Wow, awesome job Tom!. Really professional. Kudos to the actors too. Just one minor thing, they looked at the moon one direction, and the light on their face was the other side, lol. But everything else was super! This could be a feature length film.
@vivaladamm Not exactly. Most of the sky replacement shots involved rotoscoping out the actors, though it some cases it was possible to just feather down an overlay from the top of the screen, blending it with the real sky before hitting the treetops. This is why in some shots it seems like the sun is just in the process of setting. I think videocopilot's very first tutorial is on sky replacement, if you're curious.

@Boony2000 The original script, and the first cut of the film, was a good 15ish minutes longer than what you see here, and the moon played much more prominently in the story. Even the completed DVD release of the film is 3 to 5 minutes longer than this version, which was pared down to fit on youtube - and again, the moon is central to the story in those other versions.
That was EXCELLENT!! My only criticsm is that I wish you had a more closeup shot of his injured foot to emphasis that he lost his shoe. Even though it's there, the viewer could possibly miss it because there were other things going on in the shot. But that's a really small thing. Great job, I really enjoyed this.
Very nice movie, I liked it alot!

Were you inspired by Stephen King? This video reminds me of "The Raft". (1987 - Creepshow 2)

@shortcut123 Maybe subconsciously - I've read that story, though never saw Creepshow 2. I based this script off a short story I wrote in 1999.

I thought this was good, but the day for night effect was a bit distracting. Other than that and a few little details, I thought this was good.

I thought it was awsome.
Now I want to try shooting day for night.
Do you then use the blue sky as a green screen and add the star pics?

The day for night conversion is really obvious... why does it have to be at night anyways?

@icemaneu I know... gators also don't look or behave like that or live in cold Canadian lakes, hence it's not a gator. It's a movie character :)
