@HYPEROSITY101 There are previous comments that point fixes about that (use Japanese locale and reinstall UTAU -better solution- or use only romaji voicebanks -not that good-) and there are a pair of annotations in the video that try to give a pair of solutions, too.
But you could also check
watch?v=wW_Y3qHoVQA

I seem to have a similar problem... I Created a midi track on MixCraft, and exported it, and the only option for exporting midis is "MIDI file Type 1". But when I try to open UTUA, it gives the same error of "Running status is not supported", but it DOES open the midi, only partially. I mean, the beginning of it is imported correctly, but not all the notes. I already tried to open such midi in a editing program, and it opens normally...
@tady159 I can replicate the issue but I wasn't able to find why that happens or a way to fix it directly with Mixcraft, sorry. I wonder if it's because I use v5.0.130 and it has a bug on that part. What is your Mixcraft version?
Anyway, doing the process shown in this video (using the freeware Music Studio Producer) on that midi created with Mixcraft made it work correctly so you can always do this extra step at the end until you find a true fix.
Is it possible to import the music part of the midi into UTAU? Like, you know, the music that would be in the background as your UTAU sings? Because I don't know how to make a song with music in it, and I barely know how to make a song with just my UTAU's voice! (Just saying) Do you know of any tutorials like that? Ah, I'll receive a hate reply for this, I'm sorry.
@SweetVivian96 If you want to use the audio from the MIDI, the easiest way is to transform that midi into a wav/mp3 and mix the tracks normally with something like Audacity or REAPER.
A good conversor for midi to mp3 online is hamienet"."com / midi2mp3
You need to render the vocals of UTAU using "Project"->"Render wav File..." ((L)then (S)).
You can see tutorials of mixing just googling "How to Mix Audio Tracks audacity" or look "[Tutorial] Mixing Vocals into Instrumentals" here in youtube.
@xPoisonCookiie What is what is giving that issue, UTAU or MSP?
MSP sometimes just refuses to work for some people around.
But if it's UTAU, are you using import ust? Using Open is for ust.
And have you Japanese locale? Maybe you installed/uncompressed UTAU without it and defoko is broken? If so, check your voice folder and delete the voicebanks that are in mojibake. And finally set a romaji voicebank as default like stated in:
tinyurl(dot)com/66dtkla ((change (dot) by a point))
@xPoisonCookiie I'm sorry I don't think I can help you. It must be some kind of Windows compability issue but it worked for Windows 7 users before so i have no idea where is the issue.
An alternative freeware program for midi is Anvil Studio that works very well for all windows... but it's not that easy to mode1 like MSP.
You open the midi in Anvil and delete all the tracks except for the vocals and save that midi. Import the new midi in the newest Audacity and export the midi so it may work.
@clebraity Look inside the folder where you uncompressed msp. Does it have some folders -called "imd", "plugtem", etc- in there? If not it's because your un-zipper program doesn't recognize folders correctly and uncompressed all the files in the same place. Get another un-zipper or configure the options to uncompress them correctly.
Does the midi iun tinyurl(dot)com/3h8dfrg -chage (dot) by a point- run correctly for you? If that midi works, it's the midi you want to use being broken.
Hi i have the newer version of Utau, and i'm trying to convert a song to a midi. yes. anyway i followed your instuctions to the note up to the part where it is imported to UTAU its self and it wont import. it says bad name or file number. APpend doesnt allow me to open a midi, it just wants UST. can you give me some help? or maybe tell me what version your UTAU is so i may download it?
@Moontheblueneko You probably installed UTAU without English locale and your default voicebank is a mojibake defoko. In the tutorial Shizu was made the default so the midi uses it.
Get any normal romaji voicebank and make it the default one like explained in
tinyurl(dot)com/66dtkla ((change (dot) by a point as youtube dislikes direct linking)
The other (and preferable) option is to redownload UTAU and install it with Japanese locale so you get a correctly installed default voicebank.
I already know how to do all this but ummm... the midi I am using, it goes really high then really low on notes and it is making me mad because my utau doesn't sound like that.
@1coolgirl111 It could be a problem related to a faulty voicebank as default. Let me suggest you to try one of the two tricks given through annotations after 4:58 .
Also is your midi a valid one? In 2:53 you can see some coloured squares (that are -kinda- the notes of each track). If your midi lacks those it could be the midi not being a valid usable one (and instead something weird not midi like a .mp3 renamed as .mid). Does it sound like a midi when you play it with a external program?
@kheiisan If you mean a voicebank that it can be used in a not Japanese locale, probably the best place is utau.wikia.com
Romaji encoded UTAUloids is what you look for. If the files are in hiragana you can't use them without that very useful but sometimes impossible change of locale.
I did everything that you told me to in the vid, but in my utau it still comes up as something like "bad file name or number". In the midi program when I import a midi I want to use it works but doesn't make any sound... I'm so confused... @.o
@orangesagekk Actually, that's a problem coming from your computer not being in Japanese locale and the default voicebank being defoko with mojibake (mojibake are weird characters). The problem coming from a wrong midi is "Running status is not supported".
In the video Shizu Sogone was the default voicebank and she worked because she hasn't those wrong names of her wav files in my computer. A fix could be to choose your working UTAU the default one and deleting the voicebanks with mojibake.
@orangesagekk I don't know how to set as default "a" instead of "あ" (you see it as "?" for the not Japanese locale), sorry.
A fast solution is to select all the notes and use "a a a a ..." as the lyric box (double click on it to extend it). Around 5:35 you can see how I copy-paste "aaaa..." to make that fast change of "?" ("aaaa..." no longer works, you must use a space after each note with the new UTAU versions, like "na ni wa de su ...")
@chicaanime11 Bueno, sólo usé un parche parcial para pasar algunos textos al inglés.

