  • naahh the best interviewer was the beautiful babe from germany.. it was almost as if they were flirting by the end of it

  • Thom was so cheery back then haha

  • 6:32 - I would give almost anything to jam with Thom Yorke.

  • He doesn't want to sound like himself :( That makes me sad. Seeing that he is one of the best vocalists I know of.

  • @droubs42 yeah... well, everybody hates their own voice, and I guess someone as depressed as Thom was during that period would feel rather extreme about it.

  • hëhê_Ì_fËél_so_lOÑElý_töÐÁy

  • She acts like a complete idiot, but her questions are pretty good though.

  • bet thom smashed it after this interview

  • ...You fired.

    Good work thom

  • 8:25 Thom - "I saw it on the front cover of some magazine, 'THERE'S NO MELODIES'"

I just spat beer all over my keyboard laughing, what magazine could this possibly have been, 'Deaf Music Watchers Weekly'.

  • Thom is very kind to her, she looks so stupid!!!

  • is colin wearing glasses? :D

  • @tyranitar4ever

esta usando una nariz de payaso

  • Not a fan of the interviewer. I find her to be quite annoying.

  • @TheSonicchick She's unbearable...don't know why Thom likes her.

  • if you've ever seen anybody play the radio better than jonny greenwood, thumb this comment down...seriously...I dare you...

  • most annoying woman ever?

  • Whats he talking about I love your voice Thom.. Ill trade you.

  • colin looks like rivers cuomo

  • He says that the computer is a great cheat tool, and he gets away with it, because if anybody ever saw the video 'Scotch Mist' when they played their new 'In Rainbows' album will see that all of them are sheer gut sloggers (hard workers) to get their music right. Just watching Phil Selway continuously drumming out this incessant rhythm on 'weird fishes' made my eyes water for the man.

  • thom tapped that shit.

  • There could never be another voice for Radiohead.

  • "Lying motherfuckers"

    indeed Thom

  • kid a is my favorite is song, it's so pretty

  • i like how Thom says he hates his own voice, yet i would give just about ANYTHING to sound as beautiful as him! :)

  • @cobainbullet182 I don't think he so much *hates* his own voice, but rather, he hated hearing all the "copycat" artists (not even going there!) who sprung up on the airwaves at the turn of the millenium.

  • Who might think that after The Bends and Ok Computer they will be able to create such a master piece? Totally different in sound, and the atmospheare that create this record it´s unbelievable. I know that they usually say that they don´t want to repet "the formula" in their nexts albums, but, wow, besides any taste, Kid A, personally, is THE gem in music.

  • I think Kid A is the point when I noticed that Radiohead is not just great band, it´s incredible amazing, the evolution of this band has no comparision with any other.

  • Well, It's been a month since my last comment and I can easily say that I now actively listen to Radiohead. But, I can only do so if I listen to the albums all the way through. Specifically Kid A. ^_____^

  • everyone is holding on, just hit me. Fucking radiohead (insert song tilte here) brilliance.

  • I recognize the many ways in which Radiohead's latter albums are significant and advanced. But, I still have trouble actively listening to ambient, less 'structured' music. It just hasn't fully appealed to me yet. I have yet to get chills from Kid A like I get when I listen to classical. It's grown tremendously on me over the past month, though. =]

  • I understand fully what you're saying. Radiohead definitely requires a second listen in most cases. I thought they were trash at first, just another alt rock band with cool sounds. But over time it becomes so personal, as if your emotions and theirs fully intertwine.

  • @dopejoel I think after repeated listening it sinks deeper and deeper. For me, songs like "Everything in its Right Place," "Kid A," and "National Anthem" were gateway songs that were more immediately accessible. It wasn't until later after continuous listening that the brilliance of songs like "In Limbo" and "How to Disappear Completely" really became manifest to me.

