There are 3 fins, 2 horizontal and one vertical just like a fish or even an aircraft. I am a pilot and aircraft mechanic so I understand technology so what happens if one of the 3 fins break? You'll lose stability just like an aircraft if it were to lose a vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizer or a wing.

ok if we intend to use aero words... it has no fins... the top one is an engine snorkel (granted while inverted it would operate as a dorsal providing a counter productive rolling moment) the other two technically are ailerons as the body acts as the lifting surface.

If one breaks. reduced control authority, an irritating yawing moment, reduced handling qualities. Static stability remains unaffected. x

I friend of mine was going to build something like that years ago. He was way to obsessive in thinking about it he never even constructed a single part. Just a big 1/1 scale paper silhouette. I guess he snoozed so he lossed. A $50,000 loss per boat more specifically.

The fin on the top is a snorkel once its under water it shuts and you don't get any fresh air. So you're forced to surface a few seconds, but i presume as deep as you can get in those few second.