@KazeNoSano Actually, I used only a partial patch to translate UTAU to English. Maybe soon there will a release with full English but for now they're just rumours.
You can get that patch from two places. I like more the 1st but I'll tell both as they're slightly different. Both have the instructions.
1.From the channel of "mianaito" here in youtube. I have a link to it in my account description if you can't find it.
2.From the UTAU wiki. Just google: "UTAU wiki:UTAU GUI Translation - UTAU wiki".
I have some problems. I already did the midi import and else, but whenever I clicked play a black tab appears. it said "the system cannot find the path specified". after that, it plays without any sound.
ok i was wondering if you could help me with this,

@YumuHanto Well, it's suppossed to be that way. If you want to change the instrument I think the easiest way is to open that midi with a midi sequencer and change it there (this Music Studio Producer works, but it's not very intuitive how to do it).
I think what you want is to get the original singing. For that you have to do is go to "Project"->"Render wav File...". That will save a .wav with the UTAU singing. Then you can use Audacity or Reaper (or other) to mix it with the instrumental.
@irei1as Also, listen to the wav once done. UTAU in "romaji" computers can sometimes don't render some notes correctly and they will sound too loud in a broken way.
To fix that, in UTAU, select the broken note, right click, "Clear Cache", and play the note. Repeat until the note is broken no more. When it sounds ok, you can render the wav correctly.
HEY GUYS ! i found for the one who still have the " Bad message " Please click append or the 5th option and load you MIDI file, you will have the " Good message" !

. . . well this doesn't help the "Bad File Name or Number" problem (really hoping it would)
So, do you know how to get the "Bad File Name or Number"
To go away when Importing MIDI's?? *hopeful Hopeful*

@irei1as And, finally, what's your operative system? Some people doesn't seem to be able to use this freeware. Maybe your computer can't handle it.
If this is the case... bad luck. Another way to change the midis into usable ones by UTAU:
-Get "Anvil Studio" and delete all the tracks of the midi except for the one you want and save that new midi with only that vocal track.
-Import that midi with only vocals with "Audacity" and then export the midi. That new midi is usable by UTAU.

Then you can use Audacity or Reaper (or other) to mix it with the instrumental.
irei1as 1 year ago
@irei1as Also, listen to the wav once done. UTAU in "romaji" computers can sometimes don't render some notes correctly and they will sound too loud in a broken way.
To fix that, in UTAU, select the broken note, right click, "Clear Cache", and play the note. Repeat until the note is broken no more. When it sounds ok, you can render the wav correctly.