  • @streakerboydude how to dissapear completely came right awya

ive been listening to kid a since i was lkike 9 and ive been into it like listen to it everyday for a LONG time now, and in limbo is the only song on their i had a harder time getting into and morning bell, but now i wonder why the hell i had a hard time w/ morning bell

  • @dopejoel Yeah I understand what you mean it takes me ages to get into ambient electronica stuff or just weird strange music and then sometimes in the end I get so bored of trying to get into it I give up on it and then I come back to it like a few months later and I love it.

  • @23lFrench Yeah, man. Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Aphex Twin, Steve Reich and Dj Shadow. Minimalism and ambient has really grown on me since I posted that comment. Especially Kid A ^________^ Rock, in most of its current variations, has become so mundane for me to listen to. So, this kind of music because its new to me, is very sobering. It doesn't remind me of anything. I like that.

  • @dopejoel yeah I like Dj shadow, private press and entroducing are two amazing albums, I also listen to a bit of aphex twin along with some post-rock its all good!

  • national makes me shit my pants sometimes. fits perfectly in the album

  • This is my favorite interview I've seen yet. It's fun.

  • never heard national anthem before wow cant wait to get kid A now.

  • you're in for a treat

  • dont i know it! by the way, how come she always seems to be interviewing them, like every 3rd interview seems to be her lucky cow...i want her job

  • I like the way she actually inquires about his answers and seems genuinely interested, not like most reporters.

  • sook yin li= one of the most personable and connecting interviewer ever

  • kid a is such a beautiful song. proof of jonny greenwood's genius, if his solo material isn't enough.

  • Jhonny sos Grossoo!!!!

  • Best interviewer ever! She actually asks good questions rather than just making a joke about herself.

  • @skinnydipper16

You can tell she's a fan who cares a lot about what she's doing, but she's not one of "those Radiohead fans".

You know who you are, and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

  • haha i love the way thom moves on the couch in the beginning. it made my day.

  • colin looks cool with glasses

  • Do you think he wears contacts normally? :O I've only got one picture of him with glasses on, and it looked more like a silly sort of thing, but now that I've seen this video I think he might be vision-impaired. how cute<3

  • i think their good questions and thom probably does as well if shes always interviewing him but i might be wrong

  • geeze she has done so many interviews with them and she always ask such stupid questions -____-

  • is that thom's house?

  • wtf was that little creature thing at the end lol

  • a bear

  • god! that national anthem was SO POWERFULL!!! SO MUCH ENERGY!!!

i need to do a live cover of that song... puff...amazing

  • looks cool isn't it, I want to do one too

  • ugh thom looks so uncomfortable when shes trying to imitate him...:(

  • donno why but its looks like he consider it funny the same time.

  • can someone tell me what part of how to dissapear completely is ondes martenot cause im doing a viva voce on Kid A for school

  • um.. the noise at the beggining?

  • it seems to be a guitar large note, but it's not, and it sounds like a violin too, but it's not. It's in all the song since from thom beggins to sing.(maybe I wrote with a lot of mistakes :S, sorry, my english is bad). And in this song it sounds quite softly, not as in pyramid song

  • well, they dont use a real ondes martenot live, they use a modular with a controller that imitates the ondes martenot way of playing (Analogue Systems French Connection), so he might use different patches for each song, but i am sure that in how to disappear jonny plays the keynote through out all the song until the end when ed and him start to play simultaneously while thom follows with his voice, ed with an ebow and jonny with the French Connection...

  • poor thom and his lack of self belief... id do anything to sound like him!

  • he said in an interview that he hates how pretty his voice sounds...that what he's saying may come off sounding polite when he's singing about something particularly 'acidic'

  • i know that. i wasnt talking about his perception of his own voice though, i was talking about how i wish i sounded like him; two seperate things.

  • YEAAAAAAH sar1428! YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • cuz you know billboard they really got their finger on the pulse lol

  • Kid A carried me through one of the most difficult times in my life. Love these guys.

