He has a very good voice, but, he doesn't know how to use it. His speaking voice is incredibly resonant, but, he doesn't use the classical vocal techniques of diaphragmatic breathing, abdominal contraction, note placement in the head, etc., when singing to really bring out the resonance in his voice. He's singing in what I assume is, having heard his head voice, his passaggio. W/ proper training, he'll be able to sing comfortably in this range w/ out sounding shrill or yelling.
