I have to say that it was a great idea of Smt. Mamata Banerjee.... A stroke of genius to fend off the extreme competition from the low cost airlines and volvo's on some routes. I think she is a much better Railway Minister than Mr Laloo, who was more popular because of his histrionics!

@therebellionwithin : Sure might be , I am not supporting laloo here , I am just saying that bannerjee is no good , she spend crores for a railway museum , when that fund could have used wisely , take the state of Kerala and TN , There are only 3 daily trains from MAS to TVC out of which two are via Kerala and , this sector has a very heavy rush of passengers , atleast one daily train from MAS to TVC could have been put to clear the rush.

@therebellionwithin , the Trivandrum Rajdhani could have been upgraded to LHB rake, the present rakes are in poor condition , see the condition of Kerala express , it still runs on the age old rakes while the other imp trains are upgraded with the new and improved ones , Kerala is the longest running daily train in the country . come to TN , MAS -NDLS is another busy sector which has just two daily trains Tamil Nad and GT ,

But, it will take time to be launched as it it need special Tracks.

Sealdah Duronto Express is the second fastest train in Indian Railways after Bhopal shatabdi.

For ur kind info, Bhopal Shatabdi runs at 150 to 161 kmph.

& 2259/2260 sealdah Duronto touches 140 kmph or may be more..

actually duronto is more or lessa rajdhani, rajdhnai is taking twenty eight hours from chennai to hazzrat nizamuddin , it taking one hour less, thts it, and it is gonna take technical halts at vijayawada, bhopal etc

Well i am sorry too..!!

Rajdhani was nonstop train when it was introduced but, they were dismissed by commercial halts..!!

Secondly, Shatabdis are for short distances & also not non-stop trains now. They are also dismissed..!!

So, Duronto till now have no commercila halts & so it can be said the only & first nonstop train in IR..!!

Sorry to nitpick, but Duranto is not the first non-stop train on IR.  Both the Howrah and Mumbai Rajdhanis used to run non-stop (i.e. no commercial halts) when introduced. Then came a few truly non-stop trains such as Kanpur and Chandigarh Shatabdis.

Guys See the GZB WAP 7 # 30249 LOCO it has BOTH Panto's DOWN when he enter the Platform some prob thats y LP apply emergency brake. And Speed is 130 max not 140.

Excuse me sir, the video is among the best RF compilations ever, more so because the train is so new, and the music is perfect, BUT, the maximum speed of the coaches is 130 and NOT 140!

@rajendranatha : Not every duronto is sucessful , on some routes it is full , whereas there are a lot of routes , where duronto had been on run for a while and were stopped coz of running almost empty , good example is HWH PUI and CBE duronto .