  • Best. Comment. Ever. (about how radiohead has affected it's listeners)

It's helped me the same way. I have the upmost respect for them. :)

  • Its ok to have fun, its ok to have fun

BUT IS IT OK TO BE A DICK ?

  • you obviously have no sense of... errr. anything

  • The National Anthem is one of their best songs. Now that I've heard it, I may have to revise my top 10 list.

  • I would do Sook-Yin Lee.

  • whys everyone got it in for this interviewer? she seems alrite,

  • whats the piano thing he's playing?

  • It is called an "Ondes Martenot". Old french instrument from the first half of the 20th century. Look it up for more information. Its an incredibly cool instrument!

  • thanks

  • It looks like an Ondes Martenot.

  • Thom is notorious for being difficult in interviews; but has anyone else noticed that he responds much beter when the interviewer is female? He's just an extremely compassionate, moody dude.

  • this lady is stupid

everyone knows he hates when his voice is called beautiful

why don't i get to interview him?

she doesn't even seem like a very big fan

therefore, not deserving to meet thom

  • That's why, she's interviewing him, she didn't saw him and tried to kiss him or screaming That's what I would do

Believe me I understand that feeling

  • she seems like a big fan to me

  • the chinese girl asks dumb questions

  • I am an Asian male who absolutely loves Kid A but I want to slap this silly girl.

She's annoying and stupid as feck

  • She must work for pitchfork...she's way to self important

  • this is the reason they don't do interviews anymore

  • national anthem and optimistic are my favourite songs from that album.

  • i ADORE the 'National Anthem' (probably one of my favourites) yet the first time i heard it, i had to take it off midway, because it scared me so much hahaha

  • Although not my favourite rh song, the national anthem is probably their best song. Forget what Thom thinks, National Anthem is better than How to disappear.

  • is thom's house?

  • she's annoying as fuck. I would bang her though

  • If you like her, then you would like the movie "shortbus"...trust me look it up .

  • Can the talkshow fags in the end please die! :P

  • the thing i just love about this album is that while the music is beautiful and dreamy, a lot of the lyrics and art/poetry associated with the album are haunting. disquieting, you know? things like absolute conformity, insanity, depression. its like a comforting nightmare if that makes any sense. like, listen to How to Disappear completely.

  • conforting nightmare, right on.

    HTDC, one of the best

  • Yeah Conforting nightmare a bit like Motion Picture Soundtrack too But I think HTDC is definitly one of the best songs theyve ever written

  • I would do Soon Yin Lee.

  • God, this interviewer is so hot.

  • Why are they constantly focusing in on his limp squiggly eye?

  • wow dude...your a fucking horrible person.

  • This band is incredible.

    That is all.

  • can't listen to the album all the way through without crying

  • the interviewer is so annoying and so is the editing. but go radiohead.

  • you should see who muchmusic has now.....she was actually one fo their better interviewers.

  • i like her a lot. she's not afraid of thom.

  • you should see the other one where they wont even look at each other.

  • there are only a few albums out there that i can listen my full way through without skipping a song and Kid A was the first i was able to do that with. love to radiohead

  • when she's trying to imitate his voice he seems to feel very uncomfortable.... certainly

  • like hes annoyed lol

  • "your beautiful voice is like..."

-" oh I see, yes, er, you just.... 'shut the fuck up and leave me alone'" (0:10)

that's what he might be thinking

  • Is he playing an ondes when there pissing around on that organ thing?

  • I think there is one on it

it looks like the control panel is on it to the side but he is only playing the keys

if it is an ondes it is one of the originals which I know jonny has one in there studio

  • yeah thats an ondes

  • I take that back, the organ later in the vid isn't an ondes it's just some sort of harmonium, but @ 2:10 that's the ondes

  • what does he say at 6:19 ?

  • "It's analogue! eh."

  • thanks ;D

  • I hope (for Thom) that he, one day, can hear himself singing as we all do. Then he'll know that he has the most beautiful voise ) in the world!

  • I think he knows deep down... He just can't accept it because he'll turn into every other arrogant cunt in the music industry.

