raped...that's it...

  • God the bass line is so awesome and as a bass player i really wish it was louder so I could copy it.
