I am glad I now know who sings this! And what it's called! We have it on one of our Christmas CDs, but we lost its case... This is easily one of my Christmas songs of all time! :D

@sad7979 I don't think it was being racist. Most of the time you can tell a persons color by the way the sound. It doesn't mean it always works that way, but it does. I thought he was a black man when I first heard the song as well. I have nothing against people who are black, or any other for that matter.