  • yes. I think you're right. But I hope that he can maybe accept and enjoy it for only one day :D

  • what the hell is that instrument jhonny is using?

  • He uses a portable radio at the beginning and takes samples. Then he samples Thom's voice while he's singing and puts that onto a Korg Kaoss Pad, he then minipulates that by randomly moving his finger around and changing the settings and filters.

  • was it? walking, walking alone, walking,,,,,???

  • if I got to interview Thom at my house it would pretty much go like this

"So, Thom,.. erm...uhh...hmm..you... I LOVE YOU!"

and then someone would have to pull me off him

    :P

  • I'm pretty much annoyed by the interviewer. I'm sorry.

  • it would be better if he was interviewed by a child

  • kinda funny to see Thom at someones house that needs renovations, lol

Kid A (released in the U.S. on 10/3/00) is my favorite album ever. Moby's "Play" album comes in 2nd.

  • Who the fuck edits these 'Documentaries?' Fucking annoying!

  • Billboard is full of rubbish! 1/2 a star ?? bloody Joke

  • Critics - I hate them.

  • one of my fave radiohead songs The national anthem

  • Kid A= one of my favorite records ever so underrated, shame most people just didnt get it. same with amnesiac

  • class version of the national anthem

  • I concur!! The hypnotic bassline on that song can become a bit too much, but on this version it just works so well.

  • cant beat it live mate, always a crowd pleaser.going to see them in dublin for their first gig of the new tour in june, cant wait!

  • 1/2 star on billboard?

what a load of shit, that's one of the best albums ever...

  • I'm glad she doesn't pussyfoot around them

  • i really dont like her. she seems so fake.

  • and who cares what critics and billboard think xD... all that matters is RH's mind and their work!

  • god she's such a superficial interviewer..she's korean aha neways this cud do much better T.T.........

  • Sook Yin isn't Korean, she's Chinese.

  • no offence and im not a fan of the interviewer but there's no chinese last name like Lee and def. no first name like sook yin lol c:

  • I know her name sounds like it could be Korean, but look up her biography anywhere and it will tell you she's Chinese-Canadian. They may have just spelt Li as Lee. (If you want to go further, "Yin" is a strange way to spell a Korean name as well...)

  • I really think you should watch Dave Chappelle in "For What Its Worth". He mentions mistakes like this and the way people get offended by them.

  • I was merely correcting something I knew for sure to be false information. I know it's hard to read people over the internet, but I wasn't offended. In any case, I like Dave Chappelle so I'll keep it in mind to check that out.

  • Every time I hear a Radiohead song I get to appreciate the sound or the lyrics on a different level. That is such a masterful gift to humanity.

  • lol god he looks uncomfortable in the beginning

  • i like sook yin voice hahaha

  • Sook Yin Lee is great fun and has taste in music, so you people need to pipe down, Kid A is also a classic.

  • All you people that are making fun of sook are just jealous cunts.Even thought she was joking she was jamming with thom now how many of us can say that?.

  • This just goes to show how great MuchMusic used to be...now I all see on is emo, emo, more emo, rap.

  • YEAH! whatever happened to poor much?

now they have that retard leah. sorry not a fan of hers, they have certainly done waaaay better in the past.

  • yeah he looser than usual towards the end....give her credit

  • oh yeah

    'Reflections'.... so very uncomfortable

  • stop hating on the girl, people. she's a bit goofy, but it obviously helped to loosen Thom up, as this is one of the better interviews with him i've seen. compare this to the Reflections on Kid A documentary from the same year, where Thom looks like he's about to cry or throw a fit at any minute.

  • you hate who!? for what!?!?! Piss!

  • whose house is that?

  • Yeah where is this?

  • i actually think that it's sook-yin's house now. can anyone confirm this? :/

  • Yeah, it's her house. She's got photos of it on her myspace and her saying "me in my garden". Also she's filmed in it for MuchMusic pieces before.
