Tajiks living in Uzbekistan and Uzbeks living in Tajikistan are generally bilingual and do not have any issues with speaking the official language, but other nations who arrived in Central Asia during the soviets refuse to learn the local language and get offended when one talks to them in Uzbek or Tajik...

I am addressing to everyone. If there are many Tajiks in Uzbekistan and that most like to speak Persian, then why Tajik is not an official language? If Tajik is not an official language, then the ethnic Tajik population must be small in Uzbekistan.
That's not necessarily the case. For example, Iran is home to about 24 million Azarbaijanis who speak Azari as a first language. That doesn't necessarily mean that Azari has to be an official language along with Persian. Official languages are derived from how many people have knowledge of the language. In this case, almost all Iranians speak Persian (not Azari), therefore Persian was made the official language. The same theory applies to Uzbekistan.
It doesn't mean their population is small. But it DOES mean that their language is spoken to a lesser extent (minority). I'm pretty sure that all Uzbeks speak Turkish (even the Tajiks) but the amount of people (both Uzbeks and Tajiks) who speak Farsi, is much less. I hope these examples of mine have clarified any misunderstandings.
We all know that many Tajiks like speaking their Tajik language. The Persian language is widely spoken in the cities of Samarkand and Bukhara. I am saying if there is a large population of Tajiks in Uzbekistan, then they would push the Uzbek government to make the Tajik, an official language.

Birodam, I might be out on a limb here, but Uzbek is the official language of Uzbekistan is it not? I mean Russian is co-official due to the 65 years or so of soviet rule. Aside from that, it'll take equally as much time for Russian to slowly lose ground and disappear. Although a majority of them designate themselves as "tajiks", a small minority consider themselves Uzbeks(particularly those who adopted Turkish over generations and forgot their Farsi mother-tongue).

About Azeris. Yes, a few are Mongoloid or a mixture. But mostly they are not. I dont know exactly what Azeris are but there is a very strong Persian and Aryan streak in them, despite the mixture with mongoloids and caucasians. Language is not everything. Turkmens are different - they are predominantly Turkic, and I don't hate them, but I don't much admire them either.

The fact that it is "official" isn't really helping much to make Uzbek language a genuine State language. It is unfortunately remaining mainly as a household language.
Tajiks living in Uzbekistan and Uzbeks living in Tajikistan are generally bilingual and do not have any issues with speaking the official language, but other nations who arrived in Central Asia during the soviets refuse to learn the local language and get offended when one talks to them in Uzbek or Tajik...

That's not necessarily the case. For example, Iran is home to about 24 million Azarbaijanis who speak Azari as a first language. That doesn't necessarily mean that Azari has to be an official language along with Persian. Official languages are derived from how many people have knowledge of the language. In this case, almost all Iranians speak Persian (not Azari), therefore Persian was made the official language. The same theory applies to Uzbekistan.

It doesn't mean their population is small. But it DOES mean that their language is spoken to a lesser extent (minority). I'm pretty sure that all Uzbeks speak Turkish (even the Tajiks) but the amount of people (both Uzbeks and Tajiks) who speak Farsi, is much less. I hope these examples of mine have clarified any misunderstandings.

Birodam, I might be out on a limb here, but Uzbek is the official language of Uzbekistan is it not? I mean Russian is co-official due to the 65 years or so of soviet rule. Aside from that, it'll take equally as much time for Russian to slowly lose ground and disappear. But what's real interesting is that immediately after independence, all the Central Asian republics were quick to establish their languages as the priority. (Russian= only for business/government usage.

Although a majority of them designate themselves as "tajiks", a small minority consider themselves Uzbeks(particularly those who adopted Turkish over generations and forgot their Farsi mother-tongue).

And infact, the Turks of China (as well as Kyrgyztan) were shown to be closer to the Mongols (not Chinese) just as the Turks of Kazakhstan were shown to hover somewhere between Russians and Mongols. Uzbeks and Turkomans also even Tajiks are not Iranian, they are TURKIC. I saw the DNA proof of Turkic blood line, which shows Iranians may b mixed but Turkic blood line is cleaner. We had some effect from Chinese and Mongol DNA structures but the MAJOR effect is TURKIC not irani. Iranians r so mixed because they ruled by Arabs,Mongols and Turks for a long time so they lost their identity.

About Azeris. Yes, a few are Mongoloid or a mixture. But mostly they are not. I dont know exactly what Azeris are but there is a very strong Persian and Aryan streak in them, despite the mixture with mongoloids and caucasians. Language is not everything. Turkmens are different - they are predominantly Turkic, and I don't hate them, but I don't much admire them either.

plapukay. I agree that this song is wonderful. In fact, I am even starting to like Uzbek Turkic. I can feel a very strong Persian spirit in Sherali Jurayev and his musicians. It is incredible how these Uzbeks are cultutally Persian and act that way, and even their Turkic accent is Persian. I feel sad that you cannot quite recognize your roots. But I agree that the musicians are very arttful and lovely.

I can't remember where I saw 40%, but it was the high estimate of Westerners. Wikipedia says 15-30% ... although official figures are much lower.

To discuss whether he is Uzbek or Tajik, why not read history first? By the way, there are Tajiks who look like Uzbeks (more Asian/Turkic) and it is hard to say what they are at first glance. Uzbeks/Turks have mixed with Persians and Arabs (as known from our dear history), so they have lost their very Asian look.:) As for the point that this song is more Tajik, it is because Uzbek language has many Persian words (not Tajik)! Also, no offense but what is the origin of the Tajik language?
