mallia sang on many p funk jams she first sang on chocolate city even after she left parlet she was loyal to george she sang on his 80's stuff. can't blame george for everything the man had lots of groups and personalioties to deal with you try holding a group together this long as long as george did. people had drug issues, lawsuits, families, I'd a went crazy trying to juggle a 100 people in a group george was clearly in over his head.
The Devil runs the industry....we're actually lucky to get whatever golden gems shine through all the eveil. Shout out to Satan for destroying familys dependant on the industry and killing off all the great entertainers and stiflieng all of the talent that god manifests on this plane of existence.
@erickliddell Folks give the devil too much credit for things; if the industry is crooked, it's because the folks who run it are crooked. In fact, there is NO industry that isn't touched by corruption, because all you need to start corruption is a lot of money...PEACE.
@BigBlackRod Ur' close minded...real talk i hated wen ppl say thng. lik' dat. ppl don't have to give satan too much credit. && how wud u kno' anythng. about satan if the Lord & his son didn't tell us first. He tells us ALL Gen. to-Rev. duh!! he comes for no other reason but to well.....you kno' da' rest. that saying is enough! many is call but a few is choosen. read between da' lines 75% of us is not gon to the pie in the sky Ps. start reading the Bible
Did any of the members of Parlet or the Brides live in Philly? I taught a student who told me that her mother was a part of one of the groups, but I could never confirm it. Just curious to know if one member was living that close to me back in the day. After reading the comments, I am inclined to go back and really listen to Parlet's muisc. I only knew "Don't Ever Stop."
does anywhere know where I can get a copy of don't ever stop ?? i have the album but they only ever printed the cd overseas, that was my favorite song
Man, don't nobody beat Debbie Wright... she was beau-ti-ful and funky to boot... Wish I knew where's she's at now... she deserves much love and mucho respect.
Wrong M2837!if you or any one want the real story call me Jim Wright Debbie's brother 4048490091 I was there every one in Parlet & band had no previuos history with p funk other than Debbie, myself we brought them in the family other than the Queen & she brought DS.
I'm ready and want to post "Never Buy Texas From a Cowboy" by Brides of Funkenstein - The problem is that the song is to long in minutes. Youtube does not allow enough time to post the "Never Buy Texas From a Cowboy". The song is approximately 15 minutes and 15 seconds long.
Ay, the Parlet & Brides stuff is amazing. Its all stuff that is going to continue to grow in popularity as people discover for themselves and its all the more personal for that reason. 'You're Leaving' one of the greatest songs & recordings performed ever imo.
George produced the best spinoff lp from any act outside of Parliament/Funkadelic and Bootsy in 1980. That lp was Play Me or Trade Me. For whatever reason I don't think Casablanca had any real interest in pushing them like they did Parliament. Tax rightoff? It was more or less GC's project. It happens with a lot of female spinoffs from James Brown to Prince.
A lot of things remain and will remain unanswered and not real clear as to why they happened and why young adult women would allow what happened to go on. I know what happened because Candy, Jackie, Rose, Gloria, Susan were my friends and don't forget about LB. I love Debbie. No disrespect intended and I do mean to call you and speak with you. You all participated in willingly or unwillingly for whatever reasons.
The Parlet & The Brides were truly two phenomenal groups. It is unfortunate that they did not receive the support and attention, groups of their calibre deserve. This may be due to George's well documented substance abuse. Also George had become overwhelmed in production deals. Recently, a series of cds called Funk Soul Sisters have been released. I hope that some of their music is included in a new release. How can you omit The Parlet or Brides, when you are show casing Funk Soul Sisters?
Damn shame to hear what singer's & musicians go through in the music industry. Then again, "when you dance with the devil, be ready to pay the piper". It was good to see this minor interview with Parlet.
I have all of Parlet and The Brides. I think "Invasion of the Booty Snatchers" had the most soul out of all three albums. They could've been big. "Don't Ever Stop Loving Me" and "You're Leaving" are really rich and funky ballads. It's a shame they got lost in all the George Clinton craziness.
mallia sang on many p funk jams she first sang on chocolate city even after she left parlet she was loyal to george she sang on his 80's stuff. can't blame george for everything the man had lots of groups and personalioties to deal with you try holding a group together this long as long as george did. people had drug issues, lawsuits, families, I'd a went crazy trying to juggle a 100 people in a group george was clearly in over his head.

It's a shame that Parlet didn't get to record more music. I think they would have been a smash with better promotion. Great interviews!
