if you want a real fat sound on the virus TI load a patch and open the software and click FX2 the go to the lower left section of the page were it says vocoder . switch that to oscillator :) this will turn the filter section off but sounds amazing
Whats the difference between the TI Polar and the TI Keyboard? The Keyboard has 61 semi-weighted keys, are there differences in the functionality or sound? They have the exact same price...
@DrLight9 So true lol. I have to admit, I actually did laugh out loud when I read that. There's so many Moog demos of pretentious muso fuckwits playing some shitty basslines with a sound not too different from a fart as you said
I have a serious question because i don't want to be sued or anything like that, wold you mind if i used the sound of you playing warbell HS for one of my projects?
Hello. I am buying my first synth, should I buy a keyboard amp or better a mixer and some monitors like I have seen in almost every youtube video?? can I connect the synth directly to the monitors?? I will apreciate your help
A keyboard amp or powered PA speakers are best for playing keyboards in a band. For home use, powered studio monitors are fine. You could probably connect a single synthesizer directly to a set of speakers with the right cable(s), but it would be best to use a small mixer.
no it was a good answer..... i have Yamaha S90es... thinking of adding... motif rack xs....... i do have several soft synths... OMNISPHERE... SONIK SYNTH.... MIROSLAV PHILHARMONIK....M-TRON PRO... ANALOG FACTORY...DRUMCORE.... why is it romplers seem to 'react' better...... odd......
Sorry for such a pedestrian answer, but if I could only have one electronic keyboard it would likely be a new Yamaha Motif XS. Ultimately, much of the music I've composed over the years has been centered around "rompler" sounds - pianos, acoustic guitars, woodwinds, percussion, bells, etc. While I love "true" synthesizers such as the Virus TI and Moog LP, and use lots of their sounds in my stuff, fundamentally my style doesn't revolve around the more "electronic" nature of these instruments.
Do you program any of your own sounds? Because what's the point in using sound synthesizers if it's all preset sound use? I want to hear your sounds. :)
Yes, I do some sound programming, but when I include them in videos it just results in lots of emails and requests for the patches. So it is just easier to demo the sounds that come with the instrument, because that's what people will get if/when they actually buy the keyboard.
All that being said, the TI ships with more than 2,400 presets (that are infinitely tweakable), and I, for one, often prefer to spend my time actually playing the synth than programming sounds from scratch.
I tried messing with the vocoder on my TI Snow and was never able to get very good results out of it. The Eiosis ELS Vocoder (software plugin) pretty much blows the doors off the vocoders built into VA synths that I've tried.
I do still like the TI sound in general, though. Filter sweeps have such a great juicy "sizzle" to them. Some softsynths like u-he Zebra may surpass the Virus in terms of the depth of their voice architecture, but the TI has a very distinctive character.
i agree with davidvector, softsynths have so much synthesis options, but i have never been vastly impressed by their sound...i still prefer hardware digital over software digital: i prefer roland/korg/yamaha/virus over Eastwest, Native Instruments, GForce, Arturia, etc.
whats the difference between this and a macbook pro with tons of software? this thing is what $3,000? must be real powerful...having grown up in the 80's, i would def see nintendo and sega sounds for thier own right...if a sound lacks analog beef, that can have its own character.
Thanks for the info, as always. What would you suggest for a strong vocoder (I want to replace my MicroKORG, and I'm considering the Nord Modular G2).
Sorry, but I don't have much advice here. The only synth I ever owned that had a vocoder was a Novation K-Station. It was a fun little synth and the vocoder was cool, but I don't have anything to compare it with.
It has a vocoder. It is in the effect section. (As the manual says.) I've got a Virus B. It has vocoder too. I made a few records with that vocoder, but it's not realy my taste. The one in my Nord Micro Modular is much better.

Just watched all the demos and I'm very impressed with your showcase! Access should be paying you mate, because I doubt anyone will watch these and not want to buy one... Putting the "total integration" aside, just concentrating on the sounds and ability to reproduce analogue sound as accurately as possible, is the Virus the best VA? What's your opinion of its competitors? How accurately can you reproduce the sounds of the Juno range or the DX7?
you know though, analogue still will always sound like analogue, but sometimes i do like the power that digital synths wield. You don't have to be emulating an analog synthesizer to get a good sound. I love analog synths, but i think we should see digital and analog as separate things with their own abilities.
The best one I am aware of is the Access site itself. Buried in there somewhere are lots of patch libraries created for the earlier models, but are still usable on the TI as well.
2:34 -> PadMe. That's what I call a sound.

All effects on the TI in these videos, including delay, are "in the keyboard." The TI features delay, reverb, chorus, phaser, EQ, distortion, etc.

Delay and Reverb per part...
Each of the 16 parts in multimode can have it's own, dedicated delay and reverb. In other words, there are now 16 delays and 16 reverbs.
