This really reminded me of my childhood in London during the blitz and as an evacuee. My mother took us to stay with grandmother in Mevagissey, Cornwall. I remember the fishing boats caught pilchards. I particularly remember one night when we were back in London. We had been in my grandmother's Anderson shelter and went back to the house to use the bathroom. We had a problem getting back in the shelter as my grandmother was very plump and got stuck in the doorway opening.
